So if a new 4th generation ipad was just introduced...why is there not a price cut across the board on the ipad 2 and 3rd generation models?

Very confused. Oh, and that $329 price point sucks.

After watching the pricing structure of iPad's lineup, are you guys seriously telling me that iPad 3 users didn't just get screwed?

We did not get screwed. There is no contract when buying a product, even implied. Buy it if you want it or wait or don't buy it at all..

For all the Ipad 3 owner that are upset about the Ipad refresh...settle down. It's not like there are a bunch of apps that need more power and can't be run on the Ipad 3. The extra power isn't even needed yet. The Ipad 3 will run every app flawlessly for a long time.

True.

They didn't really add much to the 4th iPad, only brought it up to the iPhone 5 tech level. I hope a 5th iPad is coming out next spring/early summer with actual advancements. Then I'll upgrade from my iPad3.

Comparing the new 32GB Nexus 7 to the 32GB Mini, the Nexus has a far faster CPU, a slightly better GPU, a standard USB port, a higher resolution screen and thus far higher PPI, but yet costs over $180 less. Sure, the new iPad Mini will be a hit.... People will also surely love the new crapple maps app on iOS 6, which will work even better since the wi-fi mini will not a have a GPS, unlike the Nexus 7 and passbook will work great, especially with no NFC capabilities, again, unlike the Nexus 7. What a failure of a product Apple his excreted...

"Starting at $329 for 16GB Wi-Fi model."

Aaaaaaaaand that's where Apple lost me. Nexus 7 and all the other competition wins again.

There are plenty of things that make the iPad superior to the Nexus 7 and competition. Even at an $80 premium (currently $249 for 16 GB N7). If the mini screen doesn't cut it - I just won't have a 7 inch tablet.....the N7 didn't cut it for me.

Just doing some quick math.....

I need to spend about $11,000 to not feel like a second class citizen again. Thank god Apple kept the investment so minor this time around. Cheaper than therapy!

You are defining yourself via Apple Products? YOU SHOULD GET SOME THERAPY!

The 4th gen iPad is more like a iPad3s. Not this huge improvement, just upgraded insides. I would expect to see a thinner version in Feb still, so this should be one of those take it or leave it upgrades.

Anyone notice how this lineup of products works now.

MacBook Line:
- Macbook Air (the 'mini')
- Macbook Pro (the last-gen models with minor updates)
- Macbook Pro Retina

iPad
- iPad Mini (the 'air')
- iPad 2 (the last-gen models with minor updates)
- iPad Retina

Pretty smart lineup, but a big shame about the poor pricing on the iPad mini. $299 would have been more like it.

Is Forstall absent?

Not seeing Forstall sitting in the front row. Wouldn't he normally be present at an iPad event?

LOL at Tim Cook saying that "we promised 2012 would be a year filled with innovation and we think we kept our promise"

What innovation? Everything one or more of the following: higher resolution, thinner, lighter, faster, remove optical drive, change connection port

Basically a year of spec bumps ... what innovation has there been since the iPad and iPhone 4 design?

I'm thinking about just keeping my iPad 3. My iPhone 5 already has the a6 anyway. Everywhere I see online, I won't get back close to the over 700 dollars I paid for my verizon 32gb iPad.

Well, that's what people are like. We're competitive. Some need to have the nicest car, or the biggest house, or the most expensive watch/shoes; and some need to have the newest gadget.

I could laugh at them for being silly, but I'm probably as obsessive as them about different things, so there's no point.

If you want to always have the latest of everything at every moment, you better have a lot of $$$. Study hard in school kids.

Competitive people...yikes

Ya you're right - double the performance, double the graphics (which was already lightyears ahead) with that A6X (whose cousin runs the iP5 smoother than butter ;)). They didn't do anything.....

No, it is caching and you can already get it for Windows and Linux. Well, except the windows and Linux one is better cause it can cache writes and write them to the HDD later if you wish. Fusion drive seems to be read only.

I wouldn't really call it a cache drive. Its basically a software RAID with Logic to put things in certain places.

They took the piss, updating the iPad now!

I like the look of the new iMac but I'd worry even more about getting one now because if something was to wrong with it it'd be so much more tricky to repair.

I wonder if they'll change the Smart Cover design for the full sized iPad to the same as the design for the iPad Mini? The metal hinge design was/is the only thing that has stopped me from ever buying one as they scratch up the device ...

A 4th gen already? What the hell Apple. Too many products in 1 year. Me no like Tim Cook.

If you buy this "new new iPad," you are a fool. We now know Apple is fine with a 6-7 month release cadence. The iPad 5 will look more like the new iPad mini and iPhone 5 and will be a full rev and be here in six months.

Don't buy on the "S" refresh.
