The Logitech MX Master issue still persist as of today. The issue is with the Bluetooth chip in the mouse, where it will go to sleep intermittently and it lost connection with your MacBook. Logitech will not admin to the problem since the issue seems to be hardware related.

I tested this mouse with various MacBook (2008 MBP Pro, 2011 MBA, 2015 MBP, etc). and same problem. No problem with MX Anywhere 2 however.

The reason I got this mouse AND use Bluetooth is because it allows simultaneous connection to 3 devices - I can flick the switch at the bottom of the mouse and connect to my 3 MBP's (not at the same time, though). Using USB will require unplugging / plugging the USB dongle, which is not practical.

My suggestion: stay away from MX Anywhere Master. Use MX Anywhere 2 if you want the bluetooth switches.

My MX Master looses its Bluetooth connection once I start listening to sound over my B&W P7 Wireless (also BT). The old Magic Mouse has no such issues. Without the headsets playing, the MX Master's connection is reliable in the same environment.
Does anyone have similar issues when playing something over a BT audio device connected to the same Mac?

The problem continues with the latest Sierra betas and Logitech Options betas. The Bluetooth connection issues are with most all mice other than Apple's mice. I have to wonder if Apple uses a slightly different frequency for their mice and keyboards.

In my case, the mouse loses connectivity only after the Mac sleeps for more than a few minutes. Fixing it simply requires me to open the Bluetooth Preferences. I don't have to re-pair the mouse or anything... just opening the prefs re-connects it.

It's annoying as hell, but using the USB dongle defeats the point of getting a BT mouse. I don't want to waste a USB port on a stupid mouse dongle.

Until this is fixed, I'll use the MX Master at home with the receiver. At home the receiver can remain plugged in a USB Hub and that's OK. The MX Master is not that portable anyway so on the go a Magic Mouse 2 will take its place.

Actually you can connect it to three different USB dongles. After you've had a few mice, jobs and/or offices you'll find you have more than you need ;)

There's no switch to select which USB dongle the mouse need to connect to, though.

Of course there is, that's the little 1-2-3 selector.

How does this work? I thought the USB dongle is universal so it doesn't have unique identifier like a BT transmitter?

Does Logitech sell just the dongle? I may try this if it work.

Well how do you think it works! You just connect a dongle on each of the little numbers...

Have you tried it and does it work?

Using the USB dongle requires more effort (purchase additional single, install both Option and Unifying software). So if there's a known issue (like the BT issue we are discussing here) I rather not go with it.

I've been reading through some reviews of the Logitech MX Master, and noticed quite a few users reporting connection issues when the mouse is connected via bluetooth. Most of these reviews are from 6+ months ago though (shortly after the mouse was released).

Anybody currently using one of these with a Mac / know if these issues have since been resolved?

Thanks

I have been having this problem for weeks now. Everytime my Imac wakes up, my Logitech MX Master is not recognized by bluetooth. I have to get an old Apple mouse out and reset it, then go and pair the MX Master all over again.

NO, they have NOT been resolved! I have to get an old Apple mouse out, reset it, open bluetooth preferences and repair the MX Master all over again. Been doing this for two weeks now.

Up to you. I've done it this way since I got my first MX Master right after launch.

The issues I had when playing back also sound over bluetooth headphones still persists but it reached a whole new level. The MX Master now also randomly cuts out in normal operation when only the mouse is connected over bluetooth and I also get the same issue after waking up the computer.

Pretty horrible performance for one of the best Logitech products out there. Glad I got it during a sale. Not impressed at all!

No, I said "I've done it this way since I got my first MX Master right after launch.". Don't be pissy.

I am not pissy. Where did mine came across as pissy?

I think you're the one that's pissy with the "Up to you" response when I was asking question.

I have two MX Masters, one at home on a 2015 iMac and one at work on a 2013 Mac Pro. One works as it should regardless of the computer it is connected to. The other will just randomly freeze jump around the screen, stop working completely. It is both the best and most frustrating mouse I've used.
The Logitech Options software stuff doesn't make a difference. I haven't really found anything that does make a difference, either it works properly or it doesn't.

There are no problem when I use with PC Laptop, but it's damn hard to connect with Mac

My MX Master is also choppy when using bluethooth. It's not terrible but definitely noticeable as you move the cursor across the screen. Quite a bit smoother using the dongle, frustrating as I haven't been able to find any nice bluetooth mice. I love the MX thumb wheel for changing Spaces/desktops.

I hope they release a 3rd Magic Mouse, but with a tiny bit of ergonomics and a charging port that doesn't put it out of commission.

Man, I'm pretty disappointed that the BT issues are still present today. I was going to purchase this for it's bluetooth connectivity for browsing and photo editing...But now, not too sure about it.

I'm pretty bummed. I really liked the feel of the mouse.

Update: Do the BT connectivity issues only happen when your Mac/PC goes to sleep? Or are the issues consistent during use?

And does anyone have any suggestions on other top rated BT mice?

I have been using the mouse every day for about 2 weeks now. Some issues with BT are still definitely there. The mouse sometimes doesn't connect after waking up the computer. It only happens after a longer period of time though (e.g. over night, not after a few hours).

I haven't been able to find any pattern, sometimes the mouse connects without any issues, sometimes it doesn't. It's not necessary to re-pair the mouse, all that's needed is to open BT preferences (from the menu bar) and the mouse connects almost immediately. No need to interact with it.

Once the mouse is connected, the connection is stable. It hasn't dropped the connection while using it yet. I was actually kind of worried that there would be some interference with my 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi but no problems so far (other than the initial connection of course but I'm not sure whether that's directly related).

As far as the accuracy and sensitivity goes, it's actually pretty great, no complaints there (it's comparable to my wired gaming mouse). The only thing I had to tweak was to disable mouse acceleration to make the movement consistent with my other machines [0].

I'm reluctant to recommend the mouse given the other comments here but it's working fine for me and I'm actually pretty happy with it (I don't really mind the occasional reconnecting dance in the morning - it takes like 3 seconds). I guess buy it but be prepared to take it back in case it doesn't for you.

Note that this is on the late 2016 MBP 15".

Code:
[0] defaults write .GlobalPreferences com.apple.mouse.scaling -1

Thanks for the insight!

I decided to hold off and just see if the issues are resolved by Logitech. Bummer, I really wanted this mouse too.

Yes, this is still a problem, although I'm not sure if the current cause is the same as it was when this thread was started in January 2016.

I have the same issue as someone above. Every time my computer sleeps for a while, the mouse has lost connection by the time I try to wake it again, and won't reconnect. I have to use a trackpad to go into Bluetooth settings, and then it connects. It's usually fine after that until the next time the computer sleeps, then I have to repeat the process all over again.

Tbh, I think this started happening after the latest Sierra update. I had no issues with the mouse before that.

The problem is that I use Bluetooth for all of my input devices, and a couple of times I've actually turned Bluetooth off by accident, when I meant to open the Bluetooth preferences. Because of this I had to borrow a USB keyboard the first time and even buy one the second time, just to log in again and turn Bluetooth back on.

I'm hoping that this is just an issue with MacOS Sierra, and Apple will fix it in an update.
