Too much time on too little. The touch bar could be useful, but not 90 minute presentation useful. Maybe 30 minutes for that and everything else new in the MBP. Really wish they revamped the entire Mac line. Not only does every Mac need a real update, but a much better use of the 90 minutes.

While I don't suggest the jump to Windows, if you really really want to get a Windows laptop, I suggest anything from XMG, or if you want to go for a larger brand, go for Lenovo. If you go for Lenovo make sure to uninstall all the bloatware that comes with them.
Make sure it has at least a Skylake CPU, at least 16GB of RAM, 2 or 3 SSDs (M.2 PCIE if possible), or if you go for external drives, at least 1 PCIE M.2 SSD. Sizes depend on your money.

Having said that, I don't recommend laptop for video work, unless you need the portability.

Thanks for the specs, I'll have to research that a bit more. No problem with removing bloatware. Thoughts on the ThinkPad X1 Carbon? :D No major video work, just some, and love the portability. I WAS waiting for a new iMac to use on the side, but might just get an old refurb. Open for options right now :)

Well I'm out. It was another fun Live Coverage here at MacRumors. The Keynote sucked, the prices are too high, and even though I just wasted 2 hours watching a keynote that had nothing good in it, I enjoyed reading and laughing with you all.

Take care everyone!

They’ve just driven off all the people who attempt to wade into the waters of getting a mac with an 800-1000 MacBook option, anyone remember that? Just to show people how incredible it was to use OSX and not restrict them trying it by price? And don't say 'use an iPad' because those aren't computers.

Its a little sad.

You know, if they had a multi-touch display, they wouldn't need that stupid touch bar. I would imaging Final Cut Pro would be more useful if you could swipe through the timeline on the screen. Imagine that?

Oh yeah, screen full of fingerprints, sounds great... also with no brace behind it so it pushes back every time you touch it.

Not one word...

Yes they did. 10 hours.

Jesus!!!!! In the U.K. The maxed out 15" Pro is OVER FOUR THOUSAND POUNDS!!!!!! And you can't add any memory to it, their is no option, what you get is it, period, they even charge you ninty quid for 2 more gig of video ram! It's like the iPhone and iPad storage pricing!

Absolutely crazy, the I think the iPad Pro is a MUCH better value product from Apple. I don't think I can ever buy another Apple computer though, they may as well just not make the back removable at all, just weld it shut.

I don't need it but that new Surface Studio is looking very cool...

I think I am with you, I love all my other apple products but this may be my last iMac unless they do something amazing with it. If i get another desktop I will just custom build a PC for games i guess and just use all my other apple stuff for the day to day stuff

Not to me, this looks very comfortable. Much better than making the whole screen touchable.

"Touch surfaces don't want to be vertical. It gives great demo but after a short period of time, you start to fatigue and after an extended period of time, your arm wants to fall off."Steve Jobs
What about positioning the stripe at the bottom of the keyboard, or make the whole space beneath the keyboard one large touchpad. Again, I ask, why not make other apple devices capable of touchpad control via WIFI, Lightening, or bluetooth?

I'm an Apple user since the early 90ties, and this one was so horribly disappointing. Thank god I am no notebook user, so I can use hackintoshes. I just checked the german Euro prices on the new MBPs and ... jesus holy moly.

The traffic at tonymacx86.com must be going through the roof right now.

Oh yeah, screen full of fingerprints, sounds great... also with no brace behind it so it pushes back every time you touch it.

So because the feature is there means you would automatically have fingerprints all over it? Interesting logic... I didn't know choice now means force.

Sarcasm aside, you could just... you know, not touch the screen?

Prices will come down 200 or more at least, I guarantee it.
It's called supply and demand. 12" base macbook's going to be 999 next year.

This was an absolutely worthless update! It would have been cool to see a wireless keyboard with the touch bar. The days of having a Mac with the iconic glowing Apple logo are now in the past. It is really a shame that after all this time since the last Mac refresh this is all they have to show. What are they doing, are they gathering in circles in the new apple building finessing over the amazing innovation that is going to bring. What will that do for me, oh boy a Space Ship with sheep running around.
So sad to say but I am really considering a Surface Studio. I was really hoping for a new iMac design with SSD options as standard. I am fearing that they are trying to figure out the best arrangement for the only ports which will probably be 6 usb C ports that they are going to put on it.

They call it 2nd-gen butterfly, so it's not the same. Could you at least try it out once before you declare it to be garbage? Much appreciated.

Thats why i said IF its the same, they can call it version 15, but if it still has so little travel: garbage
