What is happening to my beloved Arsenal???

In just 4 days, we lost 2 major trophies! :(

Especially the Champions League is a major blow... Just this once, we could have, could have..... just once.

On Friday we were thinking (just a little bit) of the treble.

Now we have to watch out we don't loose the championship!! Come on!

Why substitute Henry??? Why???

If there ever were a year for us Gunners to take prizes, it was this year... God, I'm unhappy.

PS. Yeah I come from Holland, but I grew up in England (Slough), and have always been an Arsenal supporter.

i feel your pain. Arsenal have a tough run right now, and i hope that Liverpool can take advantage of that, and i really hope Arsenal don't royally spank Liverpool after their losses this week, 'cause that's what usually happens...

did you read Michael Owen's thoughts on the two teams?? he says thathe doesn't think LFC have become worse over the last few years, just that Arsenal have improved beyond recognition, and that they're the benchmark now. i have to agree with him about Arsenal though, they are sublime, and will take a lot of catching. good luck in the League mate.

That's the same pain i'm suffering from. I too support Arsenal, and am absolutly devastated right now. It doesn't help that I've already had 3 calls from 'friends' wanting to rub it in. What's happened to us in the past week? We go out of the FA Cup, Chelsea close to within 4 points, and now we're out of the Champion's League! This is a bad bad week......

Incidentally, Henry was substituted because he'd not done anything the whole game. I know he's capable of producing moments of brilliance, but if he's had 75 minutes and not come up with the goods, well then he's only human and needs to come off.

I hope chelsea now go on to win the Champions League. They are the sole english team there, and it would be great if they could do us proud in europe.
:(

Thanks man.

To be honest, I don't think we are capable of spanking anyone right now.

Liverpool is for sure on its way up. You'll be there fighting it out with us (and AGAINST Man U.) coming season. You guys had a rough old season this time...

I always like to watch Liverpool, and still do. In the old days you were the only ones capable of thrashing Man Utd, and I remember cheering on the Mersey side Reds whenever you were fighting the Mancunians.

Enemy of the enemy.

At Highbury we still sing about hating the Spurs, but times change ;)

I hope so too.
Chelsea are a good side, and now that Real is out, they have an excellent chance.

Still, if I watch the final featuring Chelsea, I will keep thinking: Arsenal could've been here.... and even win. :(

Like I said before, if ever there were a year......

:( :( :(

On the one hand, yes, you could look at it like that. On the other hand though, we were within a few minutes of going out of the competition in the first round group stages, until Cole got that goal for us. Ever since then any progress in the CL was really a bonus.

Still, I hear you there. Last year, we should have won the premiership (as well as the FA Cup). This year, we should have won the Carling Cup (whatever it's name is now), the FA Cup, the premiership (we'll have to wait and see if arsenal slump to defeats there now  ), and we had a great chance in the CL. When are we going to start turning great football into trophies?

I think the start of our problems goes back to the Carling Cup, when Wenger played a second-string team against middlesborough. We lost, obviously. If we'd played our first team, and gone on to win the Cup, that would have given us a boost for the rest of the season, as well as giving us something tangible to show for our early-season form. Having lost that, we've subsequently lost in the other two cups. How different could it have been?

heh, as opposed to LFC in 2001 playing mediocre/lucky football and turning it into 5 trophies! still, we would rather have the League any day. our record is going to be beaten soon if it carries on like this...oh if only they'd rename it back to the First Division we'd be fine! :)

I agree on the Carling (League?) Cup.
But as for our CL results: okay, we were nearly knocked out early on. But as most "winners" some luck comes into play. That is exaclty what I am referring to: After the first 3 matches we only scored one point, and it seemed it would be one of those European years....But somehow we came through! That should give confidence, and hope! Still didn't happen. That's why "whenever there were a year..."

I watched the game over in Holland, and Johan Cruyff was the the man giving the expert analysis on Dutch TV.
Before the game started he said:
"Arsenal are a great side to watch, with some beautiful and excellent football. But, but.... somehow they will never win" ( he meant the CL trophy, not just this game).
And he is seemingly proven right. In his view we are not "clever" enough, or mature enough to be able to win these kind of matches, although he would have liked us to win.

Oh well.

And perhaps if you got rid of donkey and gave Owen a decent strike partner you'd be fine!

;) :D

OY! don't dis the donkey Goooooooner-boy, he might not score much, but one of the reasons Owen scores so much is that Heskey scares the crap out of defences... He always does a ton of good work off the ball.

I though Chelsea were good for the win over the two games, but Monaco beating Real? Please....

Chelsea have the best chance of the CL that they'll ever have.

On a funny note, who fancies Millwall against Man Ure in the FA cup then?

I always see this thread and mean to comment but am obviously too damn lazy. I hold my hand up as I too am a Liverpool fan.

This comment reminds me of a drunken conversation I had with a friend, I was telling him how Hesky was the best off the ball player in the premiership, he being a Man U  fan replied saying that if Liverpool had more than a few good "on the ball" players they might actually be a good team, I just couldn't stop laughing for some reason, probably because it was sadly true. Hesky does do a lot of good of the ball work but he needs to combine that with some more stuff with the ball, as my Newcastle supporting housemate says Shearer does a lot of good off the ball work oening up defenses but he also sets people up and scores.

I just hope we can beat Arsenal on Friday.

It feels like a post of quotes this....

To paraphrase a former england manager: I would love it if they beat ManUre! That would more than make up for not beating Man U last weekend.

On another note, I see that everyone suddenly thinks that arsenal are there for the beating. Sadly, that probably true :(

Arsenal 4 Liverpool 2

Christ what a game, I'm used to Highbury being a real battle ground, but when we went 1 up after 5 mins, I thought it was really on, especially when Owen put the second in on half time... :D

Bloody Henri. He's a monster.... That was a real 1st class display, he's just the best striker in the world at the moment, i knew he was going to feature. he just had too much to prove after being so anonymous iin the last two games.

'Pool played well, it wasn't a spanking, if Henri hadn't been on the pitch we'd have won 2-1, maybe 3-1.

I'm hoping that the Arse will give newcastle a real kicking on Sunday, and this won't be such a disaster, if newcastle win, then it's going to be tight for 4th place.

I really don't want to have to go to another last day match needing a win to get into Europe.

Sorry I must take reponsibility for this, I decided to take a shower during half time and when I got back it was 3-2  very poor on my front I must say. Lets just pray they play aswell as they did in the second half against Newcastle.

Here, here

What a relief. For a couple of days now I've been worrying about a complete collapse. At least now I can rest easy again!

Too bad I couldn't watch the game.

I am delighted though!

I'm sorry for the Liverpool fans, but Arsenal needed a great win, and any win over Liverpool is considered great.

Still got our unbeaten record in the Premiere League, and a win against Newcastle should lead us to the one and only prize this season had left for us.

OK, Gooners, piss off over to your own bloody thread, this one's reserved for depressed blokes moaning about French managers and underperforming strikers....

Ahhhh.... you do sort of belong here don't you...?

Carry on. :D

yeah... we do.

we should be even more depressed than you lot.
Our problem is that our French manager is good, our strikers are not underperforming..... but we got kicked out of 2 bloody cups in just 4 days.
We need to get real lucky sometime.

BTW I hope Millwall gets in the way of a ManUre-save-the-season-prize....
 lucky bastards....

f***ing Gerard. he probably went into the dressing room at halftime and said to the boys, "well done lads, now just defend that lead and we'll be fine", meanwhile, in the Arsenal dressing room..."you bleeding idiots! get out there and play some football!", so they do, and the Reds roll over and die, again.

congrats to the arse though, Henry is superb. I did forget how much I hate the gooners though, they're a dirty bunch at times, especially Lauren, Cole, and Soloman.

good luck to 'em though, wouldn't it be something to see them go all the way without losing eh? and go stuff the toon for us on Sunday :) (even though i like 'castle)

Oooh yeah! It would be something if we could end this season unbeaten in the Premiere league..... Something Wenger thought "was possible" last year, just before the famous first loss at Blackburn (starting the beginning of the end).

You too have some dirty ones.... Gerard comes to mind instantly. But most teams have one or two of 'em. Sad but true (Keane... Man Upset)

I hope Newcastle gets the full treatment! I got nothing against Newcastle (love Sir Bobby and Shearer), but it'll be good for us, and lend the enemy's enemy a hand ;)

Tnx for wishing us luck! :)

Who?

Thanks very much. It will be an absolute pleasure ;)

yet another bad bad result for Liverpool...

on a slightly different note, i have to redesign the NY Supporters Club website, and I've come up with this logo...what do you guys think???? (just so you know, the LFC part is taken from the NYC Subway logos)

I was looking at the colors wondering why you had chosen them, but after reading your comment I think it's a very fitting, well-thought out logo.

so it's fifteen years to the day when tragedy struck at Hillsborough, during the FA Cup match between Liverpool and Nottingham Forrest.

if you would like to know more, this is a very informative site to visit ...here.

A lot of people think that soccer in England is all about violent fans, it really isn't. 96 people died that day, and it's been a cover up ever since...this was an accident that could, and should have been avoided. all the families want is the truth, and justice for the 96.
