What's your situation in relation to a MacBook Pro?

Alright...I better make this post meaningful. It seems that all this wait had been a combination of things and the evidence is pointing to a release this February...I really hope that this is true (especially this Tuesday) because I really need the laptop to work on my NHD Documentary. Why are they not releasing it! Also if anybody has an idea which is best for games Fusion or Parallels?

damnit, I wanted 2000! So this is how its going down:

Apple will release the new MBP upon announcing that it has purchased Sony. Imagine the possibilities... my entire living room would be able to communicate in sync...
 
I'm waiting impatiently...

I'd given in an ordered one of the old 17", built to order, but it arrived at my dealer damaged. I took that as a sign to wait.

But jeez... I DO wish they'd at least give us a frickin' hint.

Anyway, I am on the list as buying one of the new 17" Mac Book Pros, maxed out.

You're just being to much of a wishfull thinker... Sony made in 2007 a revenue of 76 billion, and Apple 'just' 24. And Sony made a net income of 1 billion, and Apple just 3.5 billion.

Uuh...wait a second... Sony had only a profit-margin of 1.3% and Apple did 14.6%?

That's pretty impressive... maybe it could become plausible someday :rolleyes:

I agree. If :apple: hasn't released any news by the end of Feb. then I'm going to get a current model. I cannot wait forever.

Either u want to have the top of **** or u don't. If u don't have a production machine at ur disposal at the moment, why not buy a 2nd hand macbook and sell it after u have ur desired top of the bill MPpro 2008. The ordinary Macbooks dont seem they get an update in next 2 months. However the mbpro must 1st be announced and than maybe u need to wait another month before u actually have it. So I say most of the people wont have a new (line) MBpro before april.

Nah, Apple isn't going to let their retail channels run dry for over a month. They'll be available when they are "announced".

MBAs took around two weeks, and BTOs can slow things down too. I imagine the new MBPs WILL be in stores in the stock configs immediately, though.

Apple has to...right now they're killing their sales by not releasing the new MBP...and if this is just a simple refresh then it'll take just as long to get the new ones as the old ones. Now if it was a full out new design and they had to build them from scratch? Then I'd say shipping by the first week in March and they're probably making them now. Correct me if I'm wrong...I'm open for opinion.

On the second revision of the MBP's they pretty much started shipping them immediately. I ordered one about 5 minutes after they showed up online and it shipped out that week.
 
I hate to be a breaker but I really dont think that everybody in Europe can get a MBpro on the moment it gets announced. Hell even the Iphone is not available in Holland yet. I say if it gets announced in end Feb, u have the new line MBpro begin April, I hope u guys proof me wrong
 
yeah, I truly believe its a matter of getting hit with massive returns. Mac Pros have all sorts of kinks that need to be addressed and the likelihood of all those Mac Pro users returning for a new Macbook Pro is highly likely since most people just got theirs less than a week ago. So until the Mac Pro is fixed I don't believe we'll be seeing a Macbook Pro. At least not for another month. Moreover, they still have 17" MBP's in stock- so this is also taken into consideration, as all these suckers who can't wait flock for the last ones on the shelf... Its a cruel world. Okay, bye.

Here in the US you can pick up an iPhone like cocaine...It's not hard and it's abundant where there is a supplier. If it's a refresh, I'm almost certain it'll be available imediatly. If it's a brand spankin' new design...yea a good 3-4 weeks is a certain maybe!

Give Apple credit...they know how this is going down and they have it all planned out...it's their jobs and that's also why they are dominating Microsoft and the PC world.

BestBuy running out of MB, MBP?!?

Just went online and checked Bestbuy's inventory on MB and turns out they only have MBA available!
All 13" MB White and Black models Backordered!
2.4GHz MBP Sold Out, 2.2GHz MBP Backordered!
They still have some available in store but not from their warehouse! Hope this is a definite sign for the new upgrade. I'm going crazy waiting!!!!:mad:

I would be surprised if they updated the MB so soon... but maybe they would want multi-touch trackpads on the whole laptop lineup?
 
Im waiting for my first mac ever, but if the MBP gets the MBA keyboard ima rush out and buy a current gen MBP because i cant stand the macbook air keyboard. One of the reasons the MBP looks so good and looks so proffesional is from the curved keys that dont have spaces in between them like the Macbook's, and i like the feel of the current MBP keyboard. If they give the MBP the macbook keyboard then it will just look like every other pc out there.

The iPhone is an entirely different thing, entirely different. Apple is working with local carriers before releasing it. Their computer and iPod lines are always released worldwide. Not to say there isn't SOME delay, the US tends to get the first shipments and apple distributes through 3rd parties in some countries, it can take a short while to actually get through that process.

When they're announced I expect most places will have them available for order, don't know how long it will take for them to ship.
 
uhhhh I gave up...

I bought 2.4Ghz 15incher because I had to leave Korea this Wed
so I could not risk it....(it's too expensive to buy in where I am going to... Australia!)

Apparently they don't have restocking fee here so if it does come out I can always return it without a penny.

But I think this soon to be old machine is actually better than I expected. It's a bit heavy since last one I used was like 890g or sth but its performance and convenience is so good I really don't care...

Sorry for those waiting... but this was my first mac and I could not wait!!

Black MB and white 2.0ghz MB: backordered 1-2 weeks / Available at most stores

White 2.2ghz MB: Usually leaves our warehouse in 1 business day/ Available at most stores

17'' and 15.4'' 2.2ghz MBP: Usually leaves our warehouse in 1 business day/ Available at most stores

15.4'' 2.4ghz MBP: Sold out online / Available at most stores

After being unavailable, it actually said the same thing like a day ago, then went back to Back-ordered / Out of Stock .

I did the same thing my friend, But i'm still sniffing around incase they release an uber MacBook Pro tomorrow! I may be tempted to cancel the MP and re order the Uber MBP.
