I think I would be very worried if my surgeon used an iPad!!! Need to remove your pancreas? Theirs an app for that..... erm, no.

And who cares about sales numbers? Save that for your earnings call, just get on with the updates already..

If they are only putting the A7 in the air and no touch ID. I don't think we are getting a retina mini (just not enough to make them diff...).

Too bad the iPad Air doesn't have a new camera. Was hoping for base 32GB model too. Oh well. Keeping the iPad 2 around? Huh.

TouchID is useless for iPad. TouchiD makes sense for smaller devices which can be held by single hand.

You will have to hold the iPad in one hand use touchid by other. anyway I am fine with not having touchId.

Only A7 chip and still 802.11n wireless. I would have thought it would get AC and a jacked up processor. Oh well.

Not exactly, a similar priced dell server is $2870 and has a 3.3Ghz instead of 3.7Ghz and doesn't contain dual graphics supporting 4k.

For this price ($2870) DELL gives you six core CPU and Dual 2.0GB AMD FirePro™ W5000, 2 DP + DVIi. Is not it the same graphics. Not to mention that DELL also gives a huge selection of superior GPUs.

Hasn't it always been that way?

I suppose it has, but at least with the Mac Pro tower one got a computer that could be upgraded and expanded. $3K on a MP tower would at least get one a nice bit of storage capacity with room to expand with cheap bare HDDs or SSDs. Or if you went with a used Mac Pro and bought used components on ebay, you could get a machine like the one in my sig for about $2K. :p

Now $3K gets you a closed system that will likely require another $300 - $1200 invested in external storage. Apple stripped down the usefulness of the Mac Pro and raised the price considerably more than the retail price indicates. And that $3K will be obsolete faster than the tower Mac Pro since it's stuck with the same GPUs it came with.

It does look like it will at least take a standard Xeon CPU, so most likely we'll be able to upgrade the CPU. But the GPU is what falls behind current tech the fastest. It's just a dumb design.

And internal PCIe expansion and HDD/SSD bays, along with a better ergonomic design with accessable ports on the front of the tower. Towers are the standard for a reason: they are cheap, versatile, and practical.

To add to that, on par with the nVidia Quadro cards which are more for rendering than for items like gaming.

That was true in the past, when you had to get a gaming card for gaming, and a pro card for editing. These days I get the impression that GPUs have homogenized a bit, and the only difference between the two is that pro cards generally have more ram and stream processors on them.

A pro card be about as good at gaming as the generation line it's based off of, though getting one just for gaming would be WAY overkill. You wouldn't be getting a lot of bang for your buck there.

I was dead set on getting a new macbook but i'm going to buy an iPad air instead. Never owned an iPad before.
