Of all things to steal...

I mean, you're probably going to be arrested now, may as well make it worthwhile...

Why do people set things afire during chaos like this? We see this sort of thing all over the world, even after sporting events- what is it some sort of drug to destroy and burn others things?

Stealing, destroying and let's burn while we are at it. F'n sad.

I hope all the people of London rise up, and take their city back.

Prayers to you all-

Werd.

I'm not condoning these riots, I just think we really need to focus on what's caused them rather than reactionary idiotic threats of judicial revenge.

I'm confused. In an open, civil society, isn't the the justice system how society deals with lawbreakers?

I understand people are upset about the police shooting. But they should harness that energy into peaceful demonstrations and not take it out on 3rd party bystanders and destroy entire neighborhoods, and put others at risk for lack of even police coverage. That is the the construct of any free, democratic nation. But most of the rioters are not necessarily upset about a killing, they are looting for their own selfish attainment. So, yes, if guilty, they should get at least the minimum punishment the legal system demands.

Damn the England Holland Game is off:mad:
As well as tonight's League Cup matches in London and Bristol – all on police advice following concerns for supporters' safety, and an inability to divert officers from riot duty to police the grounds.

Apparently the Premier and Football Leagues are keeping tabs on the situation ahead of this weekend's fixtures too. Other public events – sporting or otherwise – may still fall victim over the next few days.

They're not upset about the shooting - they don't care. There was a vigil for the man, but a lot of the rioting you see now on the news is just caused by people who have taken the opportunity to steal. Much like the student protests where the message was "we students care about money, you can't increase tuition fees!" and then some people who just wanted to damage stuff ended up destroying a £80,000 police van.

The priorities make total sense to me. Let the morons burn down their own neighborhoods if their so inclined.
Yeah, and all the small shop owners in these neighborhoods where just morons too or what? You know what this is? Apportioning of blame by association, if you live in a poor neighbourhood, it is your fault if somebody burns your car, store or apartment.

Well I just saw an interview with some young people who "may" or "may not" have been involved that claim they where rising up against the government (although they weren't sure which party was in power), because of the economic mess and the way they treat young people. When asked about why they were attacking local businesses they said "because rich people own businesses init".

Sorry how stupid are these people, they know nothing about politics, don't seem to realise that this is a global recession, and they think that people that own small business are rich. I own a small business and I'm not rich. Why not attack the banks or large corporations (not that I think they should), Idiots!!!!

This is just a bunch of criminals that have been brought up in a society that gives money to lazy people who contribute nothing to society, but the world has now changed - they've got to work now and they can't get a job because they messed up their education. Tough! The country has no sympathy for you and we will all help to make sure the police catch you. Have a nice time at Her Majesty's pleasure!

"should I loot an iPhone 4 or wait for the iPhone 4S/5?"

Seriously though, I'll be heading over there after work (I'm only round the corner) and share photographs with you all and let you know what's going on round here.

16,000 Rozzers on the streets tonight it could be the great battle of our time

I was going to post the same.

Although I'm not a fan of Sky News, I've got a love/hate relationship with Kay Burley. She can be such a bias idiot and yet...I want to make sweet sweet love to her in her trouser suit.

How is race relevant?

Well, the riots were sparked by the police shooting of a black man.

It seems race is an issue. It was certainly an issue during the LA riots when something similar happened (police brutality, black victim, etc.)

They interviewed a business owner calling himself 'Big Jim' on TV just now. He described the scene last night and said he saw '200 black people' smashing the place up. The news reporter then said "you can't say that".
The website for his business was on the front of the shop and his numbers are online too;
http://www.bigjimstrims.com/

His site is down due to traffic. Jim isn't a very clever boy.
