Ya know, I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume they've learned form all the mistakes on the MacBook lines and this one will be a synergy model that achieve product harmony model. Fingers crossed.

I don’t get it. What was/is the point of the rMB if this was Apple’s plans for the MBA all along? Confusing.

I think the rMB was supposed to be entry level. Thinner, Weak Processor; seems like they want to restyle the Air in a similar fashion to the iPad lineup when the iPad Air 2 was still around. It just won’t be that until they bring down the rMB price below the Air.
