Now I'm thinking what Amazon needs to do is is come out with a Kindle superphone that is locked into their Amazon App Store. Anyways Windows Phone Mango here I come!

I sure there is a Amazon Kindle phone in the works. It seems like a logical step after they establish market share with the Fire. Mmm... Mango.

Very meh about the whole thing

After 4 extra months of waiting all they give us is a speed bump and a fancy gimmick that will be boring and unfunny after the novelty wears off after 2 days

Biggest annoyance for me is no upgrade in screen size, the iPhone 4 is way too small now

For the first time ever with an iPhone I think I am going to wait a year for the next one.

I'm not disappointed at all because I cannot upgrade till next year and there is no way I would have payed an early upgrade fee. :)

They were comparing percentages after 20 weeks of release, so it still was an idiotic comparison.

Agreed it was a dumb thing to point out. When you consider how much larger the Windows base is, getting an adoption rate that's even close is a serious achievement, and not in the good way for Apple

Are you still waiting for Steve to come out and announce the iPhone 5? Since he is still running the company and tells Tim what to do and all.

Yeah but how do you even know that Apple is eventually going to increase screen size? They just never might. A bigger screen would make sense only if they offered it through the same device size. Nobody wants their iPhones to grow bigger. And keeping the size, the screen can be made only a little bigger.

Go look at the dimensions of a Galaxy S 2 in comparison to the first one.

Go look at the new laptops coming out with a 14 inch screen with a 13 inch housing.

What you just said makes no sense.

"A higher percent of our clients bought our newest product than our competitor's clients bought theirs".

Dumb to point out, maybe, but true nonetheless.

Stupid because Tim Cook knows that a large % of Windows clients are in IT domain and those take much longer to get approved. Home users just flippantly decide to update a new OS and it happens.

The fact that he did not attend today either shows that he wanted to distance himself from this cluster**** or he really is dying, hopefully the former.

It was disrespectful of Cook not to give Steve even a mention, a thank you for his years of service as CEO or something but instead Steve seems to have been airbrushed from history.

Sure the phone will sell like hotcakes but there is nothing in it that excites me, I would look like a window licking mong if I walk down the street talking to a 4S

Well the iPhone 4S is what I thought it would be but even still Apple manages to surprise me. They yet again improved battery life and made a quick iPhone 4 even faster. Throw in 1080p recording and 8MP on the rear and a 30 fps front cam, and the cameras on this phone could be some if the best on the market.

If this phone has 1 GB RAM, the 64GB will be an unstoppable iPhone and the best one to date.

Care to give a link for the physics changing 14 inch screen which sits in a 13 inch housing? :)

Also, you haven't really responded to any of my original points. Not everyone wants their phones to be bigger. This is a fact. Not an opinion.

Galaxy S2 is slightly bigger than 1st gen, but not as bigger as their screen difference. Still the same resolution though. And that's exactly what I meant in my original post. Apple can make the screen only so much bigger without changing the device size.

(Proudly) Sticking with my iP4.

Disappointment all around.

I have an iphone 4 replacement from just 4 months ago (after 2 with sensor issues and one with a dead microphone) and this one has been perfect as far as iphone 4s go. For some reason I decided to get Applecare on this phone in case I did not go with the iphone 4s/5. That seems to have been a prudent move and now I can relax and enjoy my 4 until the 5 comes out.

I do not use a case (I am careful) but definitely would have preferred a completely new antenna design and a metal backing (with even an RF transparent plastic section for the antennae) with of course the A5 and new camera ie an iphone 5. What was released today does little to convince me to move up to the 4S

It will definitely sell well, that's for sure. I think most of the enthusiasts are disappointed, but it won't make any difference to the general public and this is the market that Apple targets. All Joe Public will see is it's a new iPhone, I want one.

As a long term AAPL stockholder, I'm both relieved and delighted to hear that!:D

Way more enriching than trying to satisfy fanbois, IMHO! (Not implying YOU are a fanboy, of course! ;) )

There's a difference between simply wanting to make money and making great products, the former guarantees a short life span for your company, the latter guarantees making money and a long life span.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-15175034 This article just sprung up on BBC News, pretty much sums up how I felt about the event.

Samsung series 7

Wow, I'm surprised they're still producing the 3GS. I guess sales are still good, which makes sense considering it's free with a contract. And I also think it's fantastic that the 4S combines GSM and CDMA though, that really simplifies thing for Apple and for the consumer.

Still no bigger screen though :( Guess we'll all have to wait for the 5. All I know is that the next iPhone event is gonna be freakin' huge, and unless there's an imminent threat of nuclear holocaust then nothing will stop me from seeing the live coverage.

Serioulsy considering the Galaxy SII now. It does everything I want but intergrate easily with iTunes. And honestly I feel a bit like a dumb consumer to only buy the next iPhone for iTune integration.

I guess mission accomplished Apple. You made it such a pain to break free from you that I may buy a prodcut I'm not happy with.

Maybe I nab a new Nano for music and switch to android for phone....

That's not what you said originally though is it
