That can't be right. I don't have the update yet - but will check when it arrives. EXS24 has been a backbone for many years - unless Sampler completely subsumes it and seamlessly gives the same results?
Apple turned Logic into Ableton! Start your photocopiers Cupertino!
Sampler replaced EXS24 and all EXS24 presets are preserved. It's much better.
It's almost as if the Logic Pro team isn't constrained by arbitrary deadlines and marketing. Instead, they can focus on crafting solid, bug-free software with thorough documentation and release notes.Logic Pro for Mac release notes - Apple Support

Apple battles Ableton Live with new Logic Pro X 10.5 features
Live Loops, Step Sequencer, and new Sampler tools headline the update.arstechnica.com
I highly doubt Ableton can compare to the full swath of features and capability of Logic Pro.

Curious ... how is Sampler better than EXS24 ?
I am still waiting with the update because Sampler replaces EXS24. It disappears from the list. So backwards compatibility is compromised already which might be an issue for some.
This kind of stuff can break your perfectly running setup sometimes. I have about 200GB of my own EXS libraries which I don't wanna lose. A GUI update would have been sufficient for me.
Great to see what looks like a major update to a pro application.
I wish Apple wasn't so schizophrenic on the pro-side of things.
I just don't understand what Apple is actually trying to do in "Pro". They went from not releasing a professional workstation in 6 years to releasing a monster that doesn't make sense for many levels of professionals... even though many of their highest-end professionals left the platform when they couldn't get their act together on hardware for years on end.
Then I look at other applications that I use, like Motion, and its barely been updated in a decade -- I'd be willing to pay more for a more useful application, After Effects has kept getting more advanced while it seems like Apple is letting Motion wither and die. And as others have already mentioned about Aperture. I'm hoping such a big update to Logic Pro suggests maybe they've reinvested in FCPX/Motion as well.
Its hard to invest in a "pro" platform when you can't tell from one day to the next if the vendor is actually committed to it
BAD NEWS: Found the first feature they completely removed which I was using all the time. It adjusts the velocity range of your instrument. I can not find it in the controls of Sampler (even not under "details").
Yeah, the value today is incredible. I bought Logic for the first time in 1994, then called 'Logic Audio', and have since spent several thousand dollars on it. Before Apple bought Emagic, and bundled everything, you paid for individual instruments and effects as well. I remember paying $600 for the Space Designer plug-in alone when it came out. And now you can get the whole shebang for only $199! It's really remarkable. The value you're getting from Logic Pro X is incredible, I bought it when it was released and it just gets better and better.
Can I ask why you would have any expectation that this would work or be a reliable workflow? Opening project files made with a newer version of a pro application than the version you’re using is generally a no-no.Guys, of course they will. What will almost 100% not work is opening an arrangement using Sampler on an older machine using EXS24. That's what I meant. Can someone try that out?
Thanks my man! Will check it out.Easy, easy. Just because you can't find it on your first try doesn't mean it's gone. I found it for youIt's, quite understandably, under 'Mapping'. Cheers!
This is a viable scenario since not all studios update their systems all the time to the latest OS and therefore latest DAW versions. I am still on Mojave and will stay on it until we get a stable OS.Can I ask why you would have any expectation that this would work or be a reliable workflow? Opening project files made with a newer version of a pro application than the version you’re using is generally a no-no.
I doubt Ableton have anything to worry about. This is only lite version of Ableton Live style loop sequencing.![]()

It’s funny, I’ve been a Logic Pro user for years and switched to Ableton Live a while back. Now Logic Pro has become Ableton live. Great lol.
Is this Apple making you want to buy an iPad to get all the features of Logic now?
Could you give me some examples of what Live does better? Genuinely curiousLive Loops in Logic is just a gadget compare to the full version of Live... Ableton has nothing to worry about, to the contrary many Logic users might enjoy playing with loops and then switch to the real thing, Live !
Funny, cause I’m reading reports all over the place about 10.5 being a disaster with a ton of 3rd party plug-ins. Apparently it’s crash city. Not good at all. It’s almost as though Apple could care less about developers. It's almost as if the Logic Pro team isn't constrained by arbitrary deadlines and marketing. What a novel idea!![]()
