"Cook: The tablet wouldn't replace all needs for PC's and Macs. What I see is that the tablet, for some people, takes over what their PC was about. And it may extend the purchasing cycle for others. "I want both, but I've got a budget, so I'll buy tablets more often than I buy PC's."

encouraging

translation as i read it: "we will continue to make PCs but with much longer upgrade cycles, than our tablets."

Mossberg

Its clear after reading Mossbergs questions he doesn't understand what FRAND or a standards essential patent is. He doesn't understand the scope or scale of Apples manufacturing needs. He really is not that bright nor has he read up on facts of anything he was going to ask.

Walt: "Compared to Samsung with the Galaxy line, I realize that you guys only have one new iPhone out at a time. That's not the way you've done it with iPod, nor the Mac. Why don't you have more than one new iPhone and iPad at a time, and will you?"

Tim Cook: "Our stance is to make the best product. Our objective isn't to make 'this design' for a price point, or 'this design' for some arbitrary schedule. It's to build the best."

Tim and Jony speaking the same language here...

"One thing is that we're not fragmented. Look at the percentage of users who upgraded to iOS 5. We have one App Store. We have one phone with one screen size, one resolution. So it's pretty simple if you're a developer."

Kind of interesting.

Hmm....interesting comment with rumors of a taller iPhone out there...

Tim Cook: "We have one phone with one screen size and one resolution. It's pretty simple if you're a developer developing for this platform."

Double Secrecy. He wouldn't, nor would Steve have, outted plans to make any other model type.

Tim, you're a nice man and killer CEO but what I really want for you is to SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY and give me the new MacBook Pro.

That's all, thanks.

Why are people stupid enough to ask things like "are you going to make a TV?" You think Tim is going to announce it on the stage with you Walt?

Very interesting.

That doesn't sound like they'll make a taller screen iPhone.

Well thats a good sign :D

"I agree, but I don't want to get in any deeper discussion on it." Lots of laughs, all around.

No loss on this question - it's what everyone wants to be asking even if the answer is "no comment". Also he might let something slip like "not now" or "it's an interesting market but I can't comment" which would mean yes they're definitely on it, and so on.

Not a stupid question IMO. You're going to get a response of some sort and you can derive information from it even if on the surface it says nothing.

Tim Cook's "I agree, but I don't want to get in any deeper discussion on it." about the Apple TV seems like a hint that the Apple television is real. :D

This is why I can't be CEO of Apple. I would never put up with these kinds of ******* questions.

"I'm not going to talk about that"

<Repeats the exact same question>

And the thing is, this is par for the course with journalists.

Why are there no competent journalists out there?

Sure but would he say that if in 4 months we get a new phone with a different aspect ratio? If anything this leads me to believe if the phone is bigger it will keep the same aspect ratio.
