The Apple TV app built into smart TVs is like Inception.

Smart TVs already do what the Apple TV app does . . . except for having Apple TV Plus.

It would be more logical to just add an Apple TV Plus channel.

Imagine if every app on a smart TV also included access to every other app. It doesn’t make sense.

For example, you can open up Showtime through the Apple TV app. But all smart TVs already have a Showtime app.

Apple is essentially creating a new smart TV OS that runs as an app on smart TVs (minus access to Netflix). I’m not sure why the manufacturers would allow this. I can see why they want the Apple TV Plus shows, but not to control access to the other apps' content.

You can download all content to watch offline, is that new, can you do that with your Directv HBO authorized content on the Roku? Other than that and that the Apple TV plus will be brought to the Mac in the Fall, I don't see anything new.
