Apple definitely overpriced the ipad mini for sure. And they compared it to the NEXUS 7?!? Really? Bad marketing idea on Apple's end.

What a BS!
Question: why no Retina display???
Answer: So apple can release a new one next year telling us what a fantastic update is it and how magical it is (to get into yours pockets) AGAIN

Of course.

The price seems a bit high for basically an in between smaller iPad 2.

After watching the pricing structure of iPad's lineup, are you guys seriously telling me that iPad 3 users didn't just get screwed?

You can HOLD the iPad mini with 1 hand, not USE it. Entirely different thing.

Exactly. You can see most ppl in their own video use two hands. You can use the Mini with one hand as much as you can the full one.

Reminds me of the old days when Apple refused to go to two button mice.

Are you sure that is the reason for no Retina display? Go read up about it before you come to that conclusion.

"Starting at $329 for 16GB Wi-Fi model."

Aaaaaaaaand that's where Apple lost me. Nexus 7 and all the other competition wins again.

$329 is to much...

Search for the old iPod mini introduction thread.

Much too expensive! Only $50 less than the full ipod, wtf! The interface is too old etc.

A year later, it was outselling the iPod making it the best-selling music player in the world.

The same will happen here.

$329?

And they compare it to the Nexus 7 today that isn't even in that price range?

Personally it should of been 7 inches.

Not really into it
Well the popular saying around here is to vote with your wallet. Just wait for the Google event or Windows 8 launch and spend then. The Nexus 7 is going to see 16 GB for $199 and a 32 GB model too. Maybe you can spend the money you save on some nice dinners.

Price sucks, specs suck. I might get an iPad 4th gen, but I don't think it's anything iPad 3 owners should get too upset about. design didn't change, it's not thinner/lighter which is the main thing I was hoping for in a refresh..

The iPad UI just looks so outdated nowadays.

So much wasted space, it's like a children's device.

The surface is gonna take a big dump on this toy come holiday season. Watch out Mr. Cooks. Might want to raise steve jobs from the dead here.

Yeah, I would agree that the UI looks very out of date, but what Apple loses in out of date UI they always make things up with their high density retina display...

Nexus 7 and all those competitors? Oh, those crappy plastic hunks of crap that no one buys? Yeah, they win big time ô_Ö.

Just doing some quick math.....

I need to spend about $11,000 to not feel like a second class citizen again. Thank god Apple kept the investment so minor this time around. Cheaper than therapy!

In a way I'm glad they are doing the iPad Mini. I see no need for it for myself. But defying Steve's proclamations and doing something he poo poo'd is a nice visual sign that this isn't Steve's Apple anymore. Sure they likely have some Steve ideas and designs he road mapped for the next 5-10 years before he stepped down and they will follow much of that, but they will also do their own thing even against his thoughts if they see cause to do it. Or at least tat is the perception they will give to those that don't follow Apple down to every fart to know that Steve recanted himself from time to time

Steve was soooooo much better at presenting new products. Just going back and watching some of his presentations on Youtube makes you realize it. He had a way of speaking that really kept the audience engaged and when he talked about how new and incredible everything was you could tell that first and foremost he believed it (or was at least really good at giving that impression), even if in reality it wasn't new and incredible (kind of like most of today's updates). These guys (Phil, Tim, etc.) come off as so boring and flat. Steve convinced you that you wanted and needed the latest products. And I'm not a Steve Jobs fanboy/worshipper by any means. I just think he was made these presentations exciting. As it is now I couldn't care less if they just made press announcements and released the new products in the store.

Apple should have priced it at $225 to $275 to go up against the kindle HD fire and the nexus.

Apple: look how much better our new iPad mini is than the Nexus...oh btw it's $130 dollars more. -facepalm-

yea because we all know that if you don't have the latest and greatest device ever then we will go crazy....

Well, that's what people are like. We're competitive. Some need to have the nicest car, or the biggest house, or the most expensive watch/shoes; and some need to have the newest gadget.

I could laugh at them for being silly, but I'm probably as obsessive as them about different things, so there's no point.
