Love how the graphs of CPU speed don't have scales. They're meaningless pretty pictures. And we're talking microseconds on the "slow" old fashioned CPUs.

The new OS may ramp it 5% faster (or 500% slower) for all those pictures show.

So what? Apple is focusing on older devices and some dumb graph in a keynote is a big deal?

Serious improvements to devices released in 2014. People saying Apple doesn't care about customers with older devices can kindly shut up now, lol.

Let's just wait to see if that actually is the case, shall we?

I’m glad they’re finally making performance improvements on older devices. This was always an underlying issue that pushed me away from keeping my old tech. My iPhone 4 went downhill fast around iOS 6/7
My iPad Air 2 may finally get updated from iOS 8.4.1. :)

Yeah the A5 in the 4S really made a huge difference. That phone still ran well on 9.3.5 until the web became more intensive. If it had 1GB RAM it would still be very usable today. The A5 was one of Apple’s greatest chips.

I guess the joke is on me. My 6S was really going slow, and needed a new battery. I decided to trade it in for $ and put that down on an iPhone X. Guess I could have gotten the battery changed and a faster software update.. oh well.. lol. I do love my new phone though.

This is a great strategy. Increasing performance on older devices improves resale value and longevity. This is something Android manufacturers just don’t care about.

It's also counter effective, because if your old phone works fine and fast, why would you buy a new one? It's the complete opposite of the planned obsolesce Apple is accused of by slowing down older phones.

Slide shows a few obvious things:
- AR
- Photos (better AI?)
- Siri
- DND
- Notifications
- Timer (check time spent in individual apps?)
- Messages (new Animoji?)

Do they have to create new apps for everything? Can’t they put this stuff in the camera app?

I’ve used this measurement tool before. Not sure it’s 100% accurate though.

Unrelated question: how much is 4 inches in feet? It’s big, right? Right?!!
