Isn't the entire point of wireless charging that it's easy and convenient to pick up and replace the phone due to a lack of connector?

Only $70. That's cheap for Belkin.
My charger stand in my living room was about £20 plus £10 for a few 30 cm cables. I set it up to hold one iPad, four iPhones, and one item with MiniUSB connector. So how much would it cost me to charge five or six items with this Belkin contraption?

Dropping an iPhone into a wireless cradle is significantly less finicky than trying to align the lightning connector. Makes it much easier to grab your phone, check something, and put it back.

Much easier to never having to worry about putting you phone back into a dock when not using it because when you're getting low you can always just fast charge for 15 minutes

I think we can deduce the price of the AirPower from this device. Let's see, $69.99 + $20 premium for carrying the Apple brand brings us to $89.99 for a single charger. AirPower is a triple charger though, so $89.99 x 3 = $269.97. Apple likes round numbers, so just up it to $300 and there you go, the new pricing for AirPower.

That's exactly what I thought when I read the "in collaboration with Apple" line.

Has Apple ever before designed something and then let another company brand and sell it as their own?

Apple's been involved in several collaborations lately actually, such as the LG 5k monitor and Blackmagic eGPU.

Belkin would normally charge you at least £150 for something to charge that many devices.

If it's one thing I've learned about these chargers it's that it only works if you can put your phone down. Unless they're going to bed, people are reaching for it every minute.

I think the logitech charger looks nice. It does seem expensive though.

I had been using a cheap wireless charger I picked up on Amazon. Right up until I acquired a car with carplay. Seems I'm a light user since my car keeps it adequately charged now.

Why would I pay $70 for this thing which only charges other devices at 5W when I can have the Anker or Ravpower ones that can charge at 10W while costing under $50?

More manufacturing crap causing world pollution. Seriously, I can't believe the rubbish that companies make. Are humans so lazy & obese that they simply can't plug in a iPhone themselves or simply pick one up???
All of this disgusts me. Landfills full of junk because of this greed!

Nonsense.

Let's play this out. I buy one for my iPhoneX. Is this based on the EXACT dimensions of the phone? No. It's designed so that a CLASS of device fits it (consider the dimensions of the devices this works with). When I buy my next device, even if Apple has produced a new cable, with a new connector form factor, I won't have to buy another charger.

Since the data AND power can be provided wirelessly, will I need to get another cable at all? No.

Lets assume that I make a charging station large enough that I could mount an all in one (computer + monitor) into it. Would I have to create a new power supply for every device of the same size? No. Even if the form factors change for physical connections? No again....

Since there is no plugging in and out of a connector, will I wear out a cable?

No.

I don't even need to supply a cable/charging station with every new device

Because the ENTIRE device is now wireless, does this make it easier to connect to a treadmill that could provide power.

Would use of this treadmill and phone decrease obesity...

I think lazy applies to people that jump to thoughtless snarky comments, don't you?

How is this different from wired charging?? There's no difference between plugin a charging station or plugin the iPhone directly. Plus there's no fast charging. This whole wireless charging is totally ridiculous.
The real benefit will be once you‘ll be able to charge multiple devices with one source: Less cable clutter (and for those interested: less radiation).

Fast charging is usually not needed, except for the odd occasion, as recharging is normally done overnight (similar to BEV‘s).

Can we stop calling things with wires "wireless"?

Does a radio that requires a power supply provide "wireless communication?"

Yes, it does.

If it is provided power without a physical connector but is energized remotely is it using a "wireless power supply."

Yes, it is.

Can we please stop pretending that humans aren't capable of considering context?

A semi-upright orientation makes tons of sense…. since you can still be sitting in bed, or sitting on the couch, AND you can still read the messages or notifications as they pop up without having to pick up your phone upright. A sensible form factor.
Either your eyesight is outstanding or you keep your phone chargers way closer than I‘d feel comfortable with.

Price difference in this category is usually driven by the materials and branding.

While both yours and the Logitech brand charger likely do the identical thing, to believe that they're also identical in quality might be a huge stretch.

I don't know, mine is surprisingly good quality, solid heavy base, rigid rubbery base to prevent the phone from slipping, no useless branding on the front, and it just works.
