AirPlay would be really great if you could stream from ANY iOS device to any other iOS device. iPad to Apple TV. iPhone to iPad. AppleTV to iPhone, etc.

Is this actually true? (I'm actually curious not trying to disagree or anything)
It just seems to me like if it was capable of still photos they would have advertised that rather than very clearly stating camera for HD video recording. Which makes me think still photos are not an option. I remember seeing when the older generation nano came out with just video it was because this was a thinner part than the camera needed for still photos and the new ipod touch is pretty thin...

Anyway hope you are right but until I see proof I won't be buying a touch. Not having still photos is basically the same as not having a camera. I can't see myself needing to capture video very often.

I think it might not be an option but with a software update it will be available. The first iPhone didn't have video but when it was jailbroken it worked with an app.

It has nothing to do with the hardware at least I don't think so

Redbox is not the competition. Netflix is. Netflix has proven that streaming works. I'm frankly surprised Netflix is on the device. that is really killer

Considering getting one after writing off this product idea years ago.

Netflix works because of the subscription model. If it was like this rental crap it would be a failure just like like the Apple Tv

Yeah, and if I have a TV with Component cables, but no HDMI this device is useless.

If the tv;s HDMI stream is not encyrypted, you can just purchase a conversion box.

ORRRRR buy a real TV.
