Of course they gloss right over how most of the 7" tablets have higher resolutions. Still not bad though, curious if that price rumor is true.

Amazon still has the same ipad 3 tradein price it had last week so those who are looking to go in that direction might want to lock it in now. I always intended on skipping the 4th gen ipad so I don't feel very slighted. Not buying the ipad mini though since they've now shown they're perfectly okay with upgrading devices in 6 months. Screw that.

The craziest thing is that optical media is literally not dead. CD and DVD is dying, but Blu-Ray is the new form of optical media. The fact that Apple continues to pretend it doesn't exist is the most mystifying thing that has ever happened in the world of technology.

They are really trying to push the whole Cloud thing but not everything is available for the cloud yet. I really do not want to repurchase my blu-ray movies to stream over the cloud I rather get it ripped and wish iTunes was allowed to that. Heck, what does this mean for Microsoft Office would we be able to download this from the App store? I have not seen it available yet in the App store. There are a lot of Apps that still use Discs to install. Apple is correct about the future that everything will be available through cloud or online but I still think it is too soon. Look at the limitations for Netflix and amazon streaming has or even ISPs that cap your Bandwidth usage.

I bought the new ipad in July. I am just as happy with it today as I was yesterday.

How so? It still works well. I'm keeping my 3rd gen iPad. It's mostly a spec bump. Note that it didn't get a significant redesign (it isn't thinner, lighter, etc.). It makes sense now that the chipsets are available for Apple to support LTE in more markets, and they obviously want to push out the Lightning adapter. They could have done just that, but they decided to throw in a faster processor. That's a good move, as far as I'm concerned. It keeps it fresh for the holiday season. I'm sure some people would have been leery of buying a 3rd gen iPad in December thinking that a new one was around the corner in February or March. This way it is "fresh," and it sets a precedent for potentially more frequent, more incremental updates.

So at this point we can all agree apple is becoming evolutionary instead of innovative.

What a BS!
Question: why no Retina display???
Answer: So apple can release a new one next year telling us what a fantastic update is it and how magical it is (to get into yours pockets) AGAIN
**** APPLE I WILL STAY WITH ANDROID

$329?

And they compare it to the Nexus 7 today that isn't even in that price range?

Personally it should of been 7 inches.

Not really into it

For all the Ipad 3 owner that are upset about the Ipad refresh...settle down. It's not like there are a bunch of apps that need more power and can't be run on the Ipad 3. The extra power isn't even needed yet. The Ipad 3 will run every app flawlessly for a long time.

I bought the 3rd gen iPad back in March when it first came out and this doesn't upset me at all. It's been almost 7 1/2 months since then and I'm glad to see Apple moving forward and not holding to a strict once a year update cycle.

I feel the same way. Let them upgrade if it makes financial sense. Upgrade as much as they can get away with.

It's a bit odd that they kept the iPad 2 around rather than make the "old" 3rd gen iPad the new base model. I guess it's to emphasize even more that the 4th gen is mostly a spec bump, and that 1024x768 is still a true iPad resolution.
