Who is it intended for the house wife looking up recipes?

The MBA has always been geared towards the professional, now all of sudden its not?

If the professional is not the target audience, then who is because, I don't know too many people who want to spend so much money for so little computer.

Think sales and executive type professionals... anyone doing dev or creative type stuff is going to want a MBP anyway.

I love this. All the excitement from last week turns into bitching like predicted. You guys don't disappoint, almost like the changing of the seasons in that you know it's coming.

Was it Phil in the MBA video with all the growths on the left side of his face? With all his $$$ I can't understands why he doesn't have them removed.

Amen. Those things get bigger every time he speaks at a keynote - and it looks like he grew more since the last one. You'd think they'd be an impediment when he shaves in the morning. They are certainly an impediment for me paying attention to what he has to say. Those things are really an eyesore and distracting.

And another and another and another and another for each time they drop it.

And you WILL drop it. Many more times than once.

:apple:

WHY? I've never dropped a laptop/powerbook/macbook/notebook whatever in my life, are you assuming that most portable computer users are clumsy?

It's a nice machine for it's market, no it's not a pro machine, I don't think for a minute they aim it at that market (it's coming up to holiday season remember?) but that's why they have the MBP range, and the Mac Pro towers etc. They are pretty powerful, and combined with the apps and OS they run, they blow many other systems out of the water, even those with on paper better specs in some occasions.

Everyone who keeps complaining about the Air's anemic specs need to backtrack in the video.

Steve says this is the end result of meeting the iPad with the Macbook, both of which are not intended as power machines. A hybrid consumer machine that makes it super convenient for users.

Stop looking at the numbers.

Really? Sounds like you have an issue holding things. I've owned a number of laptops/notebooks over the years, and have NEVER dropped it, regardless of the size.

"To all of you buying a new car...Good luck with that..because it will get smashed.....and another...and another..."

Nope. Never bought one of the things. But I have watched more than one of my dumb colleagues lose everything, and more than once.

Maybe all of them have an issue with dropping things. Good enough to put me off.

And cars have insurance, genius. Mac warranty cover droppage much?

Can you even GET droppage insurance for a laptop?

:apple:

I like the the new Air but I don't like that it has only 2 GB of ram. It really should have had 4 GB.

the new air does come with an interesting feature...

"Software Reinstall Drive"

i guess we will have to wait till summer 2011 for iwork:mad:

Apple might be switching to a different distribution model. Pages will be available as a stand-alone app in 90 days. I expect the rest of the iWork suite will follow suit.

I'm really excited about the new iMovie and Garage Band. They really do look awesome. And I did see the iDVD icon among the iLife suite icons, so it looks like it still exists. But it wasn't mentioned at all, and neither was iWeb.

Yeah. What's up with that Ford Fiesta? Tiny, underpowered thing probably couldn't even carry half a dozen 2x4's.

I need something to haul lumber and plywood and bags of cement. That Fiesta just ain't gonna cut it! If this is the future of Ford, then I want out!

I'm selling my entire fleet of F-350's and we're going to switch everything to Kia.

Awesome post. Well said. Kinda what I thought off when I first read his post.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8B117 Safari/6531.22.7)

Hmmm, listened/watched it and it seems that everything shown was just enhancements on current items. Nothing revolutionary about any of it. I almost thought the new MBA would have been a robust iPad with a built in slot on the horizontal side for the keyboard attachment. Basically making a new hipowered iPad.

Ilife 2011 got to have
Macbook air 999 expect form Jobs he will never break the 999 wall on notebooks
Iwork where are you?
Lion very cool I hope its 29 for the upgrade
FaceTime Yeah!!!
Mac App store look good but I don't trust it

I think I'm better off removing iLife entirely. I use Aperture and Final Cut, minus well just by Logic Studio.

i was wondering if the the new MBA has a full glass screen? it almost seems like its like the regular macbook and has the aluminum to the edges and not the glass? can someone chime in? thanks!

I actually like the new lion features, impressed, not mind blowing, but am liking what I saw so far.. I am hoping and expecting a new UI, but I can understand that Apple isn't going to show that just yet..

Also like that the Mac also has an App Store, I actually made this prediction a while back :p, I guess I was right, I think its good to be able to run the same apps that are available for the ipad or iphone..

As far as the Macbook Air's are concerned its great to see that its much more affordable now, but I guess it is at a cost, the processors aren't as fast, but since it is using SSD It will mean applications and everything else will launch quickly..

Sweet holy mother of God!

That was a pretty damn good update to the Mac side of Apple. I'm impressed! :D

Do I wish that the 11.6" Air was a little cheaper? Sure I do, but I can only dream. I don't think we'll ever see a laptop cheaper than $1 off 4-figures out of Apple.

I can't wait to get an Intel machine now, though. I am most definitely picking up that little Air with next years Back To School promotion. :p

Now I've got to look for a 12-core PC tower (or better) and Apple just lost $10,000.

Lion? Lipstick on a pig. The iPadification of Mac OS.

Macbook Air? Jobs attempt to make notebooks into a toy as useless and thin as he is.

And of course, his fetish with Blu-ray comes complete with no optical drive whatsoever to deliver content to clients. Useless.

Now we pro content creator users can finally leave. All several million of us.

The era is finally over. The mac, as far as creating pro content, is dead. I'll be divesting my entire company's mac inventory as soon as my current rendering project is finished.

Buh-bye.

:apple:

P.S. What did I expect from Willie Wonka? Sanity. Way too much to ask for.

You run a company and jump to such fast conclusions based on a couple of examples in a release that's 6 months+ out? Give me the name of it so I never use it.

Jumping ship is your prerogative, I'm sure none of us could care less. I'm so sick of ignorant people talking so much crap after one of these keynotes only to turn around and say "Oh man, this is awesome. Lion is the best OS ever!"...

Don't let the door hit you on the way out and buh-bye yourself.
