For those complaining about Siri: It is a question of privacy. How the heck do you think these assistants improve? It’s only by collecting, analyzing and using data. Lots of data. Something that is always listening and can tap into your entire life will be more powerful than something that has its access limited.

No it’s not, their are no privacy concerns, only people in tin foil hats that worry about that, meanwhile Apple is data mining all of your friends on Facebook, how is that protecting your privacy?

I want Apple to move their damn a$$es and narrow the gap without sacrificing privacy. They brag about having the largest collection of lab test data for fitness tracking. Why can't they go ahead and do something similar to improve that dumb Siri girl? If they can have people do millions of fitness hours to collect data, they can also have people talking millions of sentences in dozens of languages and make Siri learn. Not exactly rocket science!

Then go work for Apple. If not, then make a decision.

The gap between Siri and the competition grows by the month and at some point it's difficult to continue arguing with "privacy"...
The gap will remain there, and I rather keep my privacy.

Google Assistant wins mainly thanks to its voice recognition (transcribing millions of voice mails from Grandcentral/Google voice did pay out), but actual smartness is pathetic. I have given Google complete access to my Gmail, history, etc, and the best it can do is to give me the weather of the day, which I can see just fine by looking through my windows. Google maps never manage to provide any useful recommendations despite me putting exact locations for home and work. Assistant only occasionally remind me of a bill or a flight schedule, while misses on most of them (me manually sending my itinerary to Kayak provides better reminder). Heck, Google cannot even tell me appropriate times to go to the airport despite having all the knowledge of my flight, traffic, public transport, etc. But it sure can recognize my voice a lot better than Siri. Still doesn’t make it useful.

So my choice is to ignore Siri (we live just fine before these digital assistants), or have my privacy eroded with a barely functioning product. I rather opt for the first option.

Let's hope Apple pull out some bangers with the MacBook Pro and finally surprise us with a new Mac Mini, but I'm not holding my breath.
I really want to update my iPad mini

I think even opening up privacy to get the info its already too late and would make mad the ones that have stayed on with beta siri for all this time. What they can do is just buy a lot of AI companies and use that public data for their Siri improvements. No privacy issues for the apple users and they can use more public obtained info. But, that means spending money which is something apple 2018 doesn't like to do except for meh tv shows or overpriced for what you get headphones.
They wouldn't need to sacrifice privacy. Set up a lab test program similar to their glorious fitness data project. Similar approach, no privacy breached. But yes, it'd cost money ...

If Apple isn't going to improve Siri then they should allow users to use Assistant as the primary AI on their phones and computers. But they would never do that.

I saw it. I want to do some real work, like scanning objects, not playing with legos. Imagine scanning fossils or archeological finds in place where they are found before removing them, using a device that fits in your pocket.
Did you miss the measuring capability? And what you mentioned is up to the developers. Apple is only providing the APIs.

I'm a developer and am actually happy to see Apple in the weeds after they trashed what they had by forcing stupid terms on their developers. Yes, it would be cool to work for Lego developing an ARKit app to sell Legos, but outside that there is no opportunity for independent creative developers to bring ideas to Apple platforms anymore.

Like you, I once drank the "Apple Juice", but that was back when I could make $$$$ developing for Apple platforms. Apple has been peeing in the Juice for quite a while now, so now they are paying the price for their own arrogance.
As I mentioned before, I was making a point on content, not that I liked or agreed the content. No juice drinking here.

Then go work for Apple. If not, then make a decision.
See, some people can actually cope with appreciating products from a company and at the same criticizing the company for dragging their feet. But I don't expect you to understand that.

You're Googling it wrong.

That's all I can say about that.

Aren’t most of their newest products dated from 2013? I appreciated the keynote because they didn’t make those goofy jokes and were a bit more serious. Although I’ve more questions after this keynote than before. Is Siri improved? Is maps improved or are they acknowledging that google maps is the future (google maps on CarPlay).

Whatever... nice but not breathtaking
If you think ARKit and create ML are not breathtaking, then why do you even bother watching a developer conference? Just wait for the September keynote.

I am not satisfied on developing on stale hardware. I have an iMac Pro actually. However, you are missing my point. Most of the complaints come from the lack of new hardware announcement and that happens very rarely at WWDC. Don't know where people got excited about rumors that lacked any sense.

Question about your iMac Pro: Did you pay for that iMac Pro from Apple platform software product revenue? Is your income as a developer funded from Apple platform software product revenue?

Please let us know what pays the bills :)

Then your wrong. I want what you want. But it’s not going to happen with Apple since they care about privacy so much. So I had to make a decision. I made it. Decided to just stay Witt Apple as of right now. Make decisions much, eh?

Didn't apple say that this isn't true? It's not privacy that is holding Siri back.?.

Of course not, I develop for more than just apple platforms. Again not the point here.

Did I miss it, or were there no mention on which Macs are gonna get Mojave, and if there are going to be new unsupported Macs?

macOS Mojave will be available this fall as a free software update for Macs introduced in mid-2012 or later, plus 2010 and 2012 Mac Pro models with recommended Metal-capable graphics cards. Some features may not be available in all regions or languages.
