Agreed. I'm not a lockinfo fanboy (hehehe :p) but it's absurd to think that because we made some random posts on an unaffiliated message board about LI theming, that we should receive the app for free. Also, incidentally, I re-emailed the dev about a license since I donated during the beta stage and he responded within a few hours giving me a license. I felt like I should post that as an update to my previous post :) He just must not have gotten my first email. I'm a happy camper now :D

You know, I donated to him during the beta stage also, but not specifically for this extension. But as far as I am concerned, this extension is well worth another $5.

I won't be upgrading to an iPhone 3GS because it's classless of Apple to charge for an upgrade...

I hope your post was just sarcasm. If not, oh well.

No cell phone, computer company or car manufacturer in the world is gonna give you the newest model of their product for free.

Same with software of any kind, this is a complete re-write of the LockScreen Info extension to include native tethering.

I think ctt1wbw's comment was definitely tongue and cheek sarcasm. I actually got a pretty good chuckle out of it. I for one really appreciate what David Ashman has done with LockInfo and the Plug-Ins that work with it. The native rendering didn't just happen when he decided to make it stand on its' own without the need for Winterboard. I have emailed David on a couple of occassions and received very fast replies with answers to my questions. I took advantage of the 14 day trial (I came along to late to try the "Free" version) and ended up purchasing LockInfo after just ONE day! I think it's a bargain for what it does and the ease of use at $4.99.

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!

Nice! Now go to the LockInfo settings under the Settings control panel and change the background transparency. Now it should look different.

ctt1wbw,
you are the best!!!!

Looks great now!

Just trying to figure out how to remove everything that goes behind lockscreen:
green badge
Safari different color
Different clock font :-(
etc...

Do you know by any chance what folders or what images do I have to remove from Gruppled Art. theme???

I just want this nice LockInfo theme for lockscreen..nothing else!!!

Yes, it was sarcasm. I am much worse in person with my sarcasm. :D

Great, glad I could help you out there. But, I'm not sure what your're asking... remove everything? I think that's part of the theme package that was installed, and no I wouldn't know what folders to go into to change those types of things. One day, but not this one. :)

I think LockInfo is great!

I've got a lockscreen and a theme I'm very happy with...

photo18.gif

This would be fun to have as just the lockscreen, not the whole theme. I have no idea what I am doing, but maybe I'll try and compare some themes and see what I need to delete to make this happen.

I'm excited- I woke up this morning to see that the dev has added a drop down monthly calendar to his (beta- so user beware) clock plugin! I've liked that since I used the gruppled theme way back when :)

Nice! Just added it. Seems like LockInfo just keeps getting better everyday, and I just bought it Saturday! :D

On another subject, how are most of you getting your calendar information (appointments, birthdays, etc.) to LockInfo? My wife and I sync our calendars through "Google Calendar" via a Google Exchange account setup on our iPhones but the exchange account really seems to kill my battery. I know I can turn off "Push" and not have the calendar and my gmail Pushed through but what's the point if if it isn't always updated to reflect the newest changes. I guess what I'm saying is, in order to have the freshest info displayed on LockInfo on my Lock Screen, I either have to leave "Push" turned on or go into my iPhone refresh the account and then check the updates but that defeats the purpose of just hitting your "Home" button and just looking at your Lock Screen. Does that make any sense? I'm just looking for the best way to set up our phones to get the freshest info and the least amount of battery drain. So, what do most of you do?

Thanks in advance for your help, you guys (and gals) have been great! :)

You can just turn off the Gruppled Art theme if you don't want it. I'm asuming you're using winterboard. Gruppled Lock Info and Gruppled Art are two sepearte themes for that exact reason. Disable the one you don't want.

I had the same issue. You can actually set your calendar and contacts to Fetch. :D Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Fetch new Data>Advanced>YourGoogleSyncAccount>Fetch

I noticed that it tends to be a little overactive with calendar and contacts and have much better battery life when i have it set to fetch. My fetch time is every 15 min and I get pretty good battery life. Hope that works for you.

Ok, here's my update. This is all Native Rendering. The only mods I made were to add in my own section icons. Pretty nice :) I still miss my Things plugin though so I'll probably alternate between this and matte li.

I don't think you'll have to for too much longer. Ashman pretty much took over my Todo plugin and I think he plans on implementing Things as well. I'm not making promises for him, but I do think it's planned.

He was getting too many requests to have support for Todo and Things and asked if I minded him taking over in the interest of time. I'm still just learning so I said I didn't mind. :D

Once I figure out how he fixed what I had for the Todo plugin I'm going to see what I can do about possibly creating some SQL scripts to get it to work for 2do (as per request) for him to incorporate, or creating a plugin for Google Reader or something. You know... Less crucial plugins.

Listen......not buying a future upgrade from apple in your sarcastic remark, and the way this happened are not the same. It wold be as if Apple gave you the phone....had you try out all the features, and send problem reports and suggestions for future updates.....And then, when they made those updates, your phone locked up and said that you only had a 14 day trial until it stopped working.

Sorry....But that's not how you do business. Tell your users up front that at a certain time you're going to start charging for your work I have no problems with that. Then, I can make the informed decision to either stay with the Beta version that's working fine for me, or upgrade to the pay version that may or may not have more features and fewer bugs.

There was absolutely no warning when it upgraded that what I was installing was only a trial version. I wouldn't have done the update.

And it's already been explained that the dev did... Just because you were reading the wrong thread isn't anyone's fault but your own.

Also, this is EXACTLY the same way most beta software works. Have you beta tested anything before? Every bit of beta I've used stops working when the final release is out. It's a standard practice. ESPECIALLY for open betas. I've only seen software given to beta testers if it's a small, closed beta.

The point of Beta was to allow the developer to test the software to produce the release, not to provide a free version of it to people who don't want the full version.

So I'm sorry, this is exactly how you do business in the software world. Grow up and either buy it or don't. Just stop passing judgments about things you known nothing about.

Anyone know if Lockinfo is compatible with the new CyDialer (call contacts using cover-flow in lockscreen)?

http://www.ihackintosh.com/2009/11/cydialer-call-friends-from-the-cover-flow-lockscreen/

It appears from the little bit of info, you have to use Saurik's lockinfo Cydget interface for the lockscreen, so I doubt it.

I know David will probably put the weather icons in a future release of WeatherIcon but for the time being, can you tell me how you got them there? Maybe a step by step guide? I'm wanting to use all Native Rendering and I love the way your screen looks. I'm almost there except for the weather icons.

Thanks in advance...

Have been using LockInfo for a week or two now. I paid for it yesterday and was happy to do so. I cannot believe how much crybaby whining there is in this thread. I tmight be more productive to just ignore it rather than reason with it.

but......to go ahead and unleash it via an update as a 14 day trial, without warning was absolutely classless.

If you think it was "without warning" you are a complete, 100% idiot. In Cydia when you tap on LI for more details its says clearly that this now a paid app with a 14 day trial. This is the kind of bitching people did when they lost their jailbreak/unlock because they blindly updated in iTunes.

Grow up and don't be a tightwad. This is a hugely useful app that is a steal at $5. Unless you were going to use that $5 to purchase fart apps.

Guys just a quick question...

Is there any specific reason everytime I get a text, email, or refresh my weather that the lock screen tells me in red to restart springboard for the changes to take effect?!

I'll....agree it does state that when you go look at in Cydia on a clean install. Unfortunately, that wasn't there on the UPGRADE notification when I opened it in Rock. There it just stated the new version number, and yes, I blindly installed it as I did the other 50 or so updates.

It says it in Cydia when doing an upgrade, not just a clean install. So the problem is your use of Rock and not the time-tested Cydia or even LI's developer.

Way to pass the buck dude.

Thanks! :) I like the way it looks too. To get the weather icons on the lockscreen, first make sure you have WeatherIcon installed. It's on the modmyi repo too. Then you have to have a WI theme (that's what puts the icons there). A couple examples of WI themes are: Fluffy, Katra (that's my fav), or tick. Just apply the icon theme in winterboard, respring, and the icons should be on your lockscreen.

That's a feature of the Matte LI theme unfortunately. I saw the dev explain that in the mactheme thread. It is annoying, I agree.
