True.

They didn't really add much to the 4th iPad, only brought it up to the iPhone 5 tech level. I hope a 5th iPad is coming out next spring/early summer with actual advancements. Then I'll upgrade from my iPad3.

Agree! As a 3rd gen iPad owner myself I would have been PISSED it it was a redesign or something, but it is not; new connector, new processor, same HEAVY device lol.

I don't think though that they will introduce a new iPad this spring, I read somewhere Apple will shift iPads to summer, and I think what happened today seems to suggest this theory.

No iTunes!!!??

They said it would be released in October and theres only a week left. I was really looking forward to trying it out today. :(

Apple homepage looks broken. Looks like the Apple web team was caught with their pants down during the update.

LOL at Tim Cook saying that "we promised 2012 would be a year filled with innovation and we think we kept our promise"

What innovation? Everything one or more of the following: higher resolution, thinner, lighter, faster, remove optical drive, change connection port

Basically a year of spec bumps ... what innovation has there been since the iPad and iPhone 4 design?

I'm not going to say that there's been no innovation. To make these devices thinner, lighter, etc. requires a complex level of engineering. It may not be thrilling to the consumer, but it's impressive nonetheless.

What about iTunes 11? I'm sick of the same product milking I've come to see over the past few years, I was mainly watching for iTunes and they didn't even mention it.

If you don't think "higher resolution, thinner, lighter, and faster" aren't innovations for Apple products then I'm not sure what you're expecting.

"Grilled-cheese maker" isn't going to make the list anytime soon. Those ARE the things that anyone who knows Apple would have expected.

Love how the keynote ended with the colorbar test screen and tone like back in the 70's when the tv transmission went off around midnight. "we hope you enjoyed our day of broadcasting here at apple tv........."

Really impressed with todays announcements. Not what I expected for the iMac but I think over time people will adjust.

Nice little Mac Mini update too.

Monitoring StockTwits in another tab... Typical comment: Apple doesn't understand price-points too well, so let's drop the price a few dozen points.

Clueless investors who don't understand technology advancements.

i dont have an iMac nor do i need one or an odd but i dont get it. does it hurt u to have the option on an DESKTOP?

It potentially could. Legacy technology, particularly ones with moving parts such as an ODD, are more likely to be prone to failure.

And please don't forget, you still have the option. It's called the external ODD.

Apple should have priced it at $225 to $275 to go up against the kindle HD fire and the nexus.

It supposedly costs $200 to make. Apple isn't going to start selling at razor thin margins. Naturally, the Street didn't like the price either, as the stock is down about $16 (from about -$4 before the announcement). However, I'm guessing this will sell well.

I didn't hear them explicitly stating the ipad mini to carry a retina display? Did they?

WHAT?!? 7 Months and a complete refresh. Apple, you SUCK. Thanks for tossing me and a bunch of others under the bus.:mad::mad::mad::mad:

you and all of your friends are a bunch of tools. i have an ipad 3 and still working pretty good. tech moves on, and fast. get used to it.

That's Bull

I think it's more about unifying everything under the lightning connector.

They didn't unify the iPad 2 or the 4th Gen iPod Touch they are currently selling, they must be feeling the heat from competitors. Seriously, why make a rush to update when Apple continue to proclaim how there's no beating the iPad..

Comparing the new 32GB Nexus 7 to the 32GB Mini, the Nexus has a far faster CPU, a slightly better GPU, a standard USB port, a higher resolution screen and thus far higher PPI, but yet costs over $180 less. Sure, the new iPad Mini will be a hit.... Most people I know have $200 to literally throw away... What a failure of a product Apple his excreted...

Well, Apple has always been pricey anyway. But I think the two main things that make it better than the Nexus 7 is the fact that it has a back camera and a great app store that fits it well. Obviously not for someone willing to spend only $250. In that case Nexus 7 is the best choice. But I find that Apple products, ESP the iOS devices, are more dependable than any android. Just my opinion.

Am I the only person who thinks the iPad is fairly 'meh'? Have got a third generation and am pretty disappointed in it.

Think I'll chuck it in and get a new Air.

Not to be sexist But i see the ipad mini as being very girlish like a ereader that fits in your purse.

And at that price if buying the 32GB for $429 why not just save the extra for the bigger screen and retina on the 4th Generation iPad 16GB?

Seems a little expensive, but that's never been an issue for Apple. Apple about to get even more sales and kill the smaller tablets
