TO ALL AT&T CURRENT COSTUMERS PLANNING TO GET THIS PHONE: Just remember, if you upgrade, they will lock you on a 24 month contract, meaning that if Apple indeed release the iPhone 5 sometime next Jan or Feb, you wont be able to get until Oct. 2013! as Att does not grant an 18 month period before an upgrade.

I would think twice before getting it folks. 3 more months and we might get what we all expected from Apple.

just my 2 cents.

Of course you can get 'it' if 'it' comes out January or February next year. Just pay the full price and sell the 4s. Easy.

What is all this whining about screen size? This is your phone, not a primary computer! A lot of those massive Droids look like they won't even fit in your pocket!

Seriously, the current iPhone size is perfect. If you want a big screen, buy a tablet. Don't whine.
Perfect For You

the free 3gs with contract. Seriously....most people that are NOT super savvy and are just waiting for an "iPhone" will jump at this. It's free, it's most likely now on their carrier, and then can now have an iPhone. Ya, they can't play the top-level games, or talk to their phone in normal language, but they can do 95% percent of the same stuff and it is free.

I bet 3gs outsells 4gs.

I wonder what they're gonna do in Japan, were the 3GS (8 GB) AND the iPhone 4 (16 GB) are already free with a 2-year contract...

If I can get a 4S free, I'm OK...

what happens if I go to the apple store right now and ask for a 16GB iphone 4? How much were they yesterday, and will the price be the same today?

My personal recap:
  • iCloud - Yawn, I still don't want my personal stuff in the cloud. Amazon will be doing this stuff next month for half the price.

Half the price of free? Impressive.

My personal recap:
  • Siri - Looked like a case of deceptive advertising. Made it sound like it'd answer ANY question, then they pulled up a list at the end of the limited things it'll really do - which happened to be what they demoed.
  • iPhone 4S - Why 4S and not just call it the iPhone 5? This phone has almost nothing in common with the iPhone 4. To me this is a huge marketing screw-up as many folks will continue to wait for the rumored iPhone 5. World mode is a huge plus, but no 4G is laughable for a supposed top of the line phone.
  • iPod nano - Very cool, but the price is starting to look a bit high. When will developers get access to put apps on this?
  • iPod touch - Nothing new?
  • geofence - Lot's of potential if Apple's model for this catches on - but apparently they don't have a catchy name for it yet?
  • iMessage - What happened to iChat?
  • iCloud - Yawn, I still don't want my personal stuff in the cloud. Amazon will be doing this stuff next month for half the price.
  • Cards - $2.99 for something so impersonal as a printed card sent by Apple?

Don't get me wrong, the 4S is very cool hardware for the iPhone, and the new iOS 5 features are welcome! Nano looks nice. But, no wonder there was no live streaming. I still suspect Jobs' big ego set things up to come across as underwhelming on their first significant announcement under new leadership.

It would be cool if we could design custom clock themes!!

As a consumer I'm disappointed, but I can see that there really is no business case for a major redesign. When you have the #1 and #2 selling smart-phones on the marker, it makes no sense to change too much.
It especially makes zero sense if you're planning a massive price drop.
Fine tuning the manufacturing process for iPhone 4 took a while. They only just managed to get the white ones right, they were unlikely to start from scratch with a new design after just a year. I think this pattern of complete external redesign once every two years is something that will continue.

Still... they could've put the wide home button there.

Tim Cook looked like an idiot with that Lion vs Win 7 chart. What was he thinking?

That was truly idiotic. It just shows how little Apple really had to say today that they went from the dazzle them with brilliance mode to try to baffle them with bs. And that Win 7 comparison was total bs. That wouldn't even fool a fanboy.

Apple doesnt want a competitor for the Ipad. That`s why we don't get a bigger screen. Many people only want to surf with their Ipad and with so many mobile sites you are able to read them with your Iphone and even better if you had a bigger screen...
That's what I said before the keynote...

....surely we can give them a minute to update the website????

bit more then a minute now. Make it 30 and still counting.
Not very thrilled by the 4s. I cannot see me talking in a subway or bus to my iPhone to look something up so limited use for me. Camera is nice but not a wow factor and same with the RAM and the global phone (big deal for all on ATT, unless you want to change to V). I guess I can wait for the 5 with the new design and then really have a hone ready for renewal. :p Can use the geofence though but that will work on my iPhone 4 as well

Yeah but how do you even know that Apple is eventually going to increase screen size? They just never might. A bigger screen would make sense only if they offered it through the same device size. Nobody wants their iPhones to grow bigger. And keeping the size, the screen can be made only a little bigger.

"Nobody" seems to be buying millions of Android powered phones with larger screens and larger overall device sizes.

The market for a larger iPhone exists despite what you or Tim Cook may think.

I seriously would have considered the upcoming Nexus Prime, but I don't want anything to do with Android and their malware-infested Market. Now I'm thinking what Amazon needs to do is is come out with a Kindle superphone that is locked into their Amazon App Store. Anyways Windows Phone Mango here I come!

But yet it has a troll talking...i think they did just what they wanted to.

Or once every 4 years. iPhone 4 was the first in series to get a major redesign. 2g 3g and 3gs look basically the same. Especially 2g looks really similar to 3gs. People keep asking me if they can see my 3gs when I have the 2g.

In their defense, I think they didn't directly compare 'installed numbers' or anything, but 'adoption rate'. Everyone knows Windows has more than 10x times the share of OS X.

Like Babe Ruth to the sick child I called it all.

Kudos Apple, you once again prove why you are the leader of technology... Another massive hit on your hands with the iPhone 4S.

That new iPhone 4S is magical with it's class leading 3.5" screen and 3G technology! Android devices won't be able to compete!

too much drama ... just set your expectations right

I am getting this new iPhone 4S. I've been contemplating buying a new point and shoot camera for a while now and now that this iPhone4S is even better than the iPhone4, I am sold.

I'm not really sure whats important for you guys. I've had my first iPhone3GS 3+years ago (still running strong and snappy) and I am not disappointed at all in the experience. I don't really have a want or need for the latest or greatest. Seeing all the new features in this re-iteration is a blessing. I've wanted the iPhone4 for the longest time and now I can have one but it's even better.

I am a gadget lover but I am not a gadget whore. I will enjoy my new iPhone4S. Thanks Apple!
