Legacy apps "just work".

'Legacy apps "just work".'

Apple needs to apply this to the MacOS as well. We should be able to run all legacy applications back to MacOS 1.0 and frankly iOS and MacOS should be merged such that we can run applications on either. A lot of people aren't upgrading Mac hardware because we need access to older data which is used by older applications that Apple no longer supports.

We need Legacy that Just Works.

I feel that the iWatch is completely unnecessary. It needs an iPhone in close proximity (your pocket) to function so why wouldn't I just take my iPhone out of said pocket and do most of this stuff better on a bigger screen?

i honestly dont get the point. it doesnt even have gps built in so you still have to carry around your even bigger iphone now for a run

Looks like single function devices win again in that regard. Garmins are available at a range of prices and will track run and heartbeat and sync that to your Mac with no requirement for carrying anything else.

I was watching this solely for any, even tiny information on the Macs. I guess Apple has become a No-Macs-Land.

If this event would be only about the new MBA 12, it would be worth it. Screw this fashion accessories and iPhone enlargements. Not much about tech specs of either gadget. Lots of hot air though.

Eh ...

This was never supposed to be a Mac event. You're disappointed because you don't understand what this was supposed to be.

Speaks volumes about how familiar many posters here are with Apple that they can't imagine all this U2 business happening "in Jobs' time". This is exactly the kind of thing Jobs would do at the end of just about every iPad or iTunes related keynote ever.

apple is at an all time low. i'm sorry tim. bono can't save your shameful product display.

Well, the iPhone was what had leaked, and the Apple watch literally brings nothing new the table. Sure, the die hards will argue that until the cows come home, but it's true.

The days of Apple innovation are OVER, it's now simply evolution and keeping their fan base happy.

Apple is not going to be able to bring new customers into the fold with product releases like this, it just isn't going to happen.

Time to face reality, Apple needs to get back to "thinking differently" if they expect to be seen as a pioneer going forward.

an apple product selling like hot cakes does not mean its a good product it means they have a fan base that will buy anything

A great product is debatable. People are claiming it won't sell well and I disagree. I'm also not that interested in this watch. I want more health sensors than this, maybe in rev2 or rev3 they'll happen eventually.

You make some good points. The price will come down in the next couple of years anyhow.

Or, they'll continue to add features for the same price. This turned out to be a far better product than I anticipated. Good job Apple!

Also, very wise to not use inductive charging. that would have made it far too big to use.

Everyone complaining about the price of the watch... you are hilarious.

1. It's not a watch. It's a computer. A highly-engineered one at that.
2. $350 is VERY affordable in the overall watch market. Hell, I have several watches in the $500-$3000 range.
3. People pay that much for iPads every day. Actually, at $350 it's one of the least expensive Apple products there is.
4. iPhones off contract are around $700.

Just because you've never paid more than $20 for a Timex in your life... that doesn't translate to this.
Complaints are perfectly valid if you consider that this has reduced functionality from the new iphone they are releasing at $50 less (yeah I know, under contract) or an iPad. Just because you have several watches that are more expensive doesn't translate to this product's value or worth in any way to anyone but yourself. It's all about willingness to pay and which side you lie on in the supply/demand curve. For me I'd say they priced me out by about $100... one day I may get one, but at that price I'm not rushing out for one.

iwatch is useful only for three things

As a watch (which is ugly)
Measure your heartbeats all the time. (freaky)
As a 24h always-in-touch-with-you notifier (give me moment Tim to relax!)

All other apps have no meaning, you can use your iPhone instead.

But, if you have a heart attack, you'll get a notification!

AppleWatch: DING DING - Your heart has stopped. You're about to die!

You: "Siri, call 911!!!"

Siri: "Sorry, I don't have a cell signal. But here are some cached Google search results for funeral homes. See you on the other side!"
