Unless some new amazing app comes out that requires the increased processor speed, it doesn't look like a "must upgrade" to me. I'll probably wait for the iPad 3 that has higher resolution.

The new model isn't aimed at people who bought one last year or got one at Christmas. It's aimed at people who haven't purchased a tablet yet, which is a much larger crowd. It keeps them ahead of the competition. The Xoom looks out of date already.

Steve had to make an appearence for this?!? I'll just keep holding out on the iPad.

steve made an appearance to mollify the stock holders...and to keep confidence in Apple high. If he didn't show, stock would have dropped.

also, itt - people who have no idea how product evolution works.

no offense, folks..but try tempering your negative & unrealistic expectations a bit more, why don't you?

find me another product which compares to the new iPad iteration...oh, you can't? Yeah, that's what I thought. And, actually, the cover is quite nice. For those who can't quite understand it, or are underwhelmed by it...it's simple, functional & elegant. and, again, find another product like it which integrates as nicely. Oh, you can't.

etc. etc.

edit: for the über nay-sayers who are never pleased by Apple's releases - I heartily encourage you to start your own company & design a better product. I will gladly be your first customer.

Wow. The iPad 2 managed to underwelm my even very low expectations. Unless, there's a suprise coming.

No screen enhancement whatsoever (not easier to read in external light)
No SD / USB/ Thunderbolt
No 128 GB
Nothing else that was a surprise

Now they are spending 10 minutes on the CASE - you know they're in trouble.

Tony
You think that is low expectation? Really?

If you want anti-glare, buy an antiglare film.
SD? What about people with Memory stick? What about SDHC and other future standards? Why have a slot that could be obsolete soon?
USB is available through the sync cable or a USB adapter. Thunderbolt is too new and would require more chipset changes.
128 GB will come eventually.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

These specs are pretty EPIC!!!! This iPad may actually be worth the moolah :p

Yeah, that is bizarre...

No iOS 5 preview either. Guess that will get its own event in a few months?
Probably won't come until they're unified on iOS 5. Certainly supports speculation that the iPhone 5 will be a global/world phone too.

Strange that the iPad is not also a global product for 3G, but I think this just signifies that, for now, the iPhone remains Apple's flagship product.

Wonder if there'll be a "one more thing..."?
And wonder if it'll be MobileMe based

Too funny......

2011: Year of iPad2

This was a graphic slide in the presentation...

It'll sure be called into question if iPad3 comes out this Fall???
