Not buying anything Logitech until they fix their awful software. I went all in with a MX Master 3 mouse, a MX Keys keyboard and a c920 webcam. Solid hardware (apart from the webcam - using an iPhone 5s in Camo yields immensely better results) but the Options, Options + and Camera Settings apps are awful, awful, awful. Crashes, lack of Apple Silicon compatibility, kernel panic... I've had it all. If only Apple made a good 1st party mouse,
Options+ has been Apple silicon native for quite some time now.

As a windows user looking to switch I have the following question:
Do non-Apple mice and keyboards like these connect with a small receiver to the Mac or via Bluetooth?
If it's with a receiver, is it USB-c?
Sorry for the silly question, but It's been hard to fin information and haven't found as many Mac periferals as I usually find for Windows..i think I would most likely use an Apple keyboard (because of Touch ID) but a third party mouse (the Magic Mouse is not comfortable for my hand)
You can use either. I've got MX Keys for Mac and MX Master 3 for Mac connected with Bluetooth, and works just fine. Can't honestly see what the benefit of the dongle would be, and don't really want to lose a port for something that's redundant.
And I concur with everyone else - best mouse and keyboard I've ever had in 30+ years! Highly recommended.

why would anyone want a mouse without a touch screen top that scrolls in all directions after being used to it forever
For me, its just the shape of the Magic Mouse - it doesnt fit my hand good and after prolonged use, my wrist and fingers begin to hurt. The gestures on the Magic Mouse are its greatest feature, and if Apple could somehow redesign it in the shape of the MX Master 3, then for my hand, it would be perfect. The Magic Trackpad is also exceptional, but the same happens to my wrist after prolonged use.

The keyboard just doesn't look good. It needs to be aluminum base with white keys and "space grey" anodized base with black keys. White/grey plastic and dark grey plastic doesn't appeal to me.

I use a Logitech M510 and I like it but I would like better designs and materials for this line. I am curious to try the vertical mouse, but again it's kind of ugly. If it matched the aesthetic of my other stuff better it would be a buy but as is I don't think so.

Logitech's stuff really is superior to Apple's. I received Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse from work and they both suck. I use MX Master Keys and MX Master 3S and they are the best keyboard and mouse I've ever used.

I've figured that the Magic Keyboard is quite handy in the living room due to being super small and lightweight so I got it hooked up to my TV.
In your humble opinion.

Other people will disagree and consider the current Apple keyboards and Magic Mouse to be one of the best designs ever, especially the mouse.

True. But it's not compatible with the Bolt-compatible mouse I use at work. So it forced me to install the Bolt software. Which kills my HP G5 USB-C dock whenever I connect my laptop to it. The only thing that worked was to remove Bolt, remove Options+ (which does not come with an uninstaller and must be manually scraped off the OS - scandalous) and keep using the intel version of Options. Awful stuff.

$150 for that cheap keycap made keyboard by Logitech?

You can find something better with real entry custom mechanical keyboard you can build yourself. Like Keychron Q series. You can custom change anything on firmware (VIA tool) and keycaps - it's just unlimited possibility.

Keyboard seems cool, but couldn't give up my Magic Mouse for that thing. I like my multitouch gestures to much.

I went from the old hockey pucks to the magic so that was a vast improvement lol. I've never used any of the big mice ya have to put your whole hand around so I don't know what I'm missing

My first thought was NOOOOO! I just bought the Mx Mechanical Mini.

But on closer inspection the designed for Mac version is almost identical. The modifier keys just don’t have the split labels for Mac | Windows compatibility. And this one doesn’t have dedicated backspace and del keys? Ew! You also apparently can’t choose which switch type you want (although tactile quiet is the best anyway).

I use my Mx Mechanical Mini 8hrs a day 5 days a week as a software engineer and LOVE IT. A perfect mix of mechanical keyboard and low profile ergonomics in my opinion.

Edit: I would highly recommend skipping this version and sticking with the regular Mx mechanical mini which already comes with excellent Mac support out of the box and a more typical key layout (replacing the del key with do not disturb is inexcusable in my opinion).

The MX Master mice are missing a key feature; on-board memory. You WILL need to install software on all computers that you intend to use keyboard shortcuts with any of the buttons.

This is especially problematic if you want to use it on a computer provided from your employer that doesn't allow your own software to be installed.

For this reason, I opted for a Logitech G604. Technically a gaming mouse but doesn't really look like one. Can connect via Bluetooth (though polling rate in Bluetooth SUCKS) or the dongle (great but not ideal to have to connect to usb each time on my work laptop).

Still Logitech Option+ is terrible. Can't assign profiles to Crossover apps, has memory leaks... I suggest to anyone to use SteerMouse instead.

I have made a video on my channel too (in Italian) but you can see SteerMouse in action. This software saved my mental health.
Get a mouse with onboard memory instead and you're fine (Unless you need to map buttons for more than 3 different scenarios). G604 and G502 are both amazing mice mouse for work and let you switch between 3 different profiles all having different mappings of buttons. You can say goodbye to Steermouse after that. Less is more.

I've been using the MX Keys for Mac for a few weeks. It's nice -- but the main concern I have with it is the "recoil" time for its keys. With the standard Mac wireless keyboard from my old iMac the keys recoil quickly, but I've found that these 'MX Keys' keys are slower to recoil leading to typing errors. I'm not sure whether its their travel distance or the pressure needed to suppress the spring mechanism, or maybe I'm just extremely used to the travel-distance and recoil feel of the Apple keyboards.

Can you charge them and still use them ? Unlike apples oddball design decisions on the mouse and keyboard…

The fact that they still fly off the shelves with an asinine design such as that, is *exactly* why their hardware and software have been relatively crappy lately. Why perfect products when you know they’ll buy anything?

Sorry, but no justification for putting the charging ports somewhere that prevents you from using the device. Literally does not make any sense, and is actually a negative to the overall user experience. Mind-boggling stupidity.

Not all mice keyboards are supported at the moment. There’s monthly releases with support for more existing hardware.
