Fixed. If you don't think you'll appreciate it, then don't knock it for others. If you want me to flip the tables on you, then let me ask you why are you so resistant to new technologies? Why be complacent? You don't like it, then don't use it. But what's the point of criticizing others who would openly embrace it in their lives?

For me it will be progress. The amount of times I unlock my phone in a day, I can already tell a fingerprint scanner will be a great convenience for me. I also appreciate the added security, sure.

Embrace it in their lives?

It's an entirely new piece of hardware designed to save you the 1-1.3 seconds it takes to type a 4 digit pin number.

That's the very definition of solving something that isn't a problem.

I am confused , why is there no talk about the iPad?

it took them like 8 months to upgrade from 3 to version 4 , which was only upgraded processor. No update on the iPad mini too

I thought they will at least give us a look of what to be released in the future.

Will they release a new one in January?

I guess we pretty much knew everything before it was anounced.

I was hoping for two things:

128GB 5S

&

1080p Screen (even at the same size).

But I'm happy and will be getting my 64GB Black and Grey 5S next friday!

1080p screen? You hold the thing two inches from your face? That's about the only way a 1080p screen would actually be useful. Otherwise, it's just a waste of battery life, and at the distance you normally hold a phone away from your eyes, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

Queue the bitching and moaning.

Camera looks interesting. I like the increased aperture and photo options. I personally think this is big.

Processor and updated graphics is likewise welcomed. Curious to see the amount of RAM.

I fail to see how this isn't competitive or better than current phones. Is it because Apple hasn't thrown catch phrases around?

Bigger screen and more MP does not necessarily mean a better user experience and better photos, respectively. The only thing they could have improved hardware wise is allowing 128GB, regardless of cost.

Guess I'm a fanboi for being reasonable though.

Yes. And yes, megapixels still mean nothing. You could have 100 megapixels and if the optics are crap and the sensor is crap then the picture would still be grainy and crap. Why do people find this so hard to understand?

Because it's a numbers game. Would you rather have the XYZ586, or the XYZ587? People want to walk around and say they've got the best (which typically translates into the newest) device on the market.

Off contract prices are higher. (Yes buying phones off contract is quite popular in Europe)

sounds like a choice to me. Don't buy off contract then, or do and deal with a contract. It's not like you're not going to want to still own a phone within 2 years.

Finally, an iPhone that feels like a real upgrade compared to previous models :p

Will never switch back until Apple puts out a bigger screen though.

Yea I am sooooo disappointed... Apple is turning into trash... I wont be switching back till they put a 12 core xeon processor and a 55" screen in their phone...!

What can you expect? You are talking about a bunch of immature, over-entitled, spoiled brats with the attention spans as short as what's in their trousers. They have no concept of computer history, engineering, or manufacturing. All they know is ME! ME! ME!

I'm a consumer, and a logical one at that.

I have no allegiances to an ecosystem or a brand. I care not for the engineering feats, just the result, in what it costs me and what it offers me.

I don't care for pious individuals telling me that I should worship at the alter of technology simply because I cannot comprehend the processes used to create it (Though ironically I've seen countless numbers of motor manufacturing locations). I won't sit here and gush over one billion transistors on a chip because that number in isolation is meaningless.

Here's the bottom line: If a logical consumer owned a high-end smartphone from the last 2-3 years, there is nothing of substance that the iPhone 5s offers that makes it worth the prices they command. It's faster, it's more polished, it looks ever so slightly different from the last one, so what? The competitors have raised their game of the last 18 months, and now Apple decides to bring a knife to a gunfight.

They replaced it with the 5S at the same price point. The 5C is essentially the 5 with a plastic case so that they can sell it for $100 less and make the same margin. The design is probably too difficult to make in large quantities at the margins they want.

You're right about the margins. It's likely going to cost Apple much less to produce the 5C than the 5. Also, it is called the "5C", so I can't see them releasing a "5CS" next year. They could call it the "6C", but then it's number in relation to the regular iPhone will become greatly skewed. So I'm wondering if they plan on releasing this every 2 years, perhaps with a speed bump in the middle = even more profits.

Considering 30% of the purchase price goes to Google...but true, Google does have free apps on their market that Apple users are (were?) forced to pay for. I remember when Angry Birds first came out, Google users got it for free but Apple users had to pay $5 to get it.

Yep. Google subsidizes the whole thing. Easy to do when you're an ad company like they are. Apple (and Samsung for that matter) don't have that type of business model, so they have to make their $$ on the hardware.

Exactly. So long as I have 1080P recording capabilities I'm 100% fine.

AppleCare+ Replacement iPhone5

I already have an iPhone 5 and AppleCare+... If apple is no longer producing the iPhone 5, what would they replace my completely damaged 5 with... A 5C or a 5S?

If they replaced it with a 5C (Crap), I would be extremely upset!

a bit disappointed with the iPhone5S camera hardware specs...

Yes, it is still 8MP and no optical image stabilization.

Thanks. I'm not surprised by this, and although MP isn't everything, I was still hoping for a bit more improved camera specs than last year's iPhone5. I guess the 0.2 aperture bump to ƒ2.2 & dual-LED flash is it for this cycle regarding the actual hardware.

I have been holding off getting an iPhone until they are 128 GB. Apple is really dragging their feet. Very disappointing update. Apple seems to really be purposely crippling the storage capacity. I would be willing to pay more money for a 128 GB device. My iTunes library is over 64 GB and I do not want to pay extra fees for iTunes Match service.

So you would spend the extra $100 it no doubt would be for a 128GB model but wouldn't spend $25 per year for iTunes Match. You could pay for 4 years of iTunes match for the additional cost it would be if they had a 128GB model.

Outside of the size of the screen, how exactly has the game been raised to a point where Apple is so far behind in your eyes?

Will the fingerprint sensor reduce thefts? I think they probably will--at least there will be fewer opportunistic "snatch-and-run" thefts.

But I also fear that some ruthless thieves who would otherwise just "snatch and run" will instead force their victims to shut off the fingerprint sensor at gunpoint.

no. You can always wipe the phone. All this does is not give someone else access to your sensitive information.

Y'all enjoy having your fingerprint stored.

Wow...how very sad and unimpressive. This is the worst presentation ever given by Apple. What the hell have they been doing for the last year? Steve is sorely missed. I am still yawning.....:(

Not only un impressive, lacked few awaited things:

  • No New MacBook Pro (long waited haswell update).
  • No Launch Date/pricing for the new Mac Pro.
  • No New iPads
  • No New iMac/Mac Minis updated to Haswell...

So Apple Stocks now falling as never just before a keynote. *Iconic Date*

That, or they'll just factory reset the device...

  • Better camera
  • Faster Processor
  • TouchID for passwords
If you already own an iPhone 5, I see no compelling reason to rush out and buy the iOS 5s

wow so disappointed

big apple fan here, but this one made me realize that there really is no reason to watch anymore, I mean the rumors sites tell you everything. I have had the iPhone since 1Gen I honestly believe it is time to move to Samsung Galaxy Note 3, with the watch, they are just starting to offer more of what I want to see...think about it what was the last product that apple released that was earth shattering, that was the 1st iPhone and that is a long time ago now...times are changing and they are changing fast, just saying that you take your time to perfect things just isn't enough anymore:(

Jeez! That sounds like a Michael Bay plot scenario!
"Up against the wall, buddy. Go to Settings and then ..yes.l that's it ..Settings! Now.go to Settings.l. Yes. I just said that...dammit! Come on! The cops will be here any second...come on ...Now click on Security settings. That's. No. That's Safari...here ... Give it here ...Ill do it ..."
