4s = 5 ??

So, why didn't Apple avoid all this hubbub, and the inevitable disappointment by just calling this thing the iPhone 5? Why even bother with the name 4S?
 
All I can say is....

I Told you so!!

Rumors are great, but they are just that, Rumors, not facts and when taken as facts, they lead to disappointment!!

I still wish they had taken that guy betting his house on!!
 
My big questions...

Is Siri available only on the 4S or will it be available on the 4 or any other platforms? The tech that makes it work is likely mostly hosted on dedicated servers, not the phone itself, so it should be able to work on at least the 4. Also, will Siri be free or will it cost extra?
 
I don't see the point in dropping that much money on a 64 gig when we can cloud everything now...

No. It's available for the 3GS and above (AFAIK).

Most people here are too stupid to see what Apple are doing here. Buffering out the range to 3 devices rather than 2 to cash in more new customers. The iPhone 5 will be around the beginning of next year and will set the benchmark again. You only have to see Apple allowing to break their device cycles and allow the white iP4 to arrive so late.

Maybe old school 3GS owners are now starting to get greedy with wanting more and loosing out not being part of any exclusive iPhone owners club anymore. Boo-hoo.

Well done Apple. Innovating sensibly rather for the sake of getting spec numbers ahead of the rivals.
 
no iphone 5 !!!, now I dont have to worry about my non-existant upgrade eligibility
 
That was probably the biggest let down of all time. They didn't announce anything we didn't already know or figured out 5 months ago. No innovation what so ever.
 
wow - what a let down.


the 4s is better than the 4 - but it's not special or "magical" like we'd expect from apple.

It does a lot of things you can't do with Google. Google's voice integration is just a combination of dictation and a better library of voice macros than Apple's previous Voice Command feature.

This is natural language processing and artificial intelligence.
 
I don't know about the rest of you, but I plan to pre-order it on the 7th. Sure, it's an incremental upgrade, but it's a nice improvement nonetheless with the new Siri software.

I doubt there will be lines around the block on the 14th, but it will sell decently until the iPhone 5 comes out. Don't be surprised if they go back to a June or possibly September rollout date.
 
Looks like all these "speculators" showing off new case designs and such were nothing but a scam.

The 4S sure looks very similar on the exterior to the 4.

Disappointed.
