Boo, who cares about a cheap iphone that is no better than the old one they are still selling.

64bit ios7 is cool but fingerprint sensor is a bit big brother to me and it's going to be hacked and used to commit crime and be bad press it just will be bad PR.

Most professional IBM laptops have have fingerprint scanners for a long long time. It's secure. And no, it's not going to be used to commit crime. If you're that worried about this, then google voice recognition and facebook's auto face tags probably have you up at night already.

Who wants to buy plastic iPhone 5 versus iPhone 5 for this price? Not me that's for sure.

To save $100 going to a plastic phone is definitely worth it for me. $100 is a LOT of money.

That said, I won't be buying the 5c. I'll wait on the 5s (yes, I said wait, since there are clearly major supply issues) for the new camera features alone.

I know megapixels arent everything but 8mp?? WTF?

Shoving more megapixels on a tiny sensor does nothing but degrade image quality and increase graininess.

Are there really this many people out there that still haven't got the memo on megapixels??

I know about the Atrix. Everyone knows about the Atrix. Oddly, no one actually owns an Atrix, nor did it bring fingerprint technology into the mindshare of the mass market.

You guys really need to stop worrying about who did it first and start focusing on who did it right.

More like who made it popular. Which is not the same as doing it right. Not that they didn't do it right either. But Apple has far more mindshare and better adoption rate than Motorola with their smartphones...

100 bucks for something you will be using at least a year or two is NOTHING.

More like, "It's fragmentation, and something we complained about Android as a marketing ploy!"

Fragmentation is pretty meaningless to the end user. It's a developer gripe. And most major apps "suck" it up and deal with it - so the end user never experience the lack of availability.

I am sure there are some niche apps that don't fit the bill. But "fragmentation" as it applies to Android and iOS are pretty much a non issue. Oh sure - it's a great word to throw around. And threaten with. But meaningless for the most part.

Exactly...Siri was popular, but Google's voice search is done right. It's snappier and brings up multiple result types in one page instead of trying to guess what you were trying to do.

Yaw - Ya - YAAWWWNNNN!! - wwwn - wnnn

Excuse me, sorry. I couldn't help yawning while I was yawning in the middle of a yawn.

No AppleTV announcements?
No iPod / iMac / iAnythingElse updates?

I feel like I just got a sweater and a tube of toothpaste for christmas.

Excuse me......I yawned reading your post. ;)

Not enough to get me to upgrade my iPhone 5.
I tend to upgrade every year, but Im skipping this one.

they'll have back stock for a long time, I'm sure. By the time they'd run out, they'll be on to next year's model.

And Apple is about to receive a boatload of trade-in iPhone5 models when all of the "gotta have it!" goofballs show up to buy a 5C or 5S. I suspect they'll have plenty of refurbished 5 models to go around for quite some time.

word. this is why Canon's 1 series were still lower MP than many other mainstream P&S's for a long time.

Nope, not the only one.

It's just that the whiners are the most vociferous.

This happens every time Apple has an announcement. And the people most vocal are the ones who don't like something, or are coming here to troll.

But I say if you don't like something, don't buy it. The simplist way to send a message to Apple is to keep your pocketbook shut. :)

So all they did is confirm months-old leaks and showed better pictures, so what... The important part is that Safari WILL indeed feel snappier in the iPhone 5S.

I'll just add that unless you take into consideration integration with the OS - Siri was better as a stand alone App before Apple bought it - at least I thought so for many many months.

I said it before - but I'll say it again. The 5C enables Apple to cater to those that want a cheaper iPhone and also have some variety in colors - something competitive to other phones in the market. They can do this WITHOUT "blemishing" their flagship phone.

They have basically divided their product offerings. It's no longer old/new. It's "Flagship" and "Budget"

Thats just it. Its NOT budget in terms of pricing. I can get an HTC One (32GB) or GS4 for cheaper than a 16GB 5C. I can also get a Lumia 920 for almost HALF the 5C price and it comes with varying colours. All these phones i've listed are arguably superior in EVERYWAY to the 5C

I guess your holographic 3D projection screen will have to wait until the iPhone6.

Yeah. Because exaggerating my post makes my point invalid. Take off the rose tinted glasses and look. How is this a worthwhile upgrade after waiting a whole year? I want more usability out of my phone. Having a better CPU/GPU doesn't help all that much at this point (don't play 3d games on my phone)

NFC would enable me to leave my credit cards at home -- linking that to the fingerprint sensor would have pretty much eliminated the possibility of someone stealing my cards. A bigger screen would allow me to fit more content on the screen (or make the content larger and easier to read) AND would create extra room for battery.

32GB should be standard at this point. It costs them next to nothing to throw in the extra 16GB. As iOS gets more and more bloated, 16GB becomes less usable.

No USB3, no 802.11ac. Really there's nothing new that's useful.

Slow motion camera is kinda cool. Fingerprint scanner is a bit of a gimmick as it stands.

Apple has always been the master of incremental upgrades, but lately they're advancing too slowly. This should have been a 6 month refresh, not a major launch.

Will I get one? I don't know. I am seriously considering Android. Or I might just pick up an iPhone 5 before for cheap and enjoy 95% of the functionality of the 5s
