lol 4,99 $ for a new released movie to rent, i can get the BD with special features a digital copy etc for 14 $ during its first week of release

I'm sure you can still purchase movies on iTunes and stream to your AppleTV. Who runs an appletv independent of a shared iTunes library, anyway?

I'll be upgrading all 3 AppleTVs in the house to this.

well you can buy thru iTunes still and then stream it...

I am not sure, they may be dropping purchases from iTunes. This may be at the request (demand) of the studios.

Streamed 1080p either takes hours to pre-download (Vudu), or looks compressed and crappy (everyone else).

720 makes sense. The Apple TV was never going to be a videophile solution.
