So it would seem this thread quickly turned into complaining and trolling nonsense.....

Probably should let this thread be closed for at least a day or two after the keynote so people can relax....

As someone who will always use Apple products because they fit me the best, I was happy with today's keynote. I'm hopeful the Apple Watch will have more features than were showed (I know it does, but there are some related to how the watch and iPhone work together that I'd like and I'm a bit confused as to how close the two have to be....would love to be able to run without my iPhone).

Just gotta figure out how I can get both the 4.7" and 5.5".....

I'm a Triathlete and I have seen many people using their Galaxy series and Note series phones during workouts. Plus on some runs I go to just about everyone has their huge phones on an armband. Doesn't take long for you to forget it is there.

Interesting! I stand corrected.

Where is the new iPad range? No iPad Air 2?

So they only covered the iPhone and Apple Watch?

What a waste of time!!

Because this is the phone event, iPads are always announced in October, like they have done, I dunno, the last few years. Your comment is a waste of time

I have no doubt that the fanatics will lineup and it will sell out of it's first run but I just can't see this being a HUGE success. It's Apple, of course it will still sell okay.

The Watch is fare better than expected. Being a "HUGE" success is relative. It will be a very successful product for Apple.

If they can pull off the new Apple TV as well as they pulled off the Apple Watch and new payment scheme, Apple TV will be Apple's most successful launch. They pulled off some licensing miracles to do what they've done with these two new products. If they can do the same with media providers, they will own the television industry. The Apple is eating the elephant one bite at a time. Glad I plunked down my life savings when Apple stock tanked a year ago.

U2 IS Apple:

Started out really cool, innovative. Got really big at one point. Did some nice charity stuff.

Then, they completely sold out. Changed their sound. Only showed up at fashion shows and Superbowl Halftimes.

Now, they just wear shades and expect you to drop $200 on a concert ticket to watch them indulge themselves for 2 hours.

No new phone in the smaller form factor, really?
so from 3.5 to 4 and now the smallest size is 4.7 in the new feature set.

Did you seriously expect as much? The 5S, which is still a great device (and now $100 cheaper) is still available as is the 5C for free/$350 (again, great value IMO).

Apple isn't Samsung - they don't pump out 100 different variants just to see if one or two will sell....

if this was the first smart watch, people would be more impressed.
problem is, when rumors start to swirl the Koreans go into the overdrive mode and pump out half-assed products with MANY cool and innovative features that either don't work well or don't work at all. these features get forgotten about in subsequent models

what it does, is it dulls down what Apple launches 6 months later even if their product is more polished. people ask "where was such and such"...."well the android watch does this...so this apple watch is a rip off" etc

if apple wants to have more effective product launches, they really need to buckle down on the leaks. if that means switching away from Samsung as a supplier than so be it.

apple will never be able to captivate the audience like steve jobs did with the iPod, the iPhone, or the iPad until Apple puts a stop to these rogue chinese and korean clowns

If the HTC M7 from early 2013 has a 4.7" 1080p display why can't this new iPhone?

http://www.htc.com/us/smartphones/htc-one-m7/

Apple would have been better just releasing one model (4.7") with all the fixings. And then save the 5.5" two years from now. So we got a semi-premium $200 phone and a top dog $300 product both weighing in at 16GB. At least the Note 4 has 32GB with SD card support out the box for $300.

Been watching all Keynotes for the last 8 years. Have had my doubts and so on, but never been truly let down and felt like Apple did a terrible job. Until today. Holy c*** the Apple Watch is fat, square and has and ugly a** interface. The fact that the keynote was streamed through a connection that made my iPad Mini Retina, my iPhone and my 15" MBPr seem like Windows-products did NOT help with my feeling towards this terrible, terrible release.

And the iPhone? Well, when the iPhone 5 launched I and a lot other guys said "Give me an iPhone that looks like that new iPod Touch, and I will be a happy camper". Today that's the iPhone we got. Though this is two years later, HTC has made that exact phone minus iOS over a year ago and Apple is loosing terrain as the pioneering company fast.

And please, before any of you gives me that old "there's allways someone who hates on Apple" mind you that I have ALWAYS been a massive Apple "fanboy" and supported the company through even great disappointments as antennagate and the whole maps-thing.

Yikes.

I felt same way about the keynote as it wasn't streaming and there was a Chinese voice over for the first 27 minutes. Also, not a huge fan of the new iPhones, feel it's time to change the design but they just keep going thinner and basically the same look/feel. However, and after looking around this forum I guess I am in the minority, but I think the AppleWatch is incredible. Love everything about it...and I have never worn a watch before. I think they absolutely nailed it.

But those $3000 watches are stylish and you don't have to recharge them very everyday. And they do what they do best, which is to tell time. 20 years from now they won't be out dated like a smart watch. Smart watches in general are still very much in their infancy stage and are limited. Battery life is terrible and they are chunky and ugly.

I see personal opinions and things that don't matter here. Most $3000 watches are still ugly to me, and no mechanical watch tells time better than a $5 quartz watch. The fact it has to be charged every night doesn't have anything to do with factoring into price. You are correct that they are in their infancy. That's why I've taken zero notice of them until now. This is the first one that doesn't look cobbled together. They didn't comment on battery life, and I'm sure that's the reason it is delayed until 2015 so they can get a full day of regular use out of it. Chunky? Looks about the same size as my Omega. Ugly? I disagree.

2. Kinda. I bought my Pebble for half that and I don't see a need to update it yet.
3. If you can't see the difference between an iPad (full feature primary device) and an iWatch (a partner device) then I worry.
4. What has that got to do with it?

I've got a couple nice watches and a Pebble for the "smart" stuff. I've spent more than $20 ;).

2. The Pebble is also a (relative) piece of crap. I've played with one a lot and, while it is fairly polished for what else is on the market, it still feels disjointed (like Android). It also has miserable battery life and likes to lock up a lot.
3. Of course there's a difference in feature set and positioning. Thanks.
4. Because they are over twice as expensive and are one of the most popular electronic products ever made.

This was never supposed to be a Mac event. You're disappointed because you don't understand what this was supposed to be.

Actually I did and yet I hoped for something more. Either way, its a sad event.

Phil was talking with the facial expression of "same old, same old ...", while Tim was excited about a new Barbie watch, while its development required hiring of expensive "global experts" and wrapping the package in this Burberry look-a-like PR.

In the old days, innovation at Apple was fuelled by relatively unknown people that had ideas and the end product was released almost in the bullet point fashion, rather than this massive euphoria about .... well, you've seen it.

Ha! I loved the iPhone - thought it was the best idea ever - so that I only need one device to do everything on the go.

The iPhone was a necessity item - the Watch thingie is a tack-on that has an itsy-bitsy screen.

Why did Apple make a bigger iPhone 6 screen - because people need it to see information.

I continue to support Apple, hell I spent 10k on a new Mac Pro. The watch just ain't got what it takes. I have iPhones, iPads, iPods, Mac Books Pros, Mac minis - but, yech, 'F' that butt ugly swatch.

That's just it... not everyone thinks it's an ugly watch. I'm not even a watch fan and I really like it. It's attractive to me. Which means, that (playing the odds) it's attractive to a good many other humans who have money and can, you know, buy stuff.

You liked the original iPhone, but there were millions who didn't. Look at iPhone now. This Apple Watch concept will evolve. Maybe you don't like it now, but maybe you'll like it next year. Or the next. Who knows?

Looks like the ugly gradient is gone. Hallelujah.

Am I the only left-handed person here who noticed that the :apple:Watch seems to come in a right-handed version?

Everyone was wearing it on their left wrist. Lefties wear watches on the right wrist hence the crown is awkwardly placed. Grrrr.

Some are suggesting it might be possible to rotate the watch 180 degrees and wear it on the right hand (with the digital crown on the bottom). If that were truly an option, though, I think Apple might have shown some people wearing it as such...

As a left-handed person, I share your concern! ha

So true, so true!

When will the replay be available? Usually not too long after event finishes is it? My internet broke at 6:00, so I couldn't watch it live. :(

Agree all around. GPS too. I'm fine with it needing the phone linkup for data and such, but you need to be able to run with this thing on and not have to worry about lugging your phone along for the ride.

Agreed - my biggest complaint with the Apple watch.

But that won't stop me from buying one. I'm all in Apple. Lots of cool features and I actually think it looks pretty nice - love the way the bands can be interchanged.
