Apples stock does this after every single product announcement. Yet people always seem so surprised by it.

I just think people read into Apples stock price entirely too much. Their is a lot more to a stock price than just "how well" the company is doing in the other areas.

I am not saying apple isn't doing well it just looked like a few investors were not too happy with the event is all. Apple will be fine I just think they did a few things wrong then again I am not the biggest company in the world so who am I to say haha.

So there's even less reason to upgrade iPad 4 -> 5/Air than there was from iPhone 5 -> 5s...

Odd.

Don't understand why they haven't put the better cameras and Touch ID into the new iPad... (oh, is that so they've got something for next year's 'New iPad Air' ??]

It's starting to become blatantly obvious....TRUE APPLE VISION/INVENTION died with Jobs death...

Ives & Co. is only "tweaking" present designs

Aside from MacPRo which 99% of the public do not need...WHAT has Apple developed that is earth shattering???

Eventually the public will stop getting duped by these ridiculous prices for just a little extra battery life and clearer picture.

Cook is just riding out the final waves that Steve Jobs left....not much left in the tank at Apple

I'm guessing you were the same guy who Tim referred to who 3 years ago was out saying the iPad was going to be a flop.

170+ million units later and they're still going strong with over 80% of the market share.

Ipad mini retina available "later in November"? What the **** are they thinking with that? I could see "supply problems" up the wazoo when a whole bunch of people order new minis as Christmas presents and are told that they won't ship until January.

So wait, if the iPad Air has the A7/M7/Retina and the mini has the A7/M7/Retina, are the only distinguishing factors size/weight/battery life? The new minis seem like the way to go (I know I know, they are now $399), that's a HUGE boost.

Seems to be the case! Love it, I'm definitely on deck for an rMini 32GB in white please :)

Plus, the rMini actually has a much higher PPI:

iPad rMini ~324

iPad Air ~264

They are going to have supply issues for sure.

I think, the retina mini just hasn't been ready for mass production yet, probably shy by 6-10 weeks. But they desperately want(ed) to get it out before christmas - and had to announce it today, to avoid the backlash of "failing to deliver a retina mini".

mini is as powerful as an iPad now

The iPad 5 has x2 the graphics of the iPad 6, but uses an A7 (same as in the iPhone 5S, rather than the expected A7X). This suggests x2 GPU frequency - the PowerVR G6430 is so power efficient, it seems it was more strongly underclocked in the iPhone 5S than usual.

The mini 2 has x8 the graphics of the first mini - which had the same SoC as the iPad 2. There was a doubling to iPad 3, iPad 4 and iPad 5, which comes to x8. Therefore, it seems the mini 2 has the same graphics power as the iPad 5.

The mini has the same resolution (2048x1536), CPU and GPU as the iPad 5. It's also lighter (0.73 pounds). It seems like a vastly better deal than an iPad 5 - apart of course from the larger screen!

if routinely doubling the CPU and GPU performance is a "minor tweak" in your universe....

the ipad air dropped a third of its weight, from 1.4 lbs to 1.0. again, just "minor" in your book, right?

Still the same product that's over priced.

you dont have a reply so you just speculate?

nothing as asinine as people who make up other peoples thoughts on past events to patronize their views on current events.

apple cannot make a mistake because they have done some great things in the past?

It helps to read before commenting...Tim Cook is NOT a visionary...he is a numbers guy....makes one wonder why so many developers/engineers have left Apple the last 1.5 years??

He is an incredible marketer but without NEW PRODUCTS that keep changing the landscape, Like iPod, iPhone, iPad did...eventually time will run out.

Exactly what has Apple put out since Cook has taken over that has revolutionized just ONE area of modern-day consumer technology??
iRadio?? lol *snort*

So? It is not like that stock is going to stay down forever.

People will buy the products and buy them in bunches because they work well and they do what the buyers purchase them to do. Developers make money selling apps.

The market never makes sense and watching it fluctuate during a keynote only goes to prove how little it all means. So, I actually agree with you :)

Its pretty simple really, invest in the stock before an event thinking that the company will blow away people, when the investors think that they didnt or they hear it from some analyst on wall street, then they sell , and then buy back when Apple breaks sales records, thats how it works.

yea seriously... i wonder what it will take to blow people away...

they announced a free OSX update, new cheaper computers, new iPads, new software, record iPhone sales...

So here is the good news about the iPad 2 hanging around. That means at least another full year of support for the hardware from iOS7 and maybe into iOS8 without get it getting ye-old bring it to its knees treatment the iPhone 3G/4 and iPad 1 did.

The Nexus 7 has a retina display. What are you talking about?

Yes. And the Nexus 7 is a great device. But the Mini has a larger screen and it really makes a difference. The 7 inch screen is a little too small for document reading. 8 inch scree is better. While the mini remains pocket-able.

As the bigger screen, the mini should cost more. And Google devices are sold at no cost because they monetize the user. So tough to compete with them. Almost an unfair advantage. Amazon also can sell at cost because shareholders are content for the company to make no profit or even lose money. Also very hard to compete against.
