16GB of RAM... Come on at least [offer a] 32 [option]. Joke

Jokes on us.

No 32GB option - Apple has kept the max ram for a Macbook Pro (since Q1 2011) at the same 16GB limit for 5 and now 6 years?!

AND... this... "touch bar" makes up for the fact the new MBP lacks the processing, GPU, and system memory requirements NEEDED for creative professionals today!

Wow Timmy, just wow

This even can be summed up in one word..SHAMEFUL. Tim Cook needs to be gone yesterday. Steve should have named Forstall as CEO, at least he could look up "innovation" in the dictionary.

The least that you could do, if you respect Jobs so much, is respect his decision in appointing a successor.

It looks like they are making a pivot. The desktop models are now being treated with a "not so much," and maybe they are being allowed to bleed out.

I do think the laptops are nice. With the 12" Macbook and its light size, I think others could see that it was only a matter of time for the Air model to be obsoleted.

I still think there's something in store for the iMac...desktops aren't dead...although it might be the swan song for the mini and the Pro.

Happy with last years model
Good because
This is the beginning of the end.

Holy crap, I can't believe what I just saw.

Apple has SERIOUSLY gone off the deep end, and Steve's departure is being FELT now.

Better snap up the refurbs and remaining stock of current hardware folks.

Apple killed the Mac today.

AMEN TO THAT. Miss Steve terribly

What, really, were you expecting? We have gotten to the point where computers, be they phone-based, tablet-based, laptop-based or desk-top based are about as good as you're going to get, without a huge shift to some yet to be developed new technology in computing power, battery, screen, storage, case materials, etc.

There's still plenty, and I mean PLENTY of room to play around with UI and interaction methods.

...which is Apple's current biggest problem, since they seem dead on intent on pidgeonholing their entire product catalog along its methods of interaction (iPad is for touch, Macs are for trackpads), while MS is going for a more holistic approach, allowing you to pick and choose the best method of interaction for the task at hand, regardless of what you're using.

This gives MS a lot more flexibility to do interesting things, while Apple will be stuck basically iterating the same basic products with only incremental improvements until they jump out of this mold they've set for themselves.

The Touch Bar is cool, but MS can copy it's features just by slapping a few icons along the bottom of their already touch capable screens.

Interesting how even the base MacBook Pro is now $200 more expensive. No more $1299 "Pro" models. I suspect they will keep the MacBook Air around a little bit longer if only to have a product below $1000.

I have a theory.

In a few months time, these will be upgraded with Kaby Lake processors. There will be a brief mention of the refresh during a future Apple Key Note event and the closer will be they're $200 cheaper... Faster CPU, Faster GPU, more efficient, cheaper. I don't see how Apple will be happy with their sales figures at these asking prices, especially given the competition. I really do like this MBP and want one, but I'm not happy with the price gouging. Might have to wait it out and see if my theory pans out.

99% of all issues on any device are USER error, unless you are using a Note 7 (sorry Samsung)...lol

I beg to differ. I've had guys from Redmond come straight out and tell me that because they have to make Windows work with SO many different hardware manufacturers it's almost impossible to solve all the issues. I wish them luck with their Surface products though.

Pretty sure Apple adjusted CDN pricing when they brought the store back up.

Prior to it going down, the one I was interested in was almost $300 cheaper than what it is now. Could be the cough medicine I'm on right now though.

Anyway, I think I might be out. This could be the final push I needed to say "Goodbye" to Apple.

Oh my good lord. £1,749 for a Macbook with those touch function thingies? Wow, Brexit or no Brexit, up yours Apple. A company with such giant cash reserves don't hedge on currency options? Give me a break. Oh well, is there an equivalent site of MacRumors for Windows? I need to get my hands on these new Surface laptops.

Jesus!!!!! In the U.K. The maxed out 15" Pro is OVER FOUR THOUSAND POUNDS!!!!!! And you can't add any memory to it, their is no option, what you get is it, period, they even charge you ninty quid for 2 more gig of video ram! It's like the iPhone and iPad storage pricing!

Absolutely crazy, the I think the iPad Pro is a MUCH better value product from Apple. I don't think I can ever buy another Apple computer though, they may as well just not make the back removable at all, just weld it shut.

I don't need it but that new Surface Studio is looking very cool...
Brexit FTW!

I feel like as a close to day 1 rMB 2015 early adopter, I got the least hosed of anyone.

Having held out for however long people did, for today, I feel their pain to want to give apple their money but now save it

Time to go PC shopping. I can get 64GB of RAM in a PC Laptop, or a paper thin piece of junk. Unreal. There goes my stock. They are giving us no development tools. I am at a loss for words, at least any I can post here. Sad day.. Good-bye Swift....

So, I really need a new laptop. For those who have switched over to Microsoft, or have seen the Microsoft event yesterday, what would you recommend as MBP 15" replacement? Need it for intense design, and some after effects and video work.
The main problem with MS notebooks (Surface Pro and Surface Book) is the Screen size. The Book is only 13.5" while the Pro is 12.3.
I was just pricing the difference between the Surface Book with performance base and the New 15" Macbook Pro. The Mackbook Pro is about $100 cheaper for the same configuration. The only question is what processor MS is using. They just say 6th Gen Intel Core i7. I can also configure the Mackbook Pro with High specs, if I want to. The Surface Book has less option on Configuration. I work with a guy that just turned in his Surface Book and got an iPad Pro because of screen size. If you going to use it more as a Tablet than Labtop check out the Surface Pro. The other thing he hated about the Surface Book was the short Battery life with the Screen detached.

Amen. I'll hang onto my 2012 Mac Pro until I make the switch to Linux and a new Xeon workstation next year. Thanks Apple, it's been fun the last 14 years.

I really liked their operating system. Very sad and disappointed. My next machine will be a HP. And once my desktop is no longer part of the Apple ecosystem I'll be keen to see what other manufactures have to offer in the way of Smart Phones, Tablets, etc.
