I paid $750 (US$400) for my iPod and even the most expensive iPhone is nowhere near US$2000. Fees paid to the carrier are irrelevant since you can buy an iPhone outright and still get the OS upgrade for free.
wah. it was a joke

...Fees paid to the carrier arent irrelevant. You cant buy an iPhone without paying a $70/month fee at the very least (thats BEFORE taxes)
C&P, MMS, landscape email/text, push notification, text forwarding, stereo bluetooth, note syncing... wow. They really listened. 3.0 is an absolute home run. Oh, and the ESPN app looks amazing.
(and guess I'll be getting the new iphone to replace my gen 1 so I can use all the new features)
"Forstall explains what data tethering is for laptops, says tethering is supported in 3.0. Also working around carriers around the world to see when the networks can support it"
If it's free, bye Jailbreak and farewell.
Tethering will be down to the carrier by the sound of it
11:34AM Q: Flash? What are you doing?
A: We have no announcements on that topic today. But there are a lot of video streams we can handle. h.264 works great. We're adding HDTV streaming for audio and video. We think there's a lot of great video solutions for a single clip.
Why the hell does MMS require new hardware? It shoudn't at all.

Is this for all developers or just ADC members? I can't seem to understand who it's for. I'm a signed up developer with the SDK, but I don't have an ADC account.
Even though copy+paste is a big deal and I've been waiting for it, there aren't any other groundbreaking new features that I feel make 3.0 worth the risk (crashes, incompatible apps, etc). And as an ipod touch 2G user, paying $10 for copy+paste isn't really worth it.
I'm not sure that "doing stuff it ought to have done from day 1 (or at least 2.0)" qualifies it as a "home run." They're just now officially "not behind" on the feature list. It's nice, and I'm glad this stuff is coming, but let's make no mistaketwo years for a basic function like copy and paste is outright absurd, and they ought to be embarrassed.

Um, no. The competition already has those features.
This upgrade is going to be nice....
Wait.....What was that sound.....
Oh that was just the demand for first GEN iPhones on E-bay falling through the floor... if you have one and want to sell it you better do it now because in a few months everyone will know that some features will not work on that phone.....![]()
