yes

Im sure someone has posted it, but I didnt see it anywhere on here. The SMS icon is updated as well as the phone and ipod ones, they have have a diagonal line pattern.

yes, and some others too like the ipod and some backgrounds I have found.

The thing I don't like is the Green SMS icon no longer says SMS or anything, just Green icon with White bubble.

I've noticed...

-Background music in apps now fades out instead of cutting out when closing apps.

-When you're on the lock screen and listening to the iPod function, double-tapping now shows the artist, album and song - instead of just song and artist.

-The graphic for scrubbing video has now got a highlighted ring.

-Pressing the Home button whilst on the first page takes you to spotlight.

-Stopwatch has changed to show the current lap time above the total time

For me the best new feature is playing any podcast at 2x speed, or changing speeds on the fly. I no longer need my Automator script(s) or Doug's iTunes Applescripts to remaster everything as an Audiobook just to make it play faster. This single revelation will let me keep my iMac for another year. :)

Well done, easily worth $10 for my 2nd Gen Touch!

Absolutely. I can now actually get through all my tech podcasts in a week, instead of having them pile up on me. I was about to give up some of them because I just didn't have time.

I'm afraid I might already know the answer to this, but it seems I don't have the ability to record video using OS 3 on my 2G... Looks like I'll be jailbreaking and using Cycorder again then. Disappointing. Very disappointing.

wow, i actually made the front page. that's pretty cool . although i can only imagine the amount of traffic i'm going to get from this. i'm going to be updating that thread forever. lol.but at least it gives me something to do while i wait for 3.0 jailbreak

Voice Memo Length Selection

If you record a voice memo that's considerably long and try to email it, you get a message telling you its too long and you need to shorten it. this then brings up an audio scrub bar with a resizable selection scrubber, so you may choose a section and size.

Wifi authentication

If you open an internet app in a Wifi Hotspot that requires you to login via a browser, a single WebView will popup, you authenticate, then it goes away. Previously, you had to quit Mail, open Safari, authenticate, then go back to Mail. Now, at least for Mail, you get a popup, and once access to the Hotspot has been granted, back using Mail as normal.

I noticed this with Mail the other day. Not sure if it works with all internet related apps, but it certainly works well with Mail.

How do you hide the apple apps with out filling 11 pages of apps?

The way I've "hidden" them in the past (still waiting for 3Gs) just move the app to a blank page at the end. First install all the apps you want and get them arranged properly (for example I always leave the bottom row blank) then take the apps you don't want but can't/don't want to delete and move them to the last page. It's not really hidden, just out of the way.

It's more general that that, when one app launches another, exiting that app will take you back to where you were. I've seen the same behavior exiting YouTube.

This is VERY VERY NICE.

Maury

This is not true -- it is not general behavior. I'm looking at an app right now that does not do this. Youtube, Quicktime player, and the phone have done this since 2.x. Not sure how you call this a 3.0 feature.

- When a phone call interrupts you, after the phone call you are taken back to the app you were in before you were interrupted

I disagree with this one. I was usng the AOL radio app when a call came in and after the call I was left with the main screen. Not sure if it is a bug in the AOL rafio app or not.

Macrumors,

You can't hide app without installing 11 whole pages. Your post is very misleading.

You left out the ability to forward and delete individual text messages.

Calendar has data detectors too!

Finally can tap on phone numbers in appointments and call them directly! http URL's work too!
:)

Mail Search finds emails stored online, not just on phone

I've always hated the fact that the iPhone won't show every email in my Mail; it leaves out messages sent from my laptop, or messages in the Trash on my laptop...

But the new Mail search in 3.0 searches mail from the whole MobileMe cloud!

From an email from MobileMe:

"Search all your messages. Using email search on your iPhone or iPod touch, you can now find and retrieve any MobileMe Mail message, including messages stored in the MobileMe cloud, even if they are no longer on your device. You can search the To, From, and Subject fields of all the messages in your Inbox or any folder you select."

- There is no limit to the number of apps that can be installed (beside storage space). Once you reach the home screen limit, Apps installed after that are installed without an icon but can be accessed in Spotlight. You can also use this to hide any apple application (i.e. weather and stocks)

And still no subfolders.

*facepalm*

How is this done?

I'm not sure if this is new but I've only just found it since upgrading... you can select which Exchange folders to push now other than just the inbox.

NEW in Messages

when in Messages and looking at a text thread, you can now click the edit button at the top right of the screen and select any number of individual messages and delete/forward them. This will be great for forwarding only the important part of a conversation or deleting embarrassing text without losing an entire conversation.

Yes, but is wallpaper lickable?

That's only on Willy Wonka's iphone.

I do wish we had a better apps organizer. I had over 9 pages on my phone previously, once I updated the other 2 pages of apps appeared. I was two away from complete 11 page fill. I guess I will get to test this spotlight for hidden apps pretty soon.
