Forgive me if this has already been answered...
Does the new AppleTV support 1080P? I don't think I saw any mention of that.

If not...I'm fine with my current one.

Well seeing as netflix nor itunes offers anything greater than 720p, no.

This may be the smartest thing i have read in a while.... i wish Apple had the foresight to think of that, it makes sense, seeing as if you want to watch things multiple times after the rental period then you have to pay again.... Or is that Apples catch... extra viewings=extra revenue for everybody!

Thanks! It just makes sense to me and seems to avoid a major problem users are perceiving with this new design!

TV gpu?

What is the GPU for the tv as far as graphics (not video)?
Ex: for games or ux?

You can buy the same shows on iTunes, and then stream them to your TV though the aTV. Pretty much the same thing. The new aTV doesn't have a hard drive, I'm assuming that's why you can't buy through it.

That is my assumption too, but isn't this Apple? I can't use the Apple TV to say i want to own it, load it to the computer account later but stream it to watch now?

How much of that "storage" and how much is "TV studios see a new way to milk the cow"?

I'm a bit disappointed and impressed at the same time. The itv has really impressed me, at least the price of $99... although it does not have a hard drive, you can still stream media from computer or online, media centers are generally fairly pricey, at about $200+ range.. I may even consider getting the itv now :p.

But what I am a bit disappointed about is the ipod nano, I am happy about touch sensitive features, but the screen size is so much smaller then the previous one.. I couldn't see myself watching anything on that..

Also the design on the ipod touch is pretty much the same, which is also disappointing, I was really looking forward to seeing a similar design to that of the iphone 4.. Also was hoping to see a white version..

Just my thoughts :]

Watching event on iphone and AT&T keeps dumping me, cutting out video due to bandwidth limits, and sending me to some prerecording of when the audience is coming in.

I can't wait to get my new ipod.

So if it only has 1 hdmi out... how do I get the sound to my receiver?

Get a receiver with HDMI in that strips off the audio and passes the video back out? Almost all of them do it these days.

It looks like there was a toslink port on the back too if you had to run the hdmi straight to the TV.

$99 is not that impressive of a price for what you get.... I mean i can stream netflix and crap from my computer with my ps3 and my xbox.. with my ps3 i still have a hd and i still have a BD player?!

So again 99 isnt that impressive for a hub..

Problem is the interface sucks, IMO, on my 360s and PS3. I've always had formats issues when using Handbrake for either one. With this, ATV preset and that's it. I'll be able to replace my Airport express w/ itunes in the living room. Will be able to move the ATV easily around the house, if needed.

Of course there's no stutter on Vudu 1080p! It pre-downloads before you start watching. LOL

Mine doesnt I start playing in less than 5 seconds 1080p Im not taking about BUYING im talking of streaming 1080p Instantly no buffering!

Yeah.... I'm liking what Western Digital has to offer a bit more than this Apple TV POS. Bit more in price, but for god's sake, what simpleton could actually fall for the "don't need storage" line that Steve is spouting? At least include USB as an option...

They will sell 2 million this year.

And I don't doubt that. Many people buy apple because it's apple. Just responding to the poster who doesn't have HDMI inputs.

But in the long run I don't think this product will be anything great, like the last appleTv. It wasn't exactly very popular.
