Man, I'm pretty disappointed that the BT issues are still present today. I was going to purchase this for it's bluetooth connectivity for browsing and photo editing...But now, not too sure about it.

I use mine with the Logitech Unifying Receiver and it works beautifully - I'd say don't let any bluetooth issue stop you from purchasing the MX Master, it's the best mouse I've ever used, love it. The only thing I can't do is wake my Mac with a click - big deal :)

Good point.

I decided to hold off and just see if the issues are resolved by Logitech.
You're going to wait a long time...

For many issues the problem is with the Bluetooth implementation, and that's not going to change with this mouse, or any mouse that uses BT that isn't the latest spec. It's not a software issue, it's in the hardware itself.

For other issues, it's in the "frequency" that the mouse and Mac communicate. I doubt Logi or Apple are going to provide a tool to allow users to edit that.

^ Well, heck.
May just opt to purchase one then and use it with the unifying receiver.

I believe I said earlier that I was against using a USB receiver because I didn't want to take up valuable ports for this purpose when Bluetooth could do it without a dongle.

When I said that, I made the assumption that these receivers were still required to be plugged directly into a USB port on the computer—not in a hub. As it turns out, you CAN plug the receiver into a hub now (assume only powered ones, but I don't have an un-powered hub to test).

All connectivity issues have went away since plugging in the USB receiver and not using Bluetooth connectivity. This is fine for me using my iMac because that hub plugs into the back of my machine and sits behind the screen completely unseen. This would be an incredibly annoying solution if I had to do it on my MacBook Pro.

And that's the dilemma I'm in. I'm on a MBP now and don't have the convenience of using a USB port on the apple keyboard on on the back o the iMac...But we'l

Welp, I bought a brand new MX Master on sale for $64.99. Going to deal with using the USB adapter...Can't wait to use this bad boy.

After a couple of hours of use, I am very happy with my purchase. Have yet to experience any lag or pointer jumps yet. But really can't wait to really use all the functions that the MX Master has to offer.

What do you guys have your mouse programmed too?

Currently assigned the side scroll to switch through different applications...But thinking of other ideas of how to program the mouse to be more productive.

I use the left side thumb wheel to switch desktops (Spaces).. like using 4 finger swipe on a touchpad to switch Spaces.

I love the mouse but found bluetooth performance very choppy, had to get a USB-A dongle to use on the 2016 MBP.
Hope we get a similar featured mouse soon that doesn't have the bluetooth issue that's plagued the MX since launch.

As others said the MX Master works flawlessly with the unifying receiver which should be preferred over BT whenever possible. You can plug the unifying receiver in a USB hub.

Good mouse but yes, Bluetooth is just awful on it.

I think I may well just go back to my Performance MX as the Bluetooth upgrade was one of the reasons I got this mouse...

I feel like the bluetooth issues with the MX Master were the same issues I experienced with my Magic Mouse/keyboard on my iMac. After watching a movie, the mouse and keyboard were not being recognized by the iMac.

I am using it with my MacBook Pro 2016 over Bluetooth (no dongle) and everything is fine, no problem anytime. Most of the time I am using 5GHz wifi, but sometimes 2.4 - no problem at all.

Also just got an MX master a few days ago, and connected it straight to Bluetooth, using the USB connector never actually crossed my mind. Early days but haven't had any problems with it so far! Only thing I noticed, which is probably a good thing to preserver battery life, is that it seems to go to sleep with my iMac.. meaning I need to click it once to wake it up, then another time to wake the computer up (not a big deal).
same for me
[doublepost=1485390785][/doublepost]I have used the MX Master for a month now on both my MBP (10.11.6) and iMac (10.12.3). Runs without issue via Bluetooth. Also, easy to switch the mouse between the 2 computers via the toggle button underneath the mouse (can pair up to 3 computers).

Logitech Options app (accessed via System Preferences) is easy to use and facilitates the button designations. Also, you can further customize button function by application.

The only thing I do not like is the position of the side buttons (used for back/fwd). The upper button is very difficult to press with my thumb, as it's placed against the lip edge of the mouse (illustrated). Classic example of style over function. IMO a very poor design.

There's a variety of functions for each button via Logitech Options, so lots of options. One benefit: ability to use side wheel to scroll back/forth through tabs in browsers, or as horizontal scroll in other apps (you'll need to set that up for each related app).

Biggest drawback is the design of the click/free spin scroll wheel on top of the mouse. This video illustrates the problem and how to fix it. Has happened once to me. Was able to repair it with no issues since then. However, it's a PITA to fix.

I haven't had any bluetooth connection problems/drops either on my MBP (El Capitan) or iMac (Sierra). Very easy to pair on both machines.

I've been reading through some reviews of the Logitech MX Master, and noticed quite a few users reporting connection issues when the mouse is connected via bluetooth. Most of these reviews are from 6+ months ago though (shortly after the mouse was released).

Anybody currently using one of these with a Mac / know if these issues have since been resolved?

Thanks

I have had problem with my MX Master mouse not reconnecting through Bluetooth after my Mac Mini (circa 2012) has been asleep. The problem can be resolved by restarting Bluetooth or going into the Open Bluetooth Preferences panel. Once either of these are done, the MX Master mouse is automatically found. For $3 I purchased Bluetoggle from Axonic which provides a Cmd-6 shortcut for turning bluetooth on and off. That seems to make it less trouble to wake up MX Mouse. (I tried to post this on the Logitech user forum but couldn't figure out how to create a topic.)

Everyone keeps saying this is a problem with the mouse hardware, but is there any evidence of that? Since all you have to do is open bluetooth prefs to reconnect the mouse, it seems like it could be easily solved in software by Apple. Just trigger whatever things opening bluetooth prefs does (bluetooth scan) automatically in the background every time your machine wakes up. Problem solved.

I have the 2016 MBP 15" and I picked this up along with my Magic Keyboard. For some reason, both my Magic Keyboard and my MX Master drop and reconnect continuously. Sometimes, the MX Master doesn't reconnect at all. I've been having this problem for the past 2 days using it, however with my Magic Mouse 2 I haven't had any issues... I'm not sure what it could be.

Might return it and pick up another MX Master to see how it is. I don't want to rely on the dongle, as the whole reason I got it was for the Bluetooth. I also noticed the input lag is insanely horrible... My Amazon mouse that was $15 is performing better, but I love the buttons on the MX Master... Wish they could fix this.

I've had the same issue on my 2016 MBP 15" with the Master MX Mouse, but in testing, I created a new admin account on my MacBook without setting up an iCloud account and it works fine and never disconnected. I then created another admin account and connected my iCloud account to it and started having disconnect issues. I then removed that iCloud account from the new login and my mouse issues went away and it hasn't disconnected.

I'm going to try with my wife's iCloud account and see if I can recreate the issue and resolution. On a side note, I tested it on my other 2015 MBP 15" and they work fine with or without my iCloud account signed in on the Mac.

I only get the issue when I have both my LG HBS-910 Bluetooth headphones and Logitech Master MX mouse connected via bluetooth with my iCloud account signed in on a 2016 MBP 15".

I'll post back shortly with the results from my remaining tests.

YI have the same issue as someone above. Every time my computer sleeps for a while, the mouse has lost connection by the time I try to wake it again, and won't reconnect. I have to use a trackpad to go into Bluetooth settings, and then it connects. It's usually fine after that until the next time the computer sleeps, then I have to repeat the process all over again.

Tbh, I think this started happening after the latest Sierra update. I had no issues with the mouse before that.

Connection to my MX Master never drops when i use it, but I have noticed that when I switch connection to my PC (I use it simultaneously on PC and MB 13 2016), and later switch back I have to open Bluetooth Preferences and it immediately connects.

I can see my K810 keyboard in the bluetooth drop down menu all the time, but as you can see there is no MX Master, until I open the preferences.

Also, in preferences there is a keyboard icon for K810, but MX Master has generic bluetooth icon. Is it same for everyone?

I just returned the MX Master. Lot's of Bluetooth connectivity disconnects and jittery on latest Sierra update. Logitech tech support admitted that they have issues with latest Sierra with no timetable for a fix.

If you go over the user forums at Logitech you will se many complaints about connectivity, freezing, etc.

Mouse was nice - but did not work reliably

That's a bummer. I just kept mine and use the USB receiver. Does what it needs it to do. Plus, I got it new for $60...Good enough deal to hold on to it.

Asked customer care of a local webshop about my connectivity issues and they immediately sent a new mouse. Same problems. After the computer goes to sleep, the mouse doesn't automatically pair and you need to go into settings to connect again. Very annoying, but I see that I'm not the only one with these issues.

However, the mouse is still the best option, so I'll keep using it.

Wireless is the future. You know this is true because right now it doesn't work properly.

2012 MBP Retina - mouse losing BT connection at least once a day. Requires a restart of the computer to get it to connect to the mouse again. Turning off/on BT and even deleting the preferences plist file by themselves don't do the job. What a pain! Anyone have any other ideas?
