Hope the old Air is still around. Need a good Mac to get my Mum to replace her 2010 White MacBook when it looses security support in 2 years due to Apple not bothering to support it with 10.13.

As a "pro" customer I do not care about the "finish". I need

  1. Price
  2. Ports
  3. Customer side repair and upgradeability
Also for it to have a thermal profile that won't fry itself.

1199...

honestly... until I do some good old fashioned spreadsheeting, This doesn't seem like all that unreasonable of an update.

it's one of the only times you might hear me say that an increase in price matches the increase in updates to a machine. a high res screen does cost more than a lower res one. plus the addition on TouchID is new to the Air lineup. both of these as an update from the old air is not bad for $1200.

the problem will lie in what's the purpose of the MacBook then. especially at $1350...

i'd be bitching about that price if they were still using a < 1080p display while raising the price. But at least here, there's a tangible increase in technology for once

lol - it's not hard to be 5x faster than the last model when you've not upgraded in years...

They have been “going away” for years now, and yet USB-A is still the most used port .
Inertia, of course. But it’s clear Apple is pushing USB-C and Thunderbolt. Third party adapters are cheap and plentiful now.
