itunes sharing

So does this mean I can finally sync my wife's and my own separate itunes libraries (including separate purchased songs) from two different apple accounts between our computers?

That'd be great.

We both had our own itunes music collections when we got married. We also both have our own iPhones -- so sharing apps would be cool too.

I'm really surprised about the touch...

Some whiny teen can get a $150 nano with a video camera built in, but I can't get one with a $400 touch?

I'm assuming technical difficulties on this one?

Dude, there's no age limit. We adults can buy the nano with the camera.

And I'm surprised at the radio--Apple resisted that one for years. I hate to say it, don't smack me down, but the new Zune including HD radio may have spurred the inclusion of FM radio. The pedometer is a nice touch!

Why not give The iPod touch a camera. But give the nano one? Apple just made a big mistake with this one.

Not to sound like a troll or every other complaining n00b, but I really was hoping for an increase in the touch capacity without still having to pay iphone prices. how is it that even 160g classics still cost over $200?
I love my classic ipod and want to upgrade with something more than my 30g but the price points are out of control for anything over a few gigs. 160g ipod should be at most $199, even that's a stretch with the pice of hard drives now.As for the touch. You can't just up the capacity and not add any other features and then price it at smartphone prices.

An iPhone costs waaaaaaaaaaaaay more than $199... or even $299. Factor in the subscription..

With a touch you now get the same specs and independence of a carrier..

However, the most interesting part was the lack of a camera on the Touch. Can ANYONE explain that? All I can think of is something to do with the crossover on the iPhone, but isn't the fact that it's a PHONE distinguish it enough?
That's what many of us thought…

There's already speculation that it may be due to the manufacturing issues.

No camera in the Touch equals Fail!
Exactly!

of note: 3.1 is $4.95 for iPod touch owners and includes 3.0. that is great news for those who waited on the 3.0 update - you now get both for half of what 3.0 was going for. :)

nice! Now I will upgrade! Istill have my gen 1 ipod touch and I see no reason to even consider changing lol. I hoped they would have put a radio in but sadly no... now the zune HD... I just bought a HDTV so that could be a nice addition...

Rumor is that there is a production problem with the new touch w/ camera. The fact that there were a lot of iPod cases leaked that featured a camera hole tells me it was pulled at the last moment.

wow, there certainly were a lot of people who were "going to go buy an ipod touch today". please, give me a break folks. Yeah, it's disappointing that a camera didnt find its way onto the Touch (I'm putting my money on the technical issues argument and not the differentiation argument), but seriously, you are going to not buy one now just for not having a crappy *** 3.2 MP camera? The camera on-board the iphone is much overrated to begin with. Digital photo wont look good until they put at least a 6MP sensor on board. So don't get your panties in a twist over no camera.

But if Apple intends to actually launch iPod Touches with a camera within the next, say, four weeks, why not announce it today and then state it will ship soon?

Apple has suffered multiple PR headaches already, so why open them up to a new one? You know most everyone who buys a Touch between today and that release will scream bloody murder and Apple will then have to appease them while the anti-Apple press again has a field day.

Better to just wait until Christmas. Sure, significant numbers of those who bought between today and then will still carp, but almost four months is a different kettle of fish than almost four weeks.

i'm guessing they took a gamble and figured they'd delay announcing the camera until production issues are solved rather than publicly announcing a problem with the production line with a perceived cost to customer confidence. the touch will have a camera, it'll get announced when the touch starts shipping when the issues are resolved or stock levels are high enough again. anyone who orders one will have delayed shipping dates now and will get a touch with a camera when they are ready. that's my guess.

Nano Update

I just saw a little bit of news of what's going to be released but I do like the Nano's getting a radio. That's a big plus for me. I've been using my Nokia phone when listening to my favorite sports radio station. An then using my older 2nd generation Nano to listen to music. This will be so much nicer having one unit when working out. :D

I'll just hand over my older nano to my girlfriend so it gets good use out it. She doesn't listen to radio anyway so it works like a charm.

Ehhh...nothing amazing or new. I was shocked to see that the iPod Touch does not have a camera yet a iPod Nano does, kinda odd. iTunes 9 looks nice though. Nothing special this year, oh well.
