You know although macrumors isn't saying live coverage, I think I'll still wait here for the results because the other websites just aren't as clean as macrumors has been. It is also the reason I come here for mac news/intel because it just looks nicer.

Macworld is open as a tab in my browser, but I don't think it will matter anyway. I'd rather keep the suspense/read it on my favorite news source.

I have email confirmation from Sling Media that they ARE in fact developing an app for the iPhone and that they received the SDK prior to November.

I don't know why, but I've never really looked into sling media before. Now that I have, if they do create an app for the iPhone, better buy will be getting $200 from me as soon as the app is available.

What no one saw coming...

Apple have actually put installer.app like support in iTunes (including the free ones!) and on the move you can simply download and install apps with ease and convenience...

Wouldn't that be good?

cant wait until 10. even if they don't have any apps ready at least we will have some sort of timeline to look forward to :)

If Slingplayer has an App ready today, I'm going to shart myself. That would rock.

Well, I'm really hoping for a Sling app too, but if boygeniusreport.com is to be believed, Sling are waiting for the SDK just like everyone else:

"Here’s what company spokesman Dave Zatz had to say: "The iPhone is an exciting platform and we’re anxious to check out the SDK when it’s made available." So don’t get your hopes up just yet."

That was mid-January, mind you, and might be a complete pack of lies. Who knows?

What are most people thinking...this will just be a beta like rumors are suggesting, or this will be a final release?

Why would you care if it is called "beta"? you could still build your software with it. Obviously Apple has been using the major parts of an SDK since before the iPhone was released. This thing they are releasing is a re-packaging of stuff that is by now quite mature.

I suspect this will be released as a software update to xcode. I do not expect them to ever have a "final release". They will likely just keep going.

Here we go with the "newbie" rumor posts again!

The Slingbox is by far the coolest thing ever invented....ok...except for maybe the iPhone. I absolutely LOVE my slingbox...and cannot wait for this app.

- BBC's iPlayer site now has a "Beta BBC iPlayer for iPhone" badge when navigated to with an iPhone. Coincidentally appeared on the day of the SDK roadmap.

iPod touch Unjailbroken

Hey i just unjailbroke my itouch in observance of the SDK and i hope there will be apps like customize and summerboard wat do u guys think:confused:

Hopefully there are some more 1337 apps. Looks like I'm going to have to play CS:Source until noon. :)

I hope that at the very least if it is "Beta" we can stick our OWN apps on our own iPhones.

You're looking at weeks probably.

We don't know if this is an SDK release or a limited beta.
We don't know yet how different the SDK environment is from the jailbroken one.
We don't know yet if apple would even allow free apps.

Sure, there are lots of rumours, but until Steve says it that's all they are.

Even in the best case were we can load free apps, and the SDK is available today you won't get apps like Customise (which hasn't worked since 1.1.2 btw.) or Summerboard in less than a week or two.

There may well be some good stuff announced today but 'all the apps you ran on jailbroken phones still work' is *very* unlikely to be one of them :p OTOH pwned looks likely to be released today also so you may get the best of both worlds by another route.
