For the Apple TV - why are they not allowing you to "buy" media?

It doesn't necessarily mean the Apple TV needs storage - you should be allowed to buy media through Apple TV with all your media stored on the iTunes server and you can basically download / watch the stuff you have bought without paying a fee everytime and have it streamed on demand to your Apple TV.

This may be the smartest thing i have read in a while.... i wish Apple had the foresight to think of that, it makes sense, seeing as if you want to watch things multiple times after the rental period then you have to pay again.... Or is that Apples catch... extra viewings=extra revenue for everybody!

You bought your PS3/XBox360 for $99?

They aren't appealing to a gamer. Think about it.

For $299 i can get a game console, media hub(that works with everything), BD player with 3d capabilities, ablity to do netflix and hulu...

Or i can pay $99 to rent movies and shows??

netflix, $12 a month includes blu-ray and instant stream. and they have 3 seasons of Dora

Then u need a blu-ray player for those blu-ray discs. Why not buy a 149 blu-ray player that streams netflix and has wifi. Costco has them so does fry's..

Apple still seems to be oblivious to the fact their competition is red box, not super high prices cable/satellite VoD. $1.50 for Blu-Ray or $5 for iTunes. Apple us no reason whatsoever to switch from physical media.

Red box - really? I can't imagine Red box even being in existence 18 mos from now. Not that I don't disagree that $5 is too high a price for rentals, but there are other choices out there. Streaming (convenience) is killing physical media.

Well I thought the event was awesome. The new nano looks fantastic, as well as the touch and shuffle. And I WILL have an :apple:TV in four weeks. Such an improvement.

You all complain entirely too much.

If it can access your computer, it can show your own movies, right?

If in November it can access your iPad, can it show Hulu?

Oh man I'm totally making a ringtone out of this song.....

And dayum...get Chris an iAutoTuner in place, he's butchering his own song here.

Forgive me if this has already been answered...
Does the new AppleTV support 1080P? I don't think I saw any mention of that.

If not...I'm fine with my current one.

This sucks, I currently do 100% of my movie buying with the AppleTV, now i'm going to have to go back to buying DVD's and ripping them and get a Blu-Ray drive to start ripping HD.

So today we lost the hallmark products of the iPod line that propelled Apple onto greatness, The Nano/mini and Classic. R.I.P revolutionary clickwheel...you will be sorely missed .

So the only good thing was the Touch and 4.1/4.2. Oh well...
