RIP the notebook hard drive

I suspect that since the low-end mac (the 'air') has no hard drive that soon the entire note book product line will be spindle free soon. wow. change is sudden in this business.

do we even need time machine for laptops anymore?

When I think 'Professionals' and MacBook Air, I'm thinking office guys. It's way underpowered or my needs, but I know that their Pro market isn't video editors and photographers, it's for office executives.

I certainly hope it's not the future of the notebook though.

I love Apple and their products, but they are definitely starting to slide on the Mac side of things. The more iOS like everything gets the worse it will be IMO.

And another and another and another and another for each time they drop it.

And you WILL drop it. Many more times than once.

:apple:

Really? Sounds like you have an issue holding things. I've owned a number of laptops/notebooks over the years, and have NEVER dropped it, regardless of the size.

"To all of you buying a new car...Good luck with that..because it will get smashed.....and another...and another..."

Worst Keynote I can remember - iLife presentation was boring and tooooooo long.

Was it Phil in the MBA video with all the growths on the left side of his face? With all his $$$ I can't understands why he doesn't have them removed.

Disappointed is an understatement. Those iMovie trailers were pretty unnecessarily epic too. So much for a "revolutionary" new feature.
All I get is a bunch of features that I will probably never use.

The new MBA's are amazing, just what the MBA should have been from the get-go. Cheap, ultra mobile, and ultra light. Apple is back on the right track with the MBA.

Am i the only one who spotted what looked like an iPod connector on the MacBook Air on the other side of it? The side they didn't show anywhere on the Keynote, other than once.

The 11" Air sucks, don't know why they are even selling something with a 1.4Ghz processor and 64GB of storage. :p Didn't Steve Jobs say netbooks aren't good at anything? I don't see what is different from the 11" Air and what a Mac netbook would be.

Other than that and the snooze-fest iLife demos, this was a good showing. Lion looks much more organized, and the Mac App Store is brilliant. No longer will I have to Google to find some program that may or may not exist for Mac. Built-in reviews, simple installation and updates, and since it probably ties into your iTunes account, I won't necessarily have to use my credit card every time I want to buy an application online.

I have a feeling a lot of people are going to be super-negative about this show, though.

not for editing or graphics, made for email, web, writing papers, and what the average person who uses a netbok/laptop do anyway. just more then i want to pay

and for $499 you can do that on an ipad.

so you are paying $500 to be able to run flash....

this thing is dead on arrival.

I love Apple and their products, but they are definitely starting to slide on the Mac side of things. The more iOS like everything gets the worse it will be IMO.

It's just evolving into a new era. You knew with all the iPhone / iPad success there has been, they would incorporate back into the Mac. Future new Mac owners will feel right at home, because they more than likely already own an iPhone/iPad/iPod running iOS.

The Airs are cool. The 11.6 is great and pretty much replaces the 12" PB and is priced ok but it's essentially a netbook. So much for steve's critical statements towards the netbook.

But why Core 2 Duo. Core i3 ULV at least. Common Apple. Thant Nvidia love-fest is starting to bug me

Overall a boring event for me and my debit card goes back into my wallet. I have no need for iLife, Lion was was boring and steve seems to only brought the money making aspect of iOS to the desktop, Mission Control is just a rehash/rebranded Expose but i hope i'm proven wrong when its fully realeased. Skype>Facetime still.

All in all...meh...and i wasn't even expecting much.

wow what a huge disappointment...i'm a macpro user i don't want no ipad and appstore crap on my computer.

so if i understand wright, the next big thing in a new OS is the appstore crap. LOL i knew this was going to be a huge disappointment. Apple clearly has lost it. this is probably my first and last mac i'll ever buy

and are they serious with all those idiotic gestures...common man get serious

LOL, this kind of post coupled with your new registration this month just gives a good idea that you were probably paid to say this by some hater competitor. ;)
