I hate to be a breaker but I really dont think that everybody in Europe can get a MBpro on the moment it gets announced. Hell even the Iphone is not available in Holland yet. I say if it gets announced in end Feb, u have the new line MBpro begin April, I hope u guys proof me wrong

The iPhone won't be released in Holland before it does so in China, Spain & Italy. We only have 16.4 million inhabitants here, so were not that of an priority, although we have the highest internet-use of Europe. The Dutch simply love gadgets like the iPhone, it would be an instant hit down here...

But the MBP is a totally diffrent thing... For example, the MBA was also available for shipment right away to Holland (and the rest of the world) since last MacWorld KeyNote. MBP will be available in Holland as soon as the rest of the world, I assure you...

I read your post and I'm quite certain you meant "prove". There, I just proofed you :D

... and? The expectation is for at the absolute minimum a speed bump in the current line now, long before Montevina. That's 1/2 a year away, a lifetime in the cutting-edge laptop market. Sure apple will do Montevina one day, plus the 200 technologies that come after it, but this thread is anticipating a more timely update.

Current poll results, voting on this thread show that 11% are expecting the Montevina.

Only the Siths deal in absolutes...Yoda:)

PD: I do want something soon, I couldn't wait until June.

Will the updated MBPs use the same ram as the current MBPs?
100% yes?
maybe?
no?

All depends on when we see them. If the update comes before Montevina, then 100% yes same RAM.

If they are released with the new chipset, it will support new RAM.

the evidience is too strong for there not to be a release in the next week!

There is a strong evidence that a lot of people are expecting an update of MBP but I still haven't noticed any evidence that this expectation will be met (unfortunately)

I cant wait for tomorrows disappointment!

LOL, I think there might be a decent chance that tommorrow will happen. I think if there was going to be an event on the 26th then we would have heard about it by now, then again no postal service today because of presidents day....we will see!

So has any event ACTUALLY been confirmed for the 26th or is that also an unconfirmed rumor?

Glossy only MBP

Been doing some thinking while waiting for the rumored MBP.
What would you guys do if Apple decide to offer only the glossy screen for the MBP. I've read some pros and cons in this thread about how Apple is going to change MBP keyboard to get along with other lines; does it ever occur to you guys that Apple might adopt the glossy screen only for the new MBP?

I think currently the MBP is the only Mac available in the matte screen?
iMac has a glossy screen only
MB also has a glossy screen only
I don't know the ACD since I do not have one.

But I could be wrong. It's just I'm so bored waiting the new one.

ACD is matte, and probably always will be because it is Apple's "pro" monitor for video/photography work etc.

I will be pleased if the new MBP is offered just in glossy, as it means I'll get mine faster (I'm definitely going glossy again) because it won't be a CTO option anymore!

But, it will definitely annoy a lot of people on here, and may even be a deal-breaker.

I don't think Apple will do it - again, it's a "pro" machine.

The option of a matte screen is one of the main reasons I went Apple with a 17" MBP. First I bought a 17" Dell notebook that only had glossy - screen sucked. Then I tried a 17" HP notebook with only glossy - that really sucked. The MBP is their Pro line, so to only offer glossy would go directly against that. Most if not all professional displays are non-glossy.

Don't confuse a bad glossy screen with a good one.

When I first got my MBP, it took me ages to confirm I actually had the glossy screen I'd ordered. It certainly doesn't reflect half as much as Sonys/Dells etc. I've seen.

And, I'm reminded I have the glossy screen by the fantastically rich, crisp, and deep colours.

The glossy does look "better", and more pleasing, for gaming, DVDs, and everything really - but, it isn't as "accurate" out of the box (you can always calibrate it of course) for pro photo work etc., which I don't do.

I'd go glossy again, without a doubt.

It's all personal preference, there isn't a right or a wrong, or a "bad" or "good" screen.

because of the glossy screen you will never be able to calabrate the screen so this would be a deal breaker for anybody in photography, video production, artist, and I'm sure I'm missing a whole bunch of groups as well.

I personally would buy a refurbished SR laptop and save $500 USD.

True, however as I tested out the difference between glossy and matte, I didn't exactly see a major difference in color, yet the glossy was distracting as I saw glare on it. My preference would be with a matte screen (I'm using a monitor with one at the moment.)
