Now let the speculation begin as to whether this announcement will have any impact on Apple releasing a new phone this year.

I mean, it doesn't make much sense to launch in February after a 4 year wait and then come out with a new phone 4 months later.

The only thing I'm jealous of is the included Mobile Hotspot. If I wasn't already an iPhone 4 owner, undoubtedly I would choose Verizon. That is a huge deal.

Thank goodness. They need some competition. I shouldn't have to jailbreak my iPhone to use the data I already pay for on other devices.

You're saying "built in" as if it was a part. It's probably just an app for quick tethering. Or perhaps once you activate your iPhone and sync it for the first time, iOS knows to add it to your ViPhone.

mobile hotspot is good if you have unlimited data, otherwise it'll rape your bandwidth.

also, no voice and data at the same time.

There is a difference. arstechnica just asked what if you are on a call and want to use data.


the answer was same as on other cdma phones.

Which means the ATT iphone can use data and voice at the same time and Verizons cant

I would guess if your in wifi range you could but no wifi then you cant.

I really hope so...Because come update time, that is one of the things that can make or break people staying or leaving. They have a lot of us locked in for another year...so I'm hoping they will take the year and actually make changes that are necessary to keep us.

It's a "non-exclusive" deal so maybe it will be available on T-Mobile....

He means that on other carriers (at&t included) it's built into the Settings app. There is no specific app for it.
