The MagSafe is trash though. How can anyone enjoy fiddling around with th damn thing for 15 seconds every time just to get it to charge.

I think PLENTY OF PEOPLE have love the fact every time they trip over the power cable their Mac doesn't go flying off the table or whatever.... you know, the entire point of it. Something that was ACTUALLY INNOVATIVE by Apple..

All they've done here is copy Razer and boosted prices.

Well that was disappointing, just looked at apple.ca:

Last Generation Macbook Air:
$1,199
Using non-HD screen
4-Generation Old CPU (Broadwell, Skylake, and Kaby Lake)

Last Gen Old MacBook Pro:
Starting Price: $1549
4-Generation Old CPU

Current Generation MacBook:
Starting Price: $1,649.00
One Generation Old CPU

Current Generation MacBook Pro:
Starting Price: $1,899.00
One Generation Old CPU

Ok, so Dell, Razer, I am looking at you to replace my Macbook Pro 13 2012.

For those who missed the keynote, here's a recap.

Warts: "Touchbar touchbar touchbar touchbar touchbar. Here to tell you more about the touchbar is the only funny and non-annoying one of us, Craig Federighi."
NO!!! Ferengi is the most UNfunny and annoying of them all. The Smarm Olympics Gold Medal Winner... Craig Ferengi ( not a typo )

just remember folks, it is the BEST MBP EVER.
Yeah. With the best Mac display they've ever done, even.
Their lucky streak is simply unprecedented. It's been over 40 years, and not once did they have to get up there and announce that a new model is worse than its predecessor. Man.

So, I really need a new laptop. For those who have switched over to Microsoft, or have seen the Microsoft event yesterday, what would you recommend as MBP 15" replacement? Need it for intense design, and some after effects and video work.

Get a Surface Book. New one is 16 hours. And Surface Books actually go the advertised battery life.

Let's be 100% clear about this. They got rid of MagSafe so they could make it thinner. Steve Jobs would have fired somebody for just even stating such a terrible idea out loud. If you are actually a PRO Apple User.... you are outraged right now.

MacPro DEAD
Mac Mini DEAD
Displays DEAD

Apple WITH Steve Jobs.... insanely great!
Apple without Steve Jobs.... just insane.

Yes... I couldn't agree more. It looks like my next Mac will be a Hackintosh. If Tim was standing in front of me right now I would be tempted to bitch slap him. There are so many things wrong that I don't even know what I'm upset the most about, for the pro users this is a massive cluster****.

While I don't suggest the jump to Windows, if you really really want to get a Windows laptop, I suggest anything from XMG, or if you want to go for a larger brand, go for Lenovo. If you go for Lenovo make sure to uninstall all the bloatware that comes with them.
Make sure it has at least a Skylake CPU, at least 16GB of RAM, 2 or 3 SSDs (M.2 PCIE if possible), or if you go for external drives, at least 1 PCIE M.2 SSD. Sizes depend on your money.

Having said that, I don't recommend laptop for video work, unless you need the portability.

You know, if they had a multi-touch display, they wouldn't need that stupid touch bar. I would imaging Final Cut Pro would be more useful if you could swipe through the timeline on the screen. Imagine that?

Cook gone? What I have been saying for a very long time. I warned people about him.

Forstall? He is totally gone and won't return. He will never, ever, ever return as long as Phony Ive is there. And Cue. And Schiller. And Williams.

This keynote was garbage and an insult to the desktop products they neglected. They thought it would be "cute" and "clever" to copy Nintendo's strategy of leaking a product before the keynote. Big mistake. What Nintendo did with the Switch reveal was brilliant. They didn't have to say anything but show it and this alone makes us want to find out more about it once they're ready to talk more.

At this stage I would clean house and maybe hire that Panay guy from MS, he's been doing a bang up job with the Surface line.

If you want crazy battery life get a Surface Book, if you want better portability with meh battery life get a high end Surface Pro 4. I have a SP4 and love it, but the battery life is pretty mediocre (around 6hrs with normal usage, 4 if I'm pushing it).

Sweet, thanks! I'll look those two up. Battery life isn't a big deal, but would be nice to have. I keep forgetting the Surface machines runs Windows10, I keep thinking they're like iPads with a different OS. Need to get reacquainted with Microsoft products again.

Go to a third-party laptop seller.. browse a few PC magazines for recommendations.
In the UK, PC Specialist is popular and well regarded.
And spec up a machine with exactly what you want.. processor, storage, ram, etc,
I recently got a laptop with better specs than the just-unveiled MBPs.. and it cost a quarter of what they are going to be selling at. A QUARTER!!!. 75% less.

Which laptop was that? Link?
