I want my

I want my

I want my MBP

We should all pick a date to call apple and shout "I WANT MY MBP!" into the phone.

I'm hoping we don't see an update tomorrow. As much as I want to order one, I would love to see invitations to the Feb 26th event tomorrow.

A little update tomorrow would be kinda depressing.

An event next Tuesday with the hopes of a new(ish) MBP would be great, for me!

Either way, if February 26th arrives and there's no new MBP, on March 1st, I'll be ordering.

the evidience is too strong for there not to be a release in the next week!

I've said it before, to deaf ears cuz no one responded, but I think there's a lot of evidence it won't be until March. It makes perfect business sense...

1) There are glitches that need to be fixed on the Mac Pro before anything can happen. If I just purchased a Mac Pro and Apple release a new MBP I'd be pissed cuz it looks like they're clueless to fixing my machine; why would I keep a computer that doesn't function properly when I could just return it and get a new MBP? Furthermore...

2) Most people got their Mac Pro's around the 12th. To avoid massive returns from people who are even simply indifferent about their cost/benefit analysis on the Mac Pro in retrospect: Apple will wait at least 1 month to start shipping new MBPs.

That is all... I just typed all that with one hand while eating a Brewtus burger from Applebees...

Yea it's funny how everyone is expecting this event, but it may not even happen. I can't see Steve Jobs demoing an SDK at an event. The SDK is not going to be used by the masses.

I think this has always been rumored to be a media event, not a 'public' event. I'm not sure why a week's notice is required at all, nor why people would need to physically be at the event. But anyway, this SDK thing is a really big deal for Apple's future.

In the same way that the iPhone is making normally non-Mac consumers gravitate towards the Mac platform, the iPhone SDK is going to introduce normally non-Mac developers to the OSX platform. The end result is going to be a lot more development for iPhone and full blown OSX, which will pull more consumers towards both platforms ("if you build it..."). This is what is really going to drive Apple's market share.

I'd have to disagree. Most people bought a Mac Pro because they wanted a Mac Pro, not because the new MBPs weren't out yet. And again, Apple's not going to let their notebook line go unavailable for an entire month...

Props but i think your wrong about the MBP's being released in February......they will be released within the next to weeks.

Agreed. If not tomorrow (that would be cool, but I won't be surprised if it doesn't happen) then on the 26th. An "event" solely for the iPhone SDK doesn't really make sense. It seems more likely they will release the new MBP's along side it.

Someone in another thread said they would bet their years salary that they are coming the last week of Feb. They said they knew someone who worked at apple (not apple store). Probably full of lies but I'm reposting it for what it's worth.

I think it's more likely that the 'event' on the 26th which everyone has become totally convinced about on the basis of one single report some weeks ago isn't real.

He could bet it if he wants or on the other hand he could give me a small portion of it to blindly throw at a current mbp so i can forget about all this waiting nonsense. The guy who originally advised i wait has a lot to answer for.

On a brighter side.... HAPPY TUESDAY! may it be a fruitful one.

That's more worrying. At least if there was an 'event', you could pin your hopes on something being updated.

As yet, a lot of people are taking as gospel what is complete hearsay.

I would have to respectfully disagree, It makes perfect sense to release a "PRO"- fessional notbook w/ a big development event...

furthermore, MacbookPRO was supposed to have been released, Penryn shortage was the hurtle. PRO line should be released beginning of the year for professionals. Macbook on the other hand should be be released for back to school in sept or around so... just an opinion...

Perhaps. Mr Fun-is having too much fun with his smelly-SOCKS, we've heard too many speculations based on someone's dad's friends next door neighbor's cousin's fiance's best friend's dog groomer's step-son working at :apple: rumors.

Not to add more fuel to the fire but as one of my company benefits we get access to the Best Buy Private Auction store. I noticed this morning they have put a number of Macbooks on there. I think there would be a lot of pissed off people (myself included) if they updated the Macbook before the Pro!

I doubt they will but it wouldn't surprise me if they updated both simultaneously. Why not? If the Penryns are available en masse then they may as well slip them in to the chipsets of the MB and MBP. Now that would certainly draw attention to Apples laptop range wouldn't it.
As for a MP update before MBP? I seriously doubt it....

As ever, the US & Canada store usually go down hours before international stores. US for the main update - Canada because its on the same server. International stores updated afterwards.

At least thats the general idea...
