iPhone 4S

It's not what I wanted, but it's what I expected.

However, I have a true question. When will the next iPhone come out? I'm not trying to be a smart ***, I really want to know. If it's back to the traditional June, I'll wait and go for the new one. If it's October 2012, I may get the 4S.

Why the hell are people mad about the missing iPhone 5? This is the same pattern that followed with the 3G and 3GS, and will continue with the 5 and the 5S.

People are silly nowadays.
Because the iPhone 4 had more issues than the iPhone 3G, and this iPhone is about 3-4 months later than expected.

Really? people here thought Apple would release an iPhone 4S and a iPhone 5 today? Apple is doing the same thing with the 3G than 3GS then redesign iPhone4 now iPhone4S then strong chance iPhone5 is completely redesign. This iPhone 4S is pretty nice but I'll wait til next year to upgrade from my iPhone4 just as I didn't upgrade frome the 3g to the 3gs, but I for sure wouldn't say this is a disappointment.

I think now that the capacity is up to64GB is going to sell allot of phones. I would buy one just for the 64GB capacity alone. No other phone has that capacity.

$399 is very steep for a 64GB device, considering having access to iCloud and iTunes Match (for a mere $25) will make excess storage unnecessary. I would say 90% of the storage on my iPhone is used by music. With iTunes Match, I won't even need the 32GB, I'll just download my music as I need/want it.

These are some seriously absurd reactions. The iPhone 4 was already the best phone on the market. The 4S is way better than the iPhone 4, and, oh, it's the STARSHIP ENTERPRISE.

And you're all bitching that the screen isn't bigger?

Heh. Surprised they didn't release the "5". Whatever. I don't really care about the form-factor, the 4's design is fine. A SLIGHTLY bigger screen would've been nice. But, the dimensions of the 4 are pretty much perfect for me anyway. So, I'm not going to nitpick.

The increase in horsepower under the hood, the GSM/CDMA functionality, the nice new camera, iCloud, iTunes match, 64gb of storage (FINALLY!) and all the improvements of iOS5 all leave me pretty excited. And if that Siri thing actually works well enough to be useful (unlike every piece voice recognition software I've ever tried thus far), that's some nice, futuristic icing on the cake. I'll be grabbing one to replace my old Nokia.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I plan to pre-order it on the 7th. Sure, it's an incremental upgrade, but it's a nice improvement nonetheless with the new Siri software.

I doubt there will be lines around the block on the 14th, but it will sell decently until the iPhone 5 comes out. Don't be surprised if they go back to a June or possibly September rollout date.

They day it is released it becomes the best smartphone in the world and will probably stay there for a while. The iPhone 4 has retained that position this entire time, up until the 4S comes out.

People disappointed by this have nobody to blame but themselves for making up crazy and wild expectations not rooted in anything but their own imagination.

16GB iPhone 4 $99

The 16GB iPhone 4 is only $99 on a 3 year contract in Canada. So they are downgrading it to an 8GB iPhone 4 for the same $99!!!:eek:

Better go get one today if you are thinking about buying an iP4

Now we know why Steve gave up day to day operations of the company. Didn't want to be part of this presentation. Samsung must be laughing right now.

wow. well ill still upgrade in nov and dec so.
notice how they said no iPhone 5......yet, maybe these are the internals testing for new design

The whole "gorgeous" "amazing" innovative" schpiel only works when you have something utterly new to bring to the market. Trying to use hyperboles like that on a speed bumped device just made them come across as delusional to me.

Thoroughly disappointed given the momentum Android has at the moment.

What momentum is that?

Android is losing momentum versus iOS on a daily basis.

You should probably wait for the iPhone 32S, I hear the A32 chip will have the power to command animals.

Yeah, I got the iPhone 4, with the teleporter and mind link function. But I have to upgrade to the 4S, the 4 makes me look like a hillbilly. (ATHF fans will get that reference :) )

You know, I'll point out to the people who are saying, "Oh, gah, another S upgrade, I don't want to be on the S upgrade schedule." I will point out the S models seem to last longer on how well they run apps cause they are the ones that get the new processor. The non S upgrades tend to get at most a small bump in speed (shoot, the 4 was already feeling slightly laggy a few months after it came out). I wonder if what happened to the 3G will happen to the 4 (where next year the 4 won't run the new iOS well and only do a few features. While note the 3GS this year will run everything the 4 will run on the new iOS).

i don't see why anyone wound choose android because they were disappointed this wasn't iPhone 5. in speed tests the same chip in my iPad 2 was more than twice as fast as the top android phone, my 5mp camera took better photos than my friends android phone so this 8mp camera will blow any android phone away. iOS 5 is packed with more features than the latest android system.

So basically they gave a us a bit of a better camera, faster phone when the 4 is already fast, and more voice control options..... This is defiantly the most lackluster iPhone update. I true-fully could care less about a new design but there is little new in this device....

Now become?

Nope. they have been that way for a while. They either copy base ideas that can't be protected or license the idea. On a few occasions when they feel that the protected idea shouldn't be because it is too basic they copy it and get the protection knocked out in court when they are sued. Just like all businesses do.

And Apple doesn't hide that it copies. Their 'defense' is that they don't just copy the idea, they do it better. Sometimes that's true, sometimes not so much. But that is their game plan and has been for a while

Take a look at the "smart phones" before the iPhone 1 and now take a look at them. See if your comment validates. It won't.

Very non-magical, not sure why they bothered. Should've waited until they had something gamechanging ready for release rather than this half arsed effort.

3GS free is pretty important move. I'm surprised at it, but it will extend the iOS market into the low end. Also all the used iPhones that will start to flood the market will make the low end cost of being an iPhone user lower.

I'm disappointed in the 4s, not because of what it is, but because I had high expectations for what it could be. With that being said, yes I'll get one. Two actually. I just hope they don't release an LTE enabled iPhone in like February.

Big-time let down!!

You know I've owned the iPhone from day 1. I have to say this is one of the biggest let downs over the past 5 years! First time I have ever complained about the iPhone. 16 months for a slight bump in speed and Siri!?!?!?! This is BS.
