Maybe my brain is fuzzy. I don't really recall the older Mac Pro profile being so much of a cheese grater. Sure, it had the "handles" of one, but not the holes.

How long do we think it will take them to announce price cuts to the pro line of stuff? $999 for a monitor stand? The audience reaction said it all.

As soon as they sell the first computer... but it may never happen.

Pros aren't going to pay $1000 just for a monitor stand. They'll just get the VESA mount and find something else cheaper.

When you have to sell core components separately to keep the overall cost down, you've priced it too high.

So what if there are cheaper options? I think it’s great that there are cheaper and more expensive options. This computer+screen combination is for people where the iMac Pro is not enough. This is for companies where performance>price.

Maybe I'm wrong, but from what I recall, the previous Pro Towers were much less cheese grater-y. They really owned the cheese grater-ness on this one.

Yeah, but the old one looked like something you'd buy from a cheap grocery store. The new one looks like something you'd buy at Sur La Table or Williams Sonoma.

Agree. I think Apple has finally gone off the deep end. I'm watching their stock price go down since the announcement. What is wrong with these people?

They are all so rich they've lost all connection with reality or what money is actually worth now.

Well the new Mac Pro and Pro display are actually pretty good value incredibly powerful products actual ‘pros’ want and have wanted from Apple for years....

The stand and paying a grand more for the matte option are stupid, but that’s it, they literally absolutely without doubt nailed the new Mac Pro..
But I bet those Pros want to know if they can buy standard GPU cards and put them into the new system.

Either way you watch the AAPL go up and up after today... then plummet if they don’t respond to the EU competition commission...

New software features will be available this fall as a free software update for iPhone 6s and later, and will be available with iPadOS for iPad Air 2 and later, all iPad Pro models, iPad 5th generation and later, and iPad mini 4 and later.

You are correct. There were some solid elements on the front of the old one.
With the prices. My old machine is looking pretty good.

Tell me about it! I may take a harder look at building my own machine and finding a high performing Linux flavor to run on it...or *gulp* Windows!
