Really excited about the iPhone 5S and iOS 7.....

My only disappointment stems from the pricing structure and storage options. Really thought the 5C would be cheaper (at least $450, which would be cheap by Apple's standards). Was actually interested in buying one (and still am even in those colors - I think the plastic unibody looks nice and would assume it probably is very durable).....

But not spending $550 on a backup phone.....

Also was hoping I could buy my 32GB iPhone $100 cheaper, but oh well....

I think this really does set them up for a larger iPhone release next year which would knock everything down and the 4S out of the lineup bringing the 5C to the $450 price point that it should've hit.

We'll see how it does in China! Expecting HUGE numbers with such a widespread availability the iPhone has never had before.t

And all you whiners can stay off Apple's store at 12am on Friday so I can pre-order and go back to sleep!

Don't worry, I won't even be touching these new iPhones haha. I'll wait until the 6, or 6S, or 7, or... you get my point :p the only thing i'll be getting from apple is MAYBE one of the new iPod Touches (I have the iT4) and one of those mbp's with the better battery life everyone keeps talking about.

I like Apple and all but even i is disappoint. the 5C should be starting at $49 with contract and about $289 max off contract. Its only 100 cheaper than the 5 which is a vastly better phone outside of LTE band support.

Then to gouge people further with the off-contract pricing of the 5S...its an absolute shameless shakedown. Same storage options too. 16GB storage should be going extinct in 2013...shouldn't be a thing.

Im not sure what the value proposition is this year. I really don't see it. Especially if you own anything newer than an iPhone 4.

Plus there are now equally good or better options out there for cheaper.

You visit a website with its main purpose is to report rumors and then are sadden by the fact that their are no surprises.

Took care of typing for me.

Remember kids, if you open your presents early then don't expect to be wowed later.

Boring and repeating

Apple keynotes are becoming boring. Where the hell is the innovation or did it simply go with Steve Jobs? The iPhone 5c & 5s is a joke especially with those having the 5 already. Nothing new or major. I have been religiously using and preaching iPhone since the first one. But now Galaxy Note 3 shows more innovation and usefulness. Bye bye iPhone! I'll be back once Apple starts innovating again.

Makes no sense.

Plus 16GB and no 128GB...sort it out Apple.

If you want a cheap piece of junk, there are dozens of Android phones to choose from. ;)

it's very unforunate that since the iPhone 5, nothing has been kept in secret as far as Apple products. I think this impacts hugely in a negative way not only to close followers, but also to the general public, as there is practically no excitement or wow moments during these announcements.

I followed the blog and found myself hoping that there's something that was not leaked, or leaked purposely only for Apple to whip out something totally unexpected. While the technological advancements are undeniably nice to have, they aren't so much "wow" factors anymore, especially in the technology world that now evolves every other month.

perhaps if Apple really did keep something in secret, there'd still be a bit of excitement when these announcements come around, even if the "new" features aren't all that worth an upgrade.

Technology that serves no purpose isn't progress.

Technology that serves no purpose for me isn't progress.

Fixed. If you don't think you'll appreciate it, then don't knock it for others. If you want me to flip the tables on you, then let me ask you why are you so resistant to new technologies? Why be complacent? You don't like it, then don't use it. But what's the point of criticizing others who would openly embrace it in their lives?

For me it will be progress. The amount of times I unlock my phone in a day, I can already tell a fingerprint scanner will be a great convenience for me. I also appreciate the added security, sure.

I think with the pricing they are pushing, all Apple have really managed to do is hand even more market share to it's much cheaper competitors. And NFC is very useful too. Why the hell they still don't have this? They could have built in NFC and made it so you just press the home button to authorise the payment or something.

I would moan they never mentioned the New Mac Pro but I guess that'll come out with Mavericks.

There's stuff built into iOS 7 that's way beyond NFC.....iBeacons using Bluetooth Low Energy are far more flexible and there are MANY more possibilities with that tech.....

TBH, for payments, the iWatch is going to be the device to look out for. IF Apple uses NFC for something, it'll be in the iWatch. Makes a TON more sense too IMO. Would I rather wave my watch to pay? Or pull out my phone? (which offers little more convenience than pulling out my wallet).

Security won't be an issue either because the watch would have biometric sensors that interact with the phone in your pocket (via BLE?) as a kind of two factor authentication. AKA, have to have the phone and watch together to be able to make payments - someone steals your phone? Cant use it to make payments. someone steals your watch? Can't use it to make payments.

Anyhow....better pictures and no more passwords = awesome IMO. And of course, the faster/better CPU and GPU is great as well.

Looking forward to being back on iOS 7....didn't realize how much I liked it until I was forced to go back to iOS 6 when I sold my 5.

Do you whine about every new model of car that comes out too?

Ugh... still four wheels

Ugh... still has seats

Ugh... runs on petrol

Ugh... made of metal

Ugh... glass windshield

Seriously, phone market is maturing. The innovations are always going to be smaller year on year. What do you want, a pocket teleporter or something?

I think some of you need to look back 10 years and try to realise just how wonderful smartphones are. Just think about what you carry in your pocket and all the things it can do.
No, car manufactures are becoming innovative, it terms of how they can increase MPG, provide features that make driving easier and more fun.

Really, I want Apple to innovate new features, yet they haven't even caught up with the competition with the 5S, here are a few examples that competitors offer that Apple doesn't:
  • Waterproof Phones
  • Built-In 3D Displays
  • Take a picture and if someone walks in your shot, the phone automatically removes them
  • Take a picture, multiple shots are COMBINED to make an even better shot, even without a flash in low light situations
  • The ability to run multiple Apps at once on the same screen
  • Standard MicroUSB port (I know some say the lightning connector is better, but I don't buy into it, there are no lightning acceories that don't exist for MicroUSB phones that I have seen and I have so many MicroUSB cables these days, that it would make things much easier.)
  • HDMI Output
  • Ability to use MicroSD cards for expansion
  • User Replaceable batteries

Yes, I know the last two are design choices that Apple has made, but really, there's no reason they couldn't accomplish them.

Like I said, Apple hasn't even caught up to this list, let alone come up with any innovative new features (and a Finger Print sensor that has been in tech since 95 or so isn't innovative, even if it can read a finger print in any direction. And that doesn't even get into privacy issues and how the government might obtain and use such information).

The world's first 64-bit smartphone is nothing to sneeze at. That isn't a simple spec bump. Overall, this is a very solid update that will push technology forward.

No, you are wrong. It is simply Apple resorting to spec bragging, as is done by so many Android manufacturers.

The iPhone5 does not lag at all. There is NO application besides the new idiotic Infinity Blade that needs that processing power. Apparently Apple chooses to highlight game developers and not developers who make real, useful apps.

Have fun wasting your time playing silly games on your $700 phone.

No 128 GB?

I have been holding off getting an iPhone until they are 128 GB. Apple is really dragging their feet. Very disappointing update. Apple seems to really be purposely crippling the storage capacity. I would be willing to pay more money for a 128 GB device. My iTunes library is over 64 GB and I do not want to pay extra fees for iTunes Match service.
