I'm working on a 3,5 year old Macbook Pro (Nov 2016, so it was the first one with the horrible butterfly keys) with the High Sierra 10.13.6 version. Is there really no way to update my Logic to 10.5? I read the update is not compatible with my version, which is a real shame, considering the fact I spent 3500 euros and the laptop ain't even that old.
I really feel gutted, as I'm still working hours in Logic each day. Is there really no way to get to Logic 10.5 with my laptop, without going for a new laptop?

Er. Why aren’t you updating to Mojave?

What are you talking about?

Logic Pro 10.5 is compatible with your laptop ... except you need macOS 10.15 Catalina. Only thing preventing you from upgrading and ranting about spending 3500 euros on a 2016MBP is you. That's it.

I have no idea why you're still stuck on High Sierra.

I've seen so many posts the last few days about people complaining that you have to be on Mojave or Catalina for this... I really don't understand it. If you still need your 32 bit stuff then at least upgrade to Mojave, after a year of updates it's working just fine now. If you don't need the 32 bit stuff anymore (like I do) then Catalina is also working just fine, I've been running it without any issues here.

Maintaining backwards compatibility with older macOS versions must be absolute hell for a complex application like Logic Pro X so I totally understand why Apple is not doing that.

Thanks for the information. I'm sorry, I don't know too much about these things and I read from some people onlinee saying they couldn't install Logic 10.5 because of their High Sierra version.

So if I just upgrade to Mojave (and not to Catalina), then I should be able to install Logic 10.5? And will this upgrade do anything (like erase them) to my current programs (like the projects I have right now running on Logic)? I haven't been able to back up my latest projects because I'm in another country for a couple of weeks.

Logic X (v10.5, the latest as listed in this thread) is compatible with macOS Mojave.

updating to MacOS 10.14 “Mojave” will keep all your apps and preferences intact. Only part of Logic Pro that will change is ESX seems to be replaced by Sampler as others have mentioned - maybe PM them in the forums for specific insight.

PS: I don’t believe Mojave is offered via App Store any longer so you may need to visit Apple Support site for macOS Mojave for download n installation. A restart to complete the installation will be required.

Oh yeah. iTunes gets replaced with Apple Music app. Podcasts becomes its own app as well as Books. iPhone local sync is within Finder.
