How exactly do you come to this conclusion. This beats every other tablet in about every way. So there is not one good tablet? I'm also hoping for a new OS announcement, but the design itself leaves nothing to be desired other than a higher screen resolution IMO.

Really? What about the hardware beats out the Xoom is ANY way. Maybe the thinness, but I can't think of anything else.

GarageBand, Now all they need is a proper iphoto and i'm there.

kinda dissapointed no thunderbolt but it makes sense to wait till next year when it takes off.

Plus, there's no real benefit yet. Only MacBook Pro users would be able to use it, and then only for quick syncs. On top of that, it would add size to the iPad. It will come eventually, but I'm OK with them waiting.

...........And in a far away land the smell of burning plastic and scorched wires and the sound of lamination emanated from the Motorola manufacturing plant.

Having read the review of the Xoom and having experience with both iOS and Android I think I can safely predict the continued dominance of Apple in this market. As nice as Android looks it just becomes bloated and glitchy, and there's NO back room support from Google. Sorry kid's, Apple wins again.

I love during these presos that Apple always ignores everything that came before it and acts as if they are pioneering.

IE - when they introduced cut, copy and paste - they acted as if it was revolutionary.

Today we get Garage Band and iMovie - both of which are a year behind plenty of apps that have done the same thing since the get-go.

But ooooooh. Ahhhhhh - these are APPLE apps.... lol

I love how people always find something to complain. It's called marketing and if you were in their shoes you would play it the same way.

And that domainance would not be predicated on apples hardware and software implementation and how it fairs against the competition.

Mindshare everyone, Mindshare.

Erm because I know what I dont and do need? The specs arnt that big a deal for me personally to justify upgrading when I already own the iPad. For people buying their first iPad this is a great machine... and since its the same price then bargain!

But for me personally... since I already own an iPad the iPad 2 doesnt really do anything for me in terms of making me want it or to upgrade to it.

However like i said im hoping that game devs will keep on pushing boundries especially with the new hardware (so that when iPad 3 comes around and I may upgrade they will be some cool stuff available)

Screen res doesnt bother me.. I dont need a retina display.

I'm not saying that you should upgrade, if I had the original I definitely wouldn't. I'm just saying as far as tablets current on sale, if you're looking to buy one I don't see how this isn't by far the best one. I mean the one thing that Apple usually isn't known for, price point, is actually the main point of this product. The Xoom is like 799 and doesn't have quite as good specs, but the iPad with 3G starts at 629.

Well, by looking at the pics on apple.com, the iPad 2 does come with that ugly speaker grill on the back. What a bummer because it looks really ugly, I think.

Any chance of a 7 incher "1 more thing?" (One can dream.) :D

Well there goes my hopes of seeing a sneak peek of iOS 5.0 :( Guess its just New Apps that mimic iLife and iOS 4.3 ..

Also ... I guess no Mobile Me news ... :(

I wonder what ordering will be like. I am not going through another iPhone 4. I will wait until I can walk into store and purchase.

for iphone users, will it be free to share 3g with the new personal hotspot?

Agree. 'Facetime' or video phonening (on cheap cellphones) has been available in Asia (Japan and S Korea plus others) for about 5 years or so. No one made a big deal out of it. But the way Apple pushes it, you'd think Apple was first one to invent it.

So personal hotspot is only available for iPhone 4 owners? Wow, so the original iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS is out of luck?

That's normally what "only available for" implies.

oh I'm sorry I was just trying to get a confirmation from someone sir...

I don't know why some of you were expecting a drastic iOS UI redesign today. Such a thing would clearly be reserved for iOS 5, which will surely be unveiled at WWDC.

iPhone iOS roadmaps were all previously announced on march i believe, which why everyone expected an ios 5.0 preview.
